If by 'more reality' you mean three of my Portugal defenders suddenly ran into each other and two of them fell on the ground with the ball on the other side of the pitch, well then, no but thanks very much

I'll stick to the 'less reality' of the xbox pes5 on my 360 for my now very rarely pes/we fix

i'm saying, ive experienced that quite a lot in the game (demo pes2008). that rarely, very rarely happened in the previous pes/we

thats why i said i like pes5 better. whats the point of making it so 'realistic' if it kills the game?

and by your opinion "what to said, u have to start from zero to start ur another new life with PES2008", do expect the new iteration to lose many fans, imho. because fans (or fanboyism) stick to something for what they thought was great continuously over something, not a "new life"

Konami will not change so long as ppl continue to buy their PES/WE like Stepford wives. This mental conditioning from years of playing PES/WE which we equate to "real football simulation" is creating a blanket of denial to accept anything other than the same old same old. This mirage has worked so well in yesteryears. But not anymore. It's time for Konami to wake up and truly bring the game next-gen.

Vote with your $. Konami is not getting mine this year.

Bro... whatever u said, u only try the demo, me just complete the konami cup n asian cup, but me dint meet the the problem like u said b4... maybe the problem is from u or the demo. Why i said this is new pes, what is the point if Konami still keep the same old day, what we want is Konami still can keep the "feeling" of Winning Eleven with the fresh gameplay, yup..the important thing is it still keep it on PES2008. Like i said b4 if u cant enjoy it, then sorry lah, anyway u still got ur pes5, right? smile.gif then enjoy it. Cheer!!

I believe he is talking about his PC version smile.gif

I don't need my soccer game to be super realistic and all. Just fun and fun will be fine (where is my sensible soccer?). I will still opt for PES2008 if it is at standard pricing (if PA's pricing is correct, it is crazy man)

A UK gaming website became one of a few to slam PES 2008 on the PS3 for its framerate problems and the like. However, today they have published their review of the Xbox 360 version and awarded it a score of 9 as opposed to the PS3's lowly 7. They boast the title has a brillaint offline mode, smooth frame rate and plays a wonderful game of football. However, they note that the graphics are not as good as one would expect.

Quote:
In the PS3 review we said that the most disappointing thing about PES 2008 was that if it wasn't crippled by its technical problems it would one of the best Pro Evolution Soccer games ever made. Does that make the 360 version one of the best PES games ever made? As someone who has played every Pro Evo game Konami has brought to the UK, I'd have to say yes. Some will baulk at the more arcade feel to the game, and how dribbling and passing has been made easier (in direct contrast to FIFA's more considered play), but for me it's hit a sweet spot. And others will say the 360 d-pad is terrible for playing PES (which it is), although this has never really bothered me since I always use the analogue stick both on the Sixaxis and the 360 pad. Of more importance is the fact that Konami hasn't embraced next-gen gaming in any way shape or form with PES 2008. The graphics are distinctly last-gen and the game is almost identical in terms of modes and features to Pro Evolution 6. Looks like Seabass has earmarked next year's game for that. Third time lucky eh?

But PES 2008's gameplay is a big improvement on last year's effort. PES fans can forgive the poor graphics, the God-awful music, the embarrassing presentation and lack of licensed teams because the core of the game is so mind-bogglingly brilliant. Some gamers have called for a complete overhaul of the game, as legendary PES executive producer Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka has confirmed will be in place for 2009's game. But for me, I love PES's gameplay the way it is. The feeling of satisfaction you get from scoring a goal in PES, be it a tap-in at the end of an Arsenal-esque 20-pass move or a Frank Lampard scorcher, is unlike anything in gaming. It's about as close as us mortals are going to get to that uncontrollable burst of emotion professional footballers experience week in, week out. The most important thing is that in PES 2008 you can still get that beautiful feeling.

Sounds like a typical PES2008 fanboy review. No offence but haven't we overlook graphics, crappy music, lousy presentation and lack of licensed teams for the last couple of years already?

