QUOTE(tsg_7 @ Apr 28 2019, 08:51 PM) What I read is articles had been saying that highly refined Group III base oil are now comparable to Group IV oil. That is why even Group III oil can be classified as fully synthetic. If you ask me, I will buy the rm125 fully oil as it is cheaper. |

QUOTE(edisoner90 @ Aug 2 2019, 11:39 AM) should i use 0w20 or 0w30 honda engine oil for 2013 honda city car with 130k ++ mileage .. it is a six year car now.. The L15A7 engine was original designed to run on 5W30 engine oil. Subsequently, Honda said the engine is also compatible with 0W20.Anyone use before 0w20 for honda city and comment? I highly recommend you to use the 0W30 (red cap) Honda oil as it is a grade higher than the 0W20 (green cap) oil. If I remember correctly, the 0W30 oil uses PAO based oil (Group IV) whereas the 0W20 are on highly refined group III oil. That is why the huge disparity in pricing between these 2 oils. |

QUOTE(edisoner90 @ Aug 6 2019, 09:39 AM) how you know that honda 0W30 oil uses PAO based oil (Group IV) ?? any cross reference? and how to see if other brand engine oil use PAO? Previously, before Honda updated their oil to SN, their old fully synthetic oil is confirmed as PAO based as published on their website. After the update, they've removed the information but I would assume Honda is still using PAO for their top grade engine oil. |

QUOTE(ghostcommand @ Oct 20 2019, 03:05 AM) I have an old Honda Accord with 225000KM on it, my dad's old car la, he refuses to use any synthetic oil and only used mineral oil like Shell Helix HX5 15W-40 or Castrol GTX and so far the engine runs fine, nothing special. He even uses Castrol GTX 15W-40 in his Mercedes for 11000KM then only do oil change, he told me the mechanic said the engine still very clean even tho the car is 15 years old with 260000KM. Since the engine is considered on the high mileage side, better to stick with mineral oil as what you father did all these while.Do you think it's a good idea to change to semi-synthetic 10W-40 A3/B4 oil? Will it have better FC or pickup? Or just stay with Shell Helix HX5? Sorry for all the questions I'm really noob and just started learning about all these things about car maintenance Using semi or fully synthetic oil which may have better cleaning properties might cause leakage later. |

Actually I don't understand why some people says european engine oil doesn't suit Malaysia weather?
I think as long as they carry the API certification, these oil basically works the same.. Same viscosity and flash point. If it states 5W30, these oil will have the same specification no matter if it is made anywhere (minus the oil additives and formulation as it varies from brand to brand). So,as long as it has the API donut sign, it should be good to use anywhere. |

QUOTE(tonyckt @ Feb 28 2020, 06:07 PM) Driving 7 years old myvi 1.5 now. The MYVI do accept 40 weight oil but fuel consumption will suffer a little.Previously using full synthetic 5W-30 engine oil. Saw Tesco selling cheap shell helix ultra 5w-40. Should I change to 40 or stick with 30 ? If me, I'll stick to the recommended 30 weight oil all the way. |

QUOTE(SleeplessEyes @ Jun 24 2020, 12:31 AM) Thanks for your feedback bro. In my opinion, it is always better to stick to the owner's manual recommended oil viscosity. If you want to try lighter oil, maximum you should go is 10W30 or probably 5W30.Btw may I ask if 0w20 is suitable for turbocharged cars such as Exora Turbo. The manual suggests (not recommends) 10w30 on its chart for optimum temperature . The car is a weekend / off peak car also. My kind of driving style is a mixture of normal driving and sometimes short burst of turbo acceleration . no track racing. Currently im using 5w40 full synt. Maybe you can try the Syntium 3000 SE Fully Synthetic 5W30 since this oil is sold by PROTON as its service centre. |

QUOTE(incredibless @ Jul 26 2020, 09:34 PM) Hi all experts. I want to ask which engine oil is better? I went into two petrol station and check out their oil varities for my upcoming servicing. Thus was wondering which oil is better since the price is almost RM100 differences for both fully syn. I am currently using this. Thinking to try other oil from my current ride where my driving condition is jam and high speed. 1. Petronas Syntium 3000 5W-30 retails at RM180 2. Shell Helix Ultra 5w-30 : retails at RM277 Which is better in terms of 10k intervals? I am looking for oil that protects many year to come. https://shopee.com.my/product/19534140/2375644097?smtt=0.0.9 |

QUOTE(cempedaklife @ Jul 27 2020, 02:20 PM) oh wow..didnt knew they have a physical shop. that's good to hear. When you buy from Paulhew, they will give you the oil change reminder sticker which is under EC Auto. Buy with peace of mind. Confirm it's safe. i was just searching back who is the bro that asked about paul hew and driving a city as well coz i have some update. might be you so i have changed to liqui moly bought from paulhew @ shopee on early march. that was before i start to wfh then MCO kicks in. since then, i'm working from home and does not drive as often. but i can tell you. i feel this oil is quite good. can feel smooth as well. whether it is possible to be fake or not. no way to tell. |

QUOTE(shen1716 @ Oct 8 2020, 07:44 AM) Hi, are petronas syntium 7000 0w16 suitable for proton iriz?workshop say it is safe to use as this oil are resistance to heat even the viscosity is low. I think Iriz owner's manual did not recommend 0W16 oil to be use in the engine. It is best you stick to the recommended oil viscosity. For Iriz it is: fully synthetic Syntium 3000 SE 5W-30 semi synthetic Syntium 800 SE 10W-30 fully synthetic Syntium 3000 5W-40 semi synthetic Syntium 800 10W-40 fully synthetic Shell Ultra 5W-40 semi synthetic Shell Helix HX7 10W-40 Probably you can go with the syntium 3000 range @ 5W30. jin^manusia and Thayaalan 14 liked this post

The oil is so pure that I had difficulty identifying the oil level through the dipstick.I also bought Nissan oil, Petronas Syntium many rounds from him and all no problem. Actually Paulhew I think is EC Auto spare parts shop located in Batu Caves area. This post has been edited by Thrust: Jun 1 2021, 05:12 AM |

QUOTE(wlchong79 @ Jun 10 2021, 10:21 AM) You say its fake then its fake lor.. To me, I don't think it's fake because I bought Helix HX8 and Syntium 3000 from him. Both oil dye colour are totally different. Helix is like clear and pure... Syntium is gold colour. If the oil is fake, both Shell and Syntium should be the same colour as they use the same recycled oil and fill into different bottles. This post has been edited by Thrust: Jun 10 2021, 12:58 PM |
