RX580 is just a slight improvement over RX480.
GTX1070/Nvidia cards still have problem utilizing Ryzen cores in DX12 games?
Why not 1600?

All Ryzen processor is unlocked, X model have higher base clock speed and Extended Frequency Range(XFR). You can overclock non-X SKU to similar or slightly lower speed than X SKU.

This is what I'm trying to tell people.

Not being able to push the high-end GPU to optimal frame rate doesn't mean it's not good for gaming.

It's subjected to the game engine and the GPU used, in many cases you won't even feel the difference unless you actually benched and compare.

So true.
While reading reviews, was a bit let down when Kabylake can run some games at 130+ fps while Ryzen 7 only 110+ fps, but what the hell I want with over 100 fps when I'm not competitive FPS gamer laugh.gif as long can run games with max setting at over 60fps ( or 75fps will be best ), no complaint rclxm9.gif

Ideally you should get something that pushes the GPU but in many games like say GTAV, the difference isn't that apparent.

1600 and 1600x are unlocked and both can be overclock.

Only thing with X is XFR where it's like a automatic turbo boost to higher frequency when the CPU detects ample of temperature + voltage that can support higher frequency range.

Pls correct me if I am wrong smile.gif

It is as what you've explained.

"AMD's upcoming Ryzen processors are "unlocked," in that they feature unlocked base-clock multipliers that let you easily overclock them; yet a few of its variants feature a brand extension "X." As our older article details, the "X" refers to availability of the XFR (extended frequency range) feature. Think of it as a second stage boost that rewards good CPU cooling with higher CPU clocks set automatically. The Ryzen R7-1800X, R7-1700X, R5-1600X, R5-1400X, and R3-1200X feature this. "

Wrong. All models have XFR.

Just that X models the XFR is at 100Mhz, the non-X is at 50Mhz.

Just because TPU published it doesn't mean it's correct.

Many sites rush to publish but don't bother to update.

Ah, I see. So it's just 50Mhz extra for the auto-overclock. Is there any other distinction between the regular and the X model to justify the increase in price? Thanks smile.gif

X model is typically higher clocked out of the box.

That's basically it.

I have 5 Ryzens with me.

1800X, 1700X, 1700, 1600X and 1500X.

Guess which one is my favorite? tongue.gif
