Megan Leavey(2017)
Director: Gabriela Cowperthwaite Her award-winning documentary, Blackfish (2013) Writers: Pamela Gray, Annie Mumolo, and Tim Lovestedt Stars: Kate Mara, Ramon Rodriguez, and Tom Felton Megan, not a warm person and she doesn't make connections with easily. Plays an aimless and young troubled woman who joins the Marines to get away from her miserable life. An inspiring, poignant drama based on the true story about a relationship between a marine, Megan(Kate Mara)and her German Shepherd combat dog, Rex who served with her on 100 missions in Iraq. After both return, injured, the story turns to Leavey’s battle to be given custody of Rex. Because military veterinarian deems Rex “unadoptable,” (a danger to society) and not allowed to enter domestic life. A good story, well told. |

QUOTE(AVFAN @ Aug 24 2017, 10:58 AM) watched this. 3/5. A little setback from the director is when Megan misses her dog, more drama than action but yes, good story well told. based on a true story. prior to the movie, a book was written by Rex's previous handler before Megan. but the film has little sense of how to dramatize. |

unlocked 2017 is a decent thriller, a bit like jason bourne but with less action. 3/5.
espionage, deception, save the world... noomi rapace does a great job with orlando bloom alongside, and a bit from veterans michael douglas and john malkovich. as it turned out, death note 2017 is a movie, not a tv series. like ghost in the shell, i find hollywood unable to do a good job with the original japanese manga. the story in the movie is simplified with changes for the ending. i suspect viewers without prior watching of the japanese anime or live action movie will not like it. however, those who have watched them before and liked the story will probably find it OK. 2.5/5. Rememory(2017)
Available Free on Google Play Movies. Selected countries only(24th August 2017) In Theaters: Sep 8, 2017. Director: Mark Palansky Written: Mark Palansky and Mike Vukadinovich Cast: Peter Dinklage(Game of Thrones), Julia Ormond, Martin Donovan, Anton Yelchin, Henry Ian Cusick, Evelyn Brochu. Dinklage plays Sam Bloom, a model-maker still grieving long after causing the drunken car crash that killed his brother Dash (Matt Ellis). He attends a lecture by Gordon Dunn (Martin Donovan), who’s on the verge of releasing a machine that allows people to objectively view their own memories as a form of therapy. Watching it last night, if it weren’t for Dinklage’s remarkable performance, the film would have very little to recommend. |

i watched the Hitman's Bodyguard last night. it was funny watching Ryan Reynolds & Sam L Jackson together but i do wished they kinda tone down the language a little bit.
Ryan's character even pointed out that Sam's character single-handedly ruined the word "motherfucker". i kinda agree with him. at some point Sam's character even annoyed me! felt it was wasted opportunity for Gary Oldman, Salma Hayek and Elodie Yung as they could have casted nobodies and it wouldn't change the movie. i thought the action sequence in Amsterdam was fantastic though. i give this one a 6/10. |
