Does SB chipset get affected in terms of temperature when OCing like the NB?
*
not sure for every SB, but for my previous ABIT NF7/NF7-S, NVIDIA MCP, it does. When I oc the FSB too high, eg. above 250MHz, the PS2 keyboard and mouse will freezen, but the system still running as the music still playing and BT still running. The problem solved when I put HSF on the SB which initally naked.

what's the dimension for the SB heatsink of your mobo? if it's 40mm x 40mm, you can attach a fan directly above it.

I think it should be around that size.Roughly the same size as the Noctua NB cooler's base.I thought of changing it to my previous Zalman Nb cooler but the Zalman's base isnt as big as the SB.Now, i intend to get the Enzotech NB cooler to replace the stock sb heatsink..

IMO, looking at the base of Extreme spirit II from TT is too thick, that's not good liao.
When the base is too thick, it takes a very long time for the heat to be transferred from the base to the heatpipes. smile.gif

Of cos u look from the side the base is thick.. but actually heatpipe is embedded inside that thickness so actually the heatpipe is near the baseplate IMHO

I have good result with the TT. so far im happy wif it. Also make sure to seat the Cooler in the middle of the chipset for best result..i use a bit as5 on it too.

Ofcourse if budget permits go for the Thermalright HR-05 rclxms.gif

Its trial n error. Sensor is different for everyboard and shows on speedfan differently too.

Try to increase NB's voltage in BIOS and do a stress test in windows.. Observe temperatures in Speedfan.. NB's is likely to be one of the hottest temp other then your Processor.

Well thats how i did it anyways. Dunno if the sifus here wud aggree on my method.

Have a question here that just struck my mind..

Many currently released mobo already come with heatpipe and such technology where all the chipset, pvm, mosfets are connected using heatpipes. So, does this means that they do not need aftermarket chipset cooler if they were to OC?Would they withstand the heat and pressure? If it wouldnt, how could you replace it with an aftermarket chipset cooler?

Currently, 2 of the best around should be the Noctua NC-U6 and the TR HR-05/SLI..I am not sure which is better but i do feel these 2 are the best around..

I vote for NC-U6 too.
Why go for HR-05 SLi when it's proven to be beaten by NC-U6? laugh.gif

NC-U6 reduces chipset temperature up to 5 degrees lower than HR-05 SLi. smile.gif

Currently my DFI's board chipset around 51C, when load can goes up 57, even after i changed to Zalman 1, unless i use a table fan blow directly only temp will drop till 45C++

Any solution to this high temp? icon_question.gif
