dude definately can fit...hr-05 imo can fit almost all mobos..coz it has small footprint...bt will block gc if the chipset is near the pci-e slots...ur borad sure can fit as long ur nt using some super sized cooling solution... like the ninja..so join the hr-05 revolution.hehe smile.gif  flex.gif

Thanks lolhalol for the info thumbup.gif . I have check my motherboard, got space for it drool.gif . I can't have SLI as my motherboard is old AGP 4x slot board.

I wanna ask, how to fix this cooler into the motherboard leh. As I see from their website, it's base do not have anything to fix it on to the chipset. I mean, it is come with pin hole or maybe screw or else? rclxub.gif

are this statement direct to me? sweat.gif my board is not this one, mine one have 3 PCI and have SDRAM & DDR RAM slot.

I dont think facing the IO plate will be blocked because AFAIK, the chipset cooler is taller than the standard caps.

P/s : I don't think theres a need for HR-05 on this motherboard anyway, not worth to get it on a low end board because there won't be much difference, save the money and get a better board.

So mean I do not need to buy a cooler for my nb right?

yawn.gifT: I have another question. When I check using speedfan, it will show there temp1 and temp2, as I has test, the temp2 is for my processor temperature, so the temp1 is for? rclxub.gif Normally how you guys know which one is for which item leh? icon_question.gif

Edited to add: forget to tell, the temp1 temperature is around 61C to 63C, so hot... sweat.gif temp1 lower is 39C and highest is ~47C

Why don't u use an easier way to find out the temperature of you're processor and chipset?

Wanna know how?

Easy, go get you'reself PC Wizard 2006

Here you go:
http://www.cpuid.com/pcwizard.php

Click on the link, then go to the bottom of the page, then download it, install it, run it then click on the icon that looks like a "meter" that has positive and negative symbols in the icons...

Got that?
Now go download, install then run it to know the temperature of you're processor and norhtbridge... rclxms.gif
*
Dear sHawTY, thanks for the info notworthy.gif . I am noob in all this thing, so I do not know how to check all the temperature. Even the speedfan also I read from this forum. tongue.gif

I will download and install it when I back home to see what my processor and northbridge.

Thanks a lot. rclxms.gif

dude can u post a link to ur boards specs..then we can help u out beter...or post a picture.... and also afaik most mobos(99%) have a way to mount the cooler on.... its either pushpin(amd) or the intel way ,, forgot wats it called.
*
here is the link K7VM2.

I already have a small fan to blow the northbridge, just thinking of maybe add a better cooler will make the performance better. But Rlhh say there will be no different even if I fix a hr-05 on it, so maybe I just stay with my current cooler and fan lor.

Anyway, thanks for you guys input and advise... notworthy.gif

I had test with the PC Wizard, my processor temp is ~40C - 42C, and the motheboard temp is 62C all the way. I found that my BIOS did not show the temp correctly, it show that my processor have 62C and the chasis temp 41C doh.gif . It is opposite with what show by the PC Wizard. I then check it by slow down a bit my processor fan, my processor temp will increase 1C from 40C to 41C. So, I believe PC Wizard show the correct temp and rpm for my processor & motherboard.

BTW, the motherboard temp show in PC Wizard is the northbridge temp is it? 62C is very hot right? Is it normal? unsure.gif

Yup, the motherboard temp shows to the northbridge chipset...
62, it's kinda hot...

U might wanna change u're heatsink into this:
http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...671&hl=evercool

Trust me, it'll cool you're chipset more than what you think... thumbup.gif

So, no need to go so high end chipset cooler loh... wink.gif
*
ic, thanks for the info sHawTY biggrin.gif. This heatsink very good is it? I might want to change it but not that soon. Currently quite broke...still wait for salary to come out...

Thanks.

@Rlhh, thanks for your info too. biggrin.gif

Offcourse...

That thing can never beat HR-05...

But, it should be enough for that old chipset... icon_rolleyes.gif

OK, thanks for both your advice and info. I will change to that cooler first until next time I change my whole system, then only use hr-05... drool.gif

emm...still need ask something....since my board is old, will the performance better after I fix that cooler to it? just wanna make sure before buy it...now very broke ler...need to think twice before buy... unsure.gif

bro dis depends..theres too many variables to consider... neway looks like its not gona help much coz most old chipsets dun need much cooling anyway..bt if u really intend to buy a chipset cooler... remember to get universal coolers ..like those that let u use the push pin or the other method...the hr-05 for examle  whistling.gif  thumbup.gif smile.gif the evercool  from the looks of it only uses pushpin so might nt be compatible with most intel mobos.... ( i bet ur nxt system upgradew wiill be a conrow)smile.gif ...all in all its down to u actually..bt i still stongly recomend the hr-05 over the evercool...looks,performance,and future proof...
rclxms.gif ya, you are right....the next system I wanna buy is conroe... drool.gif hmmm...since is that case, I better buy hr-05 so that I don't need to buy again next time i buy the new system...but currently I am very broke...and the hr-05 is a bit expensive... sweat.gif ...maybe wait till another 1 or 2 month... laugh.gif

Edited to add: Since I will build conroe system next time, so maybe will have sli too...so do you think I should buy hr-05 or hr-05 sli? icon_question.gif

bro both are almost similar..bt imo the hr-05 is beter coz the heat has less distance to travel in the heat pipe to the fins..bt the sli version is also good as it is more compatible with more motherboareds....
*
ic...that will be great...but I just search for the hr-05 sli from thermalright website and found that the sli one might be too big for my current motherboard where it will block by the cpu cooler or the gc or the ram... cry.gif

maybe I should buy hr-05 first, then next time change to hr-05 sli and the hr-05 maybe can put on southbridge, hopefully... drool.gif

You've got it wrongly... sweat.gif

If u're using a motherboard that is Intel chipset based motherboard, then the normal HR-05 is the best for the northbridge...

While the southbridge, it's better for you to use the HR-05 SLI... thumbup.gif

oic, so I can buy hr-05 for my northbridge first lor drool.gif ...my board now is use via chipset...next time I think I will use Intel chipset de...

mobo temps is usually totally different from the chipset. how can the mobo tempp be the chipset temp if the mobo is not even prducing alot of heat load? mobo is usually ur case temp. but of course nt every board has these...like dfi lp series, the mobo ttemp is replace by pwm temp, etc....u get the picture?
*
In this case, how we can know our chipset temp ler? Let say using speedfan, which temp is chipset temp ler?

For my case, I can only see 4 temp, there are temp1, temp2, hd0 & hd1 temp...temp2 is my proc temp, so the temp1 is mobo temp? or chipset temp? unsure.gif
