U know after reading the above....i was thinking abt de first reason WHY i bought a city.

1.Why? coz my wife said she liked the car....

2.Saves fuel...and its a honda...

3.Good value for money

4.New car mar...

Now me? i dun care abt new cars....i love 2nd hand ones just alright...

To me, i tot damn, its fugly....first impression counts and to me it was fugly at first sight....

After driving it for sometime it sorts of grows on u...ITS STILL ugly to me stock standard and yes mine is still stock standard...

If i had my way....i'd get a Benz 300se circa 1980s and slap on some AMG rims, lowered with air suspension, leather seats for the back and the front bucket seats....ahhhh TOTAL BLISS (my dream car la...)

For me, a car without 16 inchers or 17 is fugly hahahaha, for me rims makes the most difference in how the car looks next to the ride height....coz it goes hand in hand. It still looks like a tadpole to me....after all the aftermarket kits its STILL a tadpole ehehehe...big head and a tail, but big rims means more fuel, more exp tyres, more load on my bearings, more load on my abs, stopping power affected...and list goes on. so stock std lor...

Performance wise i've driven so many types of cars, and to me, the vtec on my city is just a kancil engine to me...suitable for me to drive from point A to B. It does it job of saving me fuel nuff said, there just isn't enuff juice to kick me like a trubo spool or a honda B range vtec engine. It's quiet and for an old man like me...driving an auto in a traffic jam is a gift

All in all....its just back to the basic of what do u want the city for? Performance? Racing? Driving fast? Vtec?

Re-evaluate ure objectives...and remember its just a sedan, what type of oomph do u want out of ure city?

smile.gif

my 2 cents

Hey there fellow enthusiasts....

I've been driving my City i-DSi for more than 7 months now and I'm pretty damn satisfied with the car so far...!

But one thing's been bugging me for the past month or so.

Whenever I go through uneven roads, there are times when I need to apply my brakes. When I do that, on my driver's side, I can feel shuddering at my wheels. I'm not sure about the passenger side coz most of the time my gf is sitting there and knowing ladies, she's not as aware about this as guys would...

I've asked the Honda Service Centre guy during my previous service and according to him, it's normal that ABS would kick in when you apply your brakes at uneven roads.

My case, it even happens when I apply my brakes after I've gone over a road hump.

Anyone experienced this same thing before?

Ah....someone who has the same problem... hmm.gif

I wonder is this a common thing for all Citys?
Please can anyone explain why is this happening and is it normal...?

warped discs would usually causes your steering to vibrate left and right when braking.

when ABS kicks in, you can feel a shuddering sensation on the brake pedal. it is normal if the road is uneven and you apply sufficient pressure for it to kick in. i got a lot of that when the car was new, but as i drove it long enough.. i knew how to control the abs from kicking in unnecessarily smile.gif

meaning when u say "sufficient pressure" hard braking?

i usually do gentle braking coz i carry a baby....so i dun feel the shuddering effect

Warp disc or uneven brake pads?

Will it happen so soon on a 7 month old car? Anyways, it's something for me to look into.

Thanks mate.

Anymore possibilities anyone?

So I guess I could rule warped disc out...coz I don't experience vibration on my steering wheel. Only on my brake pedals.

Like jeisern is asking, will this happen only on hard-braking situations? Coz I don't do hard braking. For example you're in a jam, and the road has a hump. So as you are moving slowly in the jam you come up to the hump and you just go over it. As your front wheels went over the hump you apply the brakes gently. The shuddering happens then...

Speed estimation would be somewhere between 20-30 km/h, which is not too fast to require hard braking.

im pretty sure its the ABS kicking in ...

had it quite a number of times before when i was driving on uneven roads ... like going down 1utama new wing's parking ... if u go down fast enuf ... try pressing the brakes ... the abs will kick in ...

used to it already

sometimes even with gentle pressure, depending on the road condition.. the ABS may kick in as well.. (if it's a flat surface.. a harder n more sudden pressure is required for ABS to kick in.. whilst on uneven roads/wet/sandy roads, it is more prone to kick in..)

\_tire_/
-----__-----

like the above.. when your tire rides across the surface, it may bounce right? when you brake a moment before it rides across it OR upon the vehicle bouncing, the ABS would very likely to kick in..

Speaking of the ABS kicking in, doesn't the stock suspension settings also contribute to the hard bumpy feeling? Our City's settings is pretty hard afterall.

The City comes with CVT. Does this mean that it uses a special oil for the transmission?

When i send the city for normal service (engine oil, oil filter, etc), do i need to tell them about the CVT or ask them to use the special oil (if there's any)?

How often do we need to change the CVTF?
Anyone knows if there is an online user guide / manual for Honda City?

A few things came to my mind when i sat on the driver chair.
Where is the clock??????
My tripmeter, it does not have a display to show the fuel consumption (km/l). Is this feature available only on the optitron / vtec?

i don;t know about idsi, but in vtec the clock is only available in the cd player display.

km/l, got this feature? don't think so la. but can see how many km/s u had run. got 2 sets, Trip A and Trip B.

About the user manual, i can't find it online also.
I asked at the service center if they can give me a copy, they said they don't have extra copy.
I guess you have to make a copy from your friend.
