My dad just serviced his Almera at Edaran Tan Chong Motor.. Those buggers used only 3 bottles of 1litre SN0W20 semi synthetic engine oil. The another 1 litre was added using RESTORER additives (friction modifier, hospower).
Please enlighten whether this is a good practice & can the engine oil last 10k by doing that? I personally feels more comfortable if they use only engine oil fluids. |

Another question, are larger oil filters better than the original oil filters since they should have more surface area to trap dirt particles?

Although I am using FS oil, I normally practice changing the oil every 8k interval instead of 10k. Reason being I drive in conditions which are considered extreme (e.g. hot humid weather, severe traffic jams, start stop traffic). So to be safe, I will change it earlier than the recommended 10k interval.

I noticed my engine oil has a little bit of fuel smell in it. I replaced the engine oil just traveled about 800km so far.
Is there a cause for concern? My engine total mileage is only 70,000km & I hardly trash the engine. I always stuck in traffic jams though. |

I am using Honda SN0-30 FS oil which was manufactured by Idemitsu. I change them every 8k as I am stuck in daily jam most of the time.