Game play is great and all but if Konami cant be bothered to improve on the other aspects, whats the point?

Bcoz Konami already get the important thing, far n more important than graphic, music, presentation and licensed, that is the "feeling" of playing winning eleven/PES. Just like Wii dun need a nice pretty graphic gaming.

i used to terus turn off the music even for last gen PES (which were great games!) because they were downright horrible. then, change the commentary to spanish or french. if english, cannot tahan one!

anyway, i played around 20 rounds of 360 PES2008 demo the other day, trying to 'acquire' the said sense of greatness

way too fast and too arcadey for me (the thing that i really hate with fifa series before this). they are moving and running like its a REAL 10 minutes game!

i really dislike the idea of that diving function. i mean, advocating foul play? but honestly, when playing against french, trezeguet dived in my penalty box and received a yellow; it felt like real football for a sec. but im sure, after the 68th time having your opponent doing that, even only succeeding a third of it, it would be freaking annoying

still cannot stop laughing seeing how the players run. and even more laughs at how i can dribble from middle of the field to the end and scored

and i really dislike how the AI positioned my players around, especially my defences, leaving a sole opponent attacker up front in a good position. a through ball, then its all over

conclusion; same verdict as everyone else who HAVE ACTUALLY PLAYED both top football next-gen games: gimme something worth my money konami!

oh yeah, if youre not buying ori game, dont bother refuting me to death. you WOULDNT understand the phrase "worth my money"

The Wii has pretty graphics, just not mind blowing. PES is rehashing the same visuals from the last few series. I know they got the gameplay aspect right (although I am hearing mixed reviews this time around) but you would expect a franchise like them would look to improve on other things.

I played both FIFA'08 and PES2008 demo and...I somehow like PES2008 better. To make it short, it's more fun.
Of course, I only started to play footie games like 1 - 2 months back. blush.gif

Trust me, i tried really really hard. Really I did. Tried to refrain from commenting on this thread ..... but alas, I am weak. tongue.gif I cannot tahan!

What I really cannot understand is why nakata, who admittedly only played the PC version, is strongly defending something he has not even played - this is after all an xbox360 thread. Boggles the mind. Surely this game plays differently on diff platforms, so what may be great to you on the PC may not necessarily translate the same on a 360.

That aside, some general comments. PES2008 is great probably because it feels, looks and plays so familiar, like a long lost brother/sister (for political correctness). Year in year out, u can just pick it up and continue from where u left off in the previous series, with minor tweaks for better or worse. FIFA08 on the other hand feels and plays totally different, and is not a pick-up and play game. You really need to invest time and effort to re-learn everything from scratch. Let go of the bloody sprint button! You're not playing track and field 100m race. To truly enjoy the game, u need to let go of past expectations and play with an open mind, rather than play with a "this is nothing like PES/WE" mindset. Do not expect a goalfest scoreline of 10-1, or every move ending with an attempt at goal, or end-to-end plays in a matter of 5 secs. Heck even Konami themselves admitted that they reduced the size of the field from actual dimensions to suit their needs. Sure FIFA08 has got its weaknesses and flaws too, and is far from perfect. But at least it is refreshing and feels like a real football game, at least to me. Feel free to differ. Anyway, like i always say ... to each his own. Sorry for the rant.

Sry... b4 that i have mention what i play is full version from PC, since my xbox360 acc have been ban, so i have no chance to get in live to get the demo. Maybe i have to wait for the xbox360 full version coming first.
At here i never compare this game with FIFA0x, if u like it, then u play it then u can enjoy it. If u want to talk about Fifa08, u can go inside the Fifa thread said anything u like, dun worry i never step into Fifa thread, bcoz i m really dun have interest about FIfa anymore.

Well, this is a discussion about PES2008, bad or good. Most of us footie fans have been living and breathing Winning Eleven or PES since a long time ago.

I just dont understand why Konami cant buck up on the other aspect of the game. The gameplay is good, i admit that. All they need to do is spruce up the presentation, the graphics, get a better commentator, work on the music and voila, you have a game that is truly next gen.
