Hi hi I just got my M2 last week and I'm very new in detailing! Please advise me some cleaning/polish/wax product? I don't need premium product just keep the car clean and shine no swirl can d. I dunno what cloth to buy or what product to use..I heard turtle wax is easy to use. Is that all what I need? Wash + polish + wax all at once? My budget buying all these around 200. Thanks alot!

you can start with quality microfiber cloths to begin with. Buy PG car shampoo, clay kit which includes a quick detailer and a clay bar, and any wax or sealant of your choice.

Since sealants are typically more durable than waxes, it seems like a waste of time to apply sealant on top of a wax instead of the other way around.

if result achieve, nothing is waste of time.

NO swirl is near to impossible unless its a weekend car or you only drive when no rain....detailing come in passion. If because of 'new car' and just get excited (sorry to say so), then can simply get product from Aeon or Aeon Big.

Just my 2 cents coz when we talking about 'serious' caring...product will slowly upgrade so double pricing smile.gif

Hey eprince,

So I had some time during the weekend and gave it a go again.
Its still the same product but I have then changed to Meguiars Micro Fiber cloth.

This time I payed extra attention to the sponge, cloths and micro fibers.

1) Washed with a wool (or similar) sponge
2) Dried with a separate micro fiber "DRY" cloth
3) Waxed with another separate micro fiber cloth

The results to my surprise, was night and day.

I took this picture after my wash and you will notice the micro swirl marks left by years of neglected care.
[attachmentid=5838881]

Here's the results after applying JUST Meguiars Ultimate Quik Wax and using the Meguiars Supreme Shine Micro Fiber cloth.
[attachmentid=5838938]

I was really surprised with the results and I found this forum posting below that it seems Ultimate Quik Wax have some "Filling" capability.
Though I do not think that by just applying the Ultimate Quik Wax have "Corrected" the swirls, I believe the Micro Fiber cloth
may have applied the wax in a much finer manner and also spread the solution across better.

If you're doing by hand, you have to take note of:-
1) Elbow grease needed
2) Correct cloth
3) Correct method (small sections at a time)
- I split my bonnet/door panels by half
- For door panels, I did the top half first to avoid picking up dirt/dusts from the lower panels
- The roof, I split it into quarters 1/4 section

Forum Posting of Ultimate Quik Wax (or Review):-
http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/produc...e-quik-wax.html

The correct method of applying any polish or waxes:-
http://www.meguiarsonline.com/forums/showt...timate-Quik-Wax

I have yet to give Swirl X (ordered, waiting to arrive) a try and properly "Correct" the swirls,
but lets see if the swirls resurfaces after a few wash. Again, I dont think Ultimate Quik Wax have "Corrected" the swirls.

Will try to post more when I have the chance to give Swirl X a go!

Other than that, I hope this post helps you for your black car!

I just got the shipment last week and will be testing them out soon!
I tried it yesterday but it rained on me in the evening.

But before the rain came, I had a look at the results we're "ok".
It performed better and corrected some of the swirls (hopefully it'll last).

Now I wouldn't put "Scratches" as it does not handle them much.
I still see some deep "Scratches" after my 2nd application (on bonnet) of Swirl X
but it did its job by Correcting the swirls.

In this case if we're doing by hand, that is only this much we can do.
If we really need to get a swirl/scratch free results, we would have to send it to the professionals.

I managed to did 1/2 the car yesterday with Swirl X plus was going to apply Black Wax after.
Unfortunately the weather wasnt favourable thus I hope I can finish it by today.

I didnt take any pictures of the Before and After.

But after UQW have faded, the swirls definitely came back.
Thus I hope with Swirl X it would have properly corrected if not some of the fine swirls or scratches.

Good luck with your Turtle waxes!

Need help guys, I want to remove minor swirls and marring on my car roof, bonnet and hood. Already got this Turtle Wax Swirl And Scratch Remover. Are this sufficient or do I need other higher end products?

