But i would still definitely suggest people to also supplement their reading with more in depth articles to make a wiser purchase, because not all brand/models are equal; some have features or better value that may suit different people Click this: All about mechanical keyboards and why you need one This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Oct 10 2014, 10:35 AM |

QUOTE(Moogle Stiltzkin @ Oct 10 2014, 10:14 AM) Just for a change of pace, i noticed this article where the author claims mechanical keyboards just aren't his thing, and he goes on to explain why I've found that his quest is just too little to judge the mechanical keyboard, hence his article is somewhat one-sided on only 1 particular keyboard, and to add that, ABS with cheap plastic plate keyboard? http://www.bit-tech.net/blog/2014/05/22/me...-aren-t-for-me/ my spoiler commentary » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « ty for the article. found it very light weight, but at least covered some main points, as well as illustrating the different cherry mx key switches which is important for new buyers. But i would still definitely suggest people to also supplement their reading with more in depth articles to make a wiser purchase, because not all brand/models are equal; some have features or better value that may suit different people I've used both Poker 2 and Filco with MX Browns, Filco is definitely not silent but way better than Poker 2 at stock, I've put thick O-rings to dampen my Poker 2 to a really low noise when I bottom it out and with practice to actually touch type rather than hammer it right down makes the noise even much less, which is comparable to normal rubber dome keyboard. The author has yet to find himself Topre yet I guess, didn't saw him mention any Topre than those common Cherry MX brands. He also mention money is not an objection for his keyboard quest, I assume he did not venture enough to know the best of MKB. |

But as you and i both mentioned, there are solutions for this if it is something that bothers a potential buyer QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Oct 5 2014, 04:21 PM) The link below is about kailh. Please see for yourself. i agree with you on this point.http://imgur.com/a/7ujle Mechanical keyboard is about quality rather than price itself. So, answer for worth or not worth to buy this TT poseidon Z is not worth. This is why i called this the mkb club, rather than mkb gaming club. because the emphasis is on the superiority of mkb switch keyboards, vs say a rubberdome. I even recently helped clarify the difference between mkb club and gaming keyboard club here https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/1510888 Still, considering that mkb prices have become much more competitive these days, there are still budget mkb buyers here wanting a more balanced price/performance option This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Oct 10 2014, 11:43 AM |

Any coders or programmers here? Would like to know whether 60% layout or TKL is more suitable for a coder-to-be.
I'm not sure whether I will use the keys left out from the 60% layout frequently or not, or it depends on the language to be coded? Also why people say HHKB is a programmer keyboard? Nope I'm going to get them just asking. |

QUOTE(quovadis123 @ Oct 10 2014, 06:36 PM) I'm not too sure though, haven't started it yet. I'm deciding which layout will be suitable for me, cause I need it portable but I'm worrying I will miss the keys left out in 60%. Also giving myself a reason to buy one more keyboard |

Also giving myself a reason to buy one more keyboard About HHKB part: For programming: - Don't use fuctional keys like F1-12 - Most of the time touch typing (lazy fingers) - using arrow keys are bad habit if you are using VIM (so, arrows keys redundant too) F1-12, arrow keys, page up down etc all become redundants for some programmers. Hence, 60% keyboard is a good choice. Smaller, compact with lesser redundancy. Of course, arrows keys are very important if you using a lot of different software and apps in your OS. TKL is more universal, much better in my opinion. Advice: Don't buy something you want but you don't need to impress others. |
