QUOTE(GamersFamilia @ Jul 22 2016, 03:17 PM) currently im using total EO 5w-40 fully , i must say total is very good That's a clean looking engine. I believe if you change oil frequently, the engine internals will be clean no matter what oil you're using.

QUOTE(isr25 @ Jul 23 2016, 07:46 AM) Hi all, This is not a question about engine oil per se, but related to it. My Honda service center recommends to use engine oil flushing (by Liqui Moly) every 10K KM. I just read the FAQ in the North American Honda webpage, which strongly recommends against the use of engine oil flushing products, and it may void the engine warranty. Honda Malaysia page is silent about this though... So what do you guys think? Should I? Or shouldn't I? Thanks! No need to flush.

QUOTE(Optiplex330 @ Jul 23 2016, 02:38 PM) I think people are unnecessarily paranoid about engine oil and I was too before. At the end of the day, I believe if you use the correct viscosity and the correct grade and stick to manufacturer's OCI, nothing catastrophic will happen. I have a diesel engine with 350K on the odometer and a friend have 500K and we both been using Mineral Oil from Day 1. And engines still don't consume oil so far. Agree with you. Stick to the recommended viscosity & regularly change your engine oil is enough to protect your engine.

QUOTE(munky @ Jul 26 2016, 04:36 PM) does engine oil expire in an engine that doesn't run much? for example today i service my car. After 6 months, the car only traveled 2000 km. Should it be changed or can it be used until 10k km? I would personally use it till like 8 to 9 months before changing it eventhough haven't hit 10k.

QUOTE(ykho21 @ Aug 6 2016, 10:47 AM) Need no worry about the engine oil sell by tesco. I 've been using it for 6 years now in my Myvi. All brand i use as long as promotion price. Shell, Mobil 1, Gastrol. All fully synthetic. Look at the valve assy after i remove it to replace valve cover seal. Mileage now 107000km, brought new in 2008. 1st 2 years service at Perodua. After tat all DIY oil change That's a very clean looking engine! Btw, how often your oil change interval is? This post has been edited by Thrust: Aug 7 2016, 08:05 AM

QUOTE(tehoice @ Aug 16 2016, 10:51 PM) i see okay, great. i always use the hybrid oil, SN0W-20, not bad, but they say a bit too thin, is that so? My personal opinion is that if you don't hard rev your car often, the 0w20 oil will work just fine. Don't worry too much about it.

QUOTE(peejayboy @ Aug 20 2016, 10:23 AM) Hey there, was just wondering if Honda service centres do not sell engine oils for walk-in customers? Most likely the don't but there's no point buying from SC. They are selling SN0w30 for around RM200 when you can get it at authorised Honda parts dealer for RM160 to 165. Last time I went to SC & wanted to buy 1 bottle of type 2 coolant. They don't sell it unless you service your car with them.

QUOTE(peejayboy @ Oct 8 2016, 03:58 PM) Stick to Honda 0W30 genuine motor oil especially for spirited driving conditions. Anytime better than Amsoil. I've used Amsoil once and never used since then. Overrated motor oil. Agree.. I am using 0W30 Honda engine oil (red bottle) & so far so good. Price is cheap too at RM160/4litre for PAO oil.

QUOTE(ADJ @ Oct 11 2016, 03:00 PM) Change EO last weekend for my City TMO to Aisin 5W30 SN/GF5 Fully Synthetic that claims to have PAO/Ester blend, RM145 for 4L pack before GST. The normal FS without PAO/Ester is RM125 for 4L pack before GST. http://aisin.com.sg/file/2015/10/Passenger...son-update2.pdfSo far done about 200km. As compared to the previous Honda SN 10W30 mineral, it's slightly smoother/quieter, but nothing mind blowing or out of this world. Then again, just normal city driving. Pricing wise seems quite ok, as they seem to be quite aggressive to penetrate Malaysia market. They also have an 0W20 normal FS (non PAO/Ester) that goes for RM115 a 4L pack without GST. I always thought Ester (Group V) oil can't be mixed with oils from Group I to IV?

I've been using Honda Genuine Engine Oil 0W30 fully synthetic (PAO blend). Recently I had to change it at only 7,500 km @ roughly about 6 months as the oil on the dip stick seems to have thicken and has a little bit of foaming.
I drive my car on a daily basis in city traffic and normally get stuck in traffic jams for 1 hour +.
If I were to push the oil to 10,000 km, it may not be good for the engine.

QUOTE(Hexane @ Mar 27 2017, 11:45 AM) From what I practice, its okay to push till that. But also consider your idling times. If you're caught in traffic most of the time, maybe changing at 9,000km is better. I use Honda Genuine SN 0W-20 and 0W-30 also. Some of those in Honda Insight LYN Group even push up till 11,000km but I think a 10,000km guideline is best. But as you said, if its already thick and foaming, maybe better to change. Just my 2 cents. Though the odometer indicated 7,500 used mileage, the engine oil actually covered more than that as most of the time I'm stuck in traffic jam.

QUOTE(CP88 @ Apr 16 2017, 12:38 AM) I'd thought from Honda website they have this 0W20. *Civic Type R and Accord V6 are recommended to use SN 0W-30 engine oil Yes but I prefer to use 0W30 as it is PAO base oil instead of group III oil for the SN0W20.

QUOTE(cempedaklife @ May 1 2017, 02:57 PM) I think my mileage would be same as you. But I would rather change every 4 months, so one year change 3 times. I think cost wise its bearable. Rather than push it to twice a year. Thats for me It's manufacturers recommendation. 6 months or 10k km. If you have the money, it's up to you to change earlier.

QUOTE(FunkEatsyou @ Oct 2 2017, 06:00 AM) 5w40 recommended for high performance car, such like honda civic will do? Newer cars seldom uses 5W40 oil nowadays. Even the civic type R is using 0W30 as recommended by Honda.
