QUOTE(mydelsol @ Dec 5 2006, 07:33 PM)
Dear al CTzens,

my wife collected the car back today at 5pm( i was in meeting), and CONFIRMED CVT/gearbox has to be replaced. It will take about 1 week to process the "order" and replacement parts to be delivered.

They hve checked the car "thoroughly" and found some "compressed air" problem
and it does effect 2004 models and not the current models. Dont ask me abt the "compressed air" problem as i was not there to enquire. Will do so 2molo.

Warranty sadly was told only till my 3rd year ownership of the car ie
September 2007. Any other problems after that "sendiri" tanggung!!!

So now, will hve to re-send the car in somewhere next week for the replacement
which would take a day or two, but the GM has told me a replacement CT wld be
given during the period (not everyone wld get this) so stay tuned.

may i know your current mileage on the odometer?
but if i'm not mistaken, there should be a certain amount of duration of warranty that covers the replaced parts.. isn't it?

exactly 40,030!!! Well all replaced parts warranty will only coinscide
with the original warranty of the vehicle ie. 2 years service, 3 years warranty
on parts, so in my case 2007 September is my end date for all replaced parts.!

that's about 9 months ahead..

i'd like to know which particular way was the CVT requires a replacement, as in what has gone wrong in your case. Some of the I-DSIs in the Year 2003 batch were troubled with start clutch problems, so what's yours?

Most of the time your wife was driving the City right, and you did say that she was very easy on her right foot thus the good fuel consumption. So can driving habit be possibly ruled out that caused this issue to arise?

A bit dumbfounded, but would love to know what's wrong with the CVT and in what way caused it to spoil. If you are going to find out from your service centre tomorrow, I hope perhaps you can ask them what could have caused it to happen wink.gif

Thanks!

hi all

i wanna ask,

when u all change your tires for all 4....
do u use back the same tire specs for stock?

or use another wider ones..?
*
I use 195/55/R15, just a bit wider than the stock 185. There are quite a number of complains regarding the stock NCT5 at www.autoworld.com.my, mostly regarding the grip and noise.

I agree wif Jackie.

Boss, Can you please find out the possible causes of a CVT failure which results in replacement. We would very much wanna know how it is like and how to prevent as well.

Since you have a really good rship wif the GM there, I think you shud be able to grab sum info fer fellow CiTizens here notworthy.gif

Ribuan Terima kasih cool.gif

When you've got your car, you can already have detailing done to the car. The paint should have properly cured by the time you received your car.
