been waiting for ghost in the shell 2017, watched it.

i have to say i am a little disappointed.

maybe i expected too much after watching the whole japanese manga animated tv series and movies franchise since 1995.

this live action movie delivers the visual and special effects superbly but poor in character development.

the story is pretty much the original 1995 animated film story and does faithfully follow the details.

scarlett johansson does a fair job but i wish a more athletic actress was chosen for the lead role of motoko kusanagi.

the other characters are all there - aramaki, batou, the puppeteer came out ok but the rest... togusa, ishikawa, saito, borma, ladriya were poorly casted.

still, i say it is worth a watch, available in dd truehd/atmos. 3/5.

i hope but it will be difficult to expect a sequel based on the many stories in the manga franchise.

Found this little gem off the weird side of YouTube... You are either gonna hate it or tolerate it... some might even love it.. Fair warning: CGI-heavy.. "cringe"... biggrin.gif

To The Bone(15.July.2017)
Director: Marti Noxon
Cast: Lily Collins, Keanu Reeves, Carrie Preston, Liana Liberato,
Alex Sharp, Lili Taylor, Brooke Smith.

A twenty year old anorexic Ellen(Lily Collins, the daughter of
musician Phil Collins) agrees to a last-ditch effort to recover her health,
with her becoming an inpatient at an institution run by an unconventional
doctor, William Beckham (Keanu Reeves).

Scary, when you start counting calories in every food.
Heart-wrenching scene where the Ellen asks her mother to bottled feed
her like a baby.
Didn't portrayed the story well enough.
At the end of the film, nothing useful or insight
is said about anorexia.
Maybe an illness to understand.
Not bad and good performance from Lily Collins.

Tonight just watched Hacksaw Ridge. It took me so long to watch this movie but Im glad this movie really good.

It took sometime at the early part of the movie to give a time for story and character to grow. Once the war start, my room start rattling, shaking and the shooting is everywhere. I can say this movie war scene really BRUTAL.

At the end, i really surprised to know the total numbers of soldier Private Doss save during that war.

Last night I watch XXX Return Of Xander Cage. This is action pack movie but unfortunately not my taste because I think the action was too ridiculous. A men fall from high with a stood leg and nothing happen. They think it is cool to shown an action with a perfect execution. Play the movie and you can forget about it once finish.

alien: covenant is the 6th installment in the series, the 3rd directed by ridley scott.

story set is 10 years after alien: prometheus.

will not spoil it for u... except to say this one is as good as prometheus and with a lot more of the "creature" shown.

safe to say a 3rd episode will come to complete the "prequel" trilogy.

stars Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston. 3.5/5. available in dtshdma 7.1 audio.

Viceroy's House (2017)
Partition: 1947 is the India title of the film which
released as Viceroy’s House in Britain.
Director: Gurinder Chadha
Starring: Hugh Bonneville(Downton Abbey),
Gillian Anderson(The X-Files),
Manish Dayal, Huma Qureshi

If you're a fan of historical drama and old
fashioned colonial history, then this the film.

British-Indian director Gurinder Chadha's biggest film
since Bend it like Beckham(2001).

A strong and important story, one which is rarely told or taught.

The film is set in 1947 in the months leading up to India’s
independence from colonial Britain.

Mountbatten,(Hugh Bonneville)the last Viceroy of India also also the
Queen’s cousin has been given the unenviable job of overseeing
the transition in what, given the escalating violence, to an
impossibly short time frame.

Based on a book by former Indian diplomat Narendra Singh Sarila,
a junior member of Mountbatten's staff.

Gurinder decided to tell the story of partition through the eyes
of both the Mountbatten family and the Indians who served them.

This new film, the director claims of uncovered new evidence that
Mountbatten was an unwitting pawn, manipulated by Winston Churchill.

In India, Mountbatten is the man blamed for partition.
But he did play the role, especially in bringing the date of
partition forward by 10 months.

The plans for partition had actually already been discussed back
when Churchill was prime minister (1940–45), long before Mountbatten
had even been named or arrived in India.

Partition was a monumental moment in Indian and Pakistani history,
but lots of people around the world don’t know about it.
That include me.Only after watching the movie.

Well-written film with beautiful production values.
After watching the film, it is worth praising that
Chadha's film gives us a feeling for how terrible these events were.

The Drowning would not be everyone's choice due to lack of high intensity but definitely for psychological genre lovers. brows.gif