Will polish by hand using the Hex-Logic Pad with the Applicator Handle. Will separate it by 1foot by 1foot and work on it.

The question is, are the Turtle Wax Swirl And Scratch Remover sufficient? Or do I need higher end products. On my mind is the Meguiars Ultimate Polish RM82++ at Parkson or Menzerna SF4000 from online seller for RM88/500ml. Help me. This is the last product I need to prepare before start detailing my new car this CNY holiday.

Another query would be I wanna properly thoroughly wash my car before give it protection, so wanna remove tar if any. I am already dry of fund to buy proper tar remover solvent such as OSREN tar remover. I already have Cosway Multipurpose cleaner (it is more like gel type like most of our wash shampoo), I have dilute 1:10 and it quite strong I would say, can I use this Cosway Multipurpose cleaner and at what dilution should i go for? Or got read online can use Diesel to remove the tar easily, but do not let it dry on the paint. Also got read add a little diesel to the Multipurpose cleaner solution. Or any other ghetto way to remove tar on bodypaint?

you already have some basic product, its all about technique and how to you workaround with the product.

Always try with small area..if the product able to 'resolve' your problem mean you can get the product 'work well' for your surface - else try until near to perfect finishing...no point keep buyiing product just for the 'one-two' time try....

* used to be in your should keep 'trying' - knew alot sifu still doing it...now they are in DEEP sleep mode most of time..the one that use most now is 'quick' product..- shampoo, wax, sealant, gloss enhancer....

i would say, go for it.
its mostly in the skills/technique you use, and of course your determination.

generally, upgrading to better (typically much more expensive) products merely "ease" the process.
hypothetically, given a damn good pro, a low end (like turtle wax) product, vs a high end (say, dodojuice? car pro? auto glym?), he should be able to achieve the same* (*again, for analogy/exemplary sake) results.
however the low end product may require him 3 days, while the high end product may only require him 1 day.
further more, buffing off the low end item may require more elbow grease, while the high end product may be a lot more user friendly, with some nice fresh fruity scent* to keep the user feeling more motivated. (* bear in mind though, majority of the professional products will no longer have these "user friendly" scents, such as most of, if not all of the meguiar's professional line products such as the mirror glaze http://www.meguiars.com/content/global/cat...ProCatalog.pdf)

again, if you're dry on fund/on a budget, try not to focus too much on products (remember the mf cloth advises earlier?) and try to focus more on your techniques and making the best of what you have.

to perhaps enlighten you, do you know that a lot of my past results, are typically eye tricks?
i've applied glazes (with a lot of fillers tongue.gif) and multiple layers of waxes, and with good camera lighting/angles, i can create near show car level results with mere consumer level products and skill. (i'm definitely no pro, mind you)
it's to the point i've gotten a lot of actual serious request from relatives to help detail their car, which i reject because i simply don't have the time nor do i know how to charge them.
the best thing is my black car looked like blue to them, which i've even included side by side comparison shots with a blue BMW 5 series wink.gif

Bought this. From osren. Similar to that of rupes in design and it is a 15mm throw. They have not updated this product in their web, it is their new product line

Comes with 6 months warranty, 5inch backing plate.
Priced @950 before gst.
Ultramate will revised to rm750 (if I am not wrong) with only 5inch plate instead of 5+6
During tryout, this has less vibration and more balanced weight distribution compared to ultramate. Less noisy too.

Tired of hand polishing and waxing. So invested total of 1200 for the machine and pads. Can't wait to try this out when holiday comes.

Hand polishing wise, meguairs ultimate compound + polisher grants satisfactory result. Especially the u.polish, darkens the car a lot. For black cars, it is darn good

Anyone purchase any products from Autogeek.net before?

Any taxes involved when it arrives in Malaysia?

Can't stand the price of M205 here after seeing the price listed on Autogeek/Amazon.
