Seriously? I thought it's completely the same? Same sensor thus same pixel focus thingy, same number of AF points also.
Oh then i might be wrong. biggrin.gif

From DxO sensor test, their performance has a little difference.

who cares about video codec when choosing entry level or semi-pro level mirrorless camera when u more serious on photography than videography? furthermore, sony engineer wouldn't simply made A6000 image sensor for A5100, nor marketing suggest A5100 100% inherit A6000's performance. if really does, it will spoil A6000's market. if u really serious on video quality, go for A7S
*
Nowadays, many "hybrid" users on cameras. People want the best money spent on their investment. Best is both photo and video are good.
I'm serious on video, so same thought as you, I bought the A7S. It produce excellent photo quality too, just scarifies resolution. laugh.gif

fyi, camera makers do disable some features on lower-end models that actually already have those features on their hardware. A good example is recently, Sony's F5 being hacked and the hacker publicly announced they successfully enable the "locked" 4K video shooting feature. Just few weeks later, Sony has no choice but to officially announced that owners of the F5 camera can get this 4K feature "unlocked" from their camera but need to pay an "unlocking fees" of US$1000. laugh.gif

both image sensor is not exactly same, and certainly A6000's image sensor better than A5100, u can see the difference especially the dynamic range
*
hmm.gif Haven't survey enough for their difference. Will do more later.

Erm... But this is what ppl talking about in many photography forums. That's why I bring up this concern la. Of course it's still entry level. But the even more entry level A5100 has it. Why slightly higher level A6000 doesn't get it? That's the question biggrin.gif

Marketing wise, yeah I understand... But being priced slightly lower yet getting some of the plus make ppl like me feel unbalanced mah.

But ISO rating matches completely. Sony limiting the dynamic range and color depth on A5100? biggrin.gif

Roger that. Nice reasoning btw.

Btw... I know you all play big guns one la. Me baru start mah where can use your mindset to look at it the same way. A7? Even if I have the money for that but no, I won't allocate my money for that. That's the difference between you all who are already deep into photography and people like me which is still making the entry. To start is not something easy also... I'm just trying to get something that will last longer mah, till the next upgrade perhaps.

Anyway... Keep shooting guys. Will report back in if I really grab the A6000 biggrin.gif

Bye biggrin.gif

easy bro if u understand basic photography...

the subject distance to camera should be less then the subject distance to background...then u can achieve nice bokeh even with f3.5....

eq :

camera > subject (30cm)
subject > background (1m)

u ask a forum member named Ah Hao. he had bought A5100 and he quite regret of purchase A5100. for me, i don't like the simple design of A5100 and odd touch screen operation, as Ah Hao mentioned earlier
*
I just hate the touchscreen function, only limited for touch focus and touch shutter, then other thing like menu, setting etc totally cant use, so freaking lame feature.

But I still appreciate the smaller size though, when compare to a6000.

I suggest potential buyer dont consider touchscreen as a pros in a5100,its is really quite useless =.=
