Is that the sound where the car will automatically lock your doors?
Oh man, that's bad. What actually happen? Why don't you just go to a Honda service center?
*
Sorry bro, but no, its not the 'tak' sound that you hear when your doors lock. The doors only lock automatically when you go above 20km/hr.

As for my case, i'm talking about as when my car is completely motionless and when i'm about to shift to D from P, i'll hear that 'tak' sound when i depress the brake pedal.

I'm kinda worried. sad.gif

I believed the last time i changed the fluid was about 2 months ago during my previous car servicing.

Anyways, since i don't really think anyone here is encountering this problem as i am, i will go to the SC ASAP to address this matter.

I hope its not serious.

Happens every single time?
Once you park your car, do you engage your handbrakes? It might be stress on the parking gear and thus when you shift out from P, it takes a bit of effort and when it shifts, you'll get some sound. I'm not exactly sure because I no longer drive my city and that it's not at home so i can't check it out.

Either way, recommended to visit your nearest SC to get an explanation on this issue. smile.gif

2 questions!

1 - How many stars does Honda City rate on crash test? (Tried googling but can't find it, maybe i'm not trying hard enough.. or it just isn't there)

2 - I heard that City steering will lock itself up when you steer full to left or right. This is very uncommon, but anyone heard of this or experienced it? Sounds very dangerous to me (eg driving at high speed then corner and realized the steering locks itself out! What to do next? Pull your handbrake as hard as possible and brake, do a spinning drift!!!) thumbup.gif

bro, that's the shift lock controlled by the brake pedal...it is designed so that you have to press on the brake pedal before you can shift to R from P, to avoid accidents. If you wanna experiment, you can press your brakes a few times while the gear is in P and you'll hear the "tak" sound everytime you depress...

mm wanna ask about the city's CVT gearbox because it has been said that this has been the most troublesome feature of the city..
sure they offer a 3 year warranty period but what if a problem occurs after that? heard that a new one costs rm24k! how do we go about this problem when i dont think that anyone is willing to pay that ridiculous price..

Thanks.

I've went through the thread.
It seems like isolated cases irregardless of whether it is a 3rd or 4th Gen model, irregardless of which batch as well. Most of which happens after battery replacements? hmm.gif

I've been driving my City for 2.5years before passing it to my sister, and have never experienced such a problem. I must admit that i'm not gentle at all with my car, and no problems whatsoever with the EPS except that i dislike it's lack of feedback and response.

I'm not really sure what to comment on that issue as it is relatively new. (May 2007?)

It may be some other problems that caused the accident. Why? To my understanding of an EPS failure, it wouldn't lock itself or automatically steer left/right. The steering will become very heavy due to power assistance malfunction.

It may be possibly brake related (ABS/EBD?). It would make more sense that the front right wheel locks up (ABS/EBD control for that particular wheel kicks in due to a short-circuit?) and as three other wheels are still spinning, it causes the swerving at the right-wheel point.

My assumption anyways, so unless that thread has progress on the actual part failure.. there's no actual confirmation on this issue.

It's really too uncommon to warrant much worries, I guess. Who knows what those guys mod with their cars? I was just pointing out that it happens, not to discourage people from buying the car. Like some other forumers love to point out, Camry also caught fire lah, right? Who knows what actually happened?
