Rm230 mill?

Why so expensive one? Unless the base include patrol boat purchases and radar system rm230 for a disused oil rig is too expensive

Stupid suggestions rights.
Should have better spend elsewhere.

from what I know, the modification quite kaw kaw,
can accommodate quite an asset and soldier at one time
plus because it is modified from an oil rig so they can be moved if needed to an area that needed more attention

Devon naval contractor signs torpedoes deal with Malaysian navy

By Western Morning News  |  Posted: September 16, 2014

By Olivier Vergnault, WMN Business Editor

A subcontractor to the naval industry has won a major contract to supply torpedo launchers to the Malaysian navy.

J+S Ltd, which employs 130 staff in the UK, have been successfully selected to supply the Torpedo Launcher System (TLS) for the new Royal Malaysian Navy littoral combat ships being constructed by Boustead Naval Shipyard Sdn Bhd in Malaysia.

The Barnstaple company will supply a triple tube torpedo launcher system with associated weapons handling and storage equipment across each of the six platforms.

The firm which also has a base in Aberdeen and an annual turnover of £13.5 million, said its systems can be configured to launch a wide range of torpedoes and will provide a rapid reaction defence system against underwater threats.

Delivery of the first system is scheduled for 2017 with the final system due for delivery in 2021.

Andy Toms, managing director of J+S Ltd, said: “This major contract is a big step forward in our plans to establish Malaysia as a hub for business in the ASEAN market and we are looking forward to working in collaboration with Contraves Advanced Devices Sdn Bhd (CAD) to deliver a successful programme of work.

“We recognise the importance and benefits of Malaysian industrial participation and we have already engaged with a number of local companies for the supply and manufacture of goods and services relating to this contract.

“We have recently opened a J+S office in Kuala Lumpur and hope to build on existing relationships and forge new ones as we develop our business in the dynamic South East Asian market.”

Betul kah?

Budak OnG kata, it rigid fixed type of rig that is for sale not the floating rig kind. Most rig that area are fixed because of the shallow water and cheaper to construct.

If immoveable and used, RM230m is really mahal laugh.gif

RM230m depend on how design to operation of base, not really expensive depend spec choose ,rm230m it about 80 million usd. example

- surveillance Radar, why type radar, cheap short range radar? HD surface radar?, or high-end AESA coast surveillance radar (long range) price from few million USD to 30+ million usd, also radar is single unit or dual unit redundancy? or 1 main and 1 cheap 1 as backup used went main radar on service. (most cost will be here). also is the radar will integrate/Link to boat/ship radar/navigation system. ECPINS system. EOD system with heat detector.

- Power system, above radar also different power requirement , total personal on base, how many KW power needed, i think at lease 60-100kw needed for all requirement, radar, radar server, computer system (control center), aircon, electrical equipment, communication system power and cost , personal needed, water pump. diesel machine pump for boat, so need 3-4 generator or under water power cable supply from land ?

- flesh water system, using lite sea water desalination machine or water supply from land? depend how many will be in base, it think at lease 60+

- install diesel tank and system, at lease can supply 1 week operation before re-supply, 30~40k tons tank? also if need heli also need install air fuel tank for efficient operation.

- also lite defense system, example 25mm navy gun, etc....

Dat depend on tot term.
On ngpv we get cms, meko100 blue print and know how on building warship.
on sgpv setis cms, smart-s, gowind blue print.
kalau nak lebih bayar or beli banyak.
tapi sometimes we want differ type of tot not related to defense but more to commercial.

masa bidding boustead ada submit inhouse design based on meko tapi yg kena pilih tu gowind class.

know-how stays with people, if they are gone, it will be gone as well. It is important to have continuous stream of projects to retain key personnel, hence the know-how.
