After playing this device for almost day this is my view.

This device is not for power user & gamers. The lags is quite annoying.More if you come from a Nexus device. I hope this is just a software issues though.Although it don't heat as much as my N4 when playing games.

Screen is gorgeous.Great for reading & movie.Im having a great time reading manga in this phablet with it's screen and form factor.

Battery life is great. That 5000mah sure will last you a long time.Even with heavy usage.

Camera is nice but that's not my priority. At least it better than what you find in a Nexus. You need to tweak it if you want a batter shot.

The speaker sound is good.Im not an audiophile so can't comment much.

Out of the box points I give 7/10.

Good:1.screen 2.form factor 3.battery 4.speaker 5.camera

Bad:1.software
*
7/10 is too low I think. tongue.gif

I would put slight lag issue aside, I rate this 9/10 for the overall built. tongue.gif

Hi joytest,

very good day to you, may I know have you tested my previous weblink for the Lenovo super camera? looking forward to your reply soon. thanks a lot.

by the way, the I found that the default camera apps from MedaiPad X1 are very noisy..the photo quality just very bad, is there any idea why like that?

I am not much of a camera person but I think the pic quality is acceptable. You can browse some of the earlier posts in v1 of the thread (see link at bottom of post 2) where several members had posted sample pics.

jloi and others may comment on pic quality. Jloi is a camera person.

I did load the apk, and it does have lots of functions but I don't use filters and do like pics a little oversaturated so please don't take my word for it.

For a 2Gb RAM device, 700mb+ free is fine. In Android, free RAM is wasted RAM, unless you are running some memory hog program.

Hopefully Huawei releases newer versions of firmware and it can improve free RAM a bit, so you can run more stuff.

Software is 2 points for me .No use having great spec if the software not in harmony with it.
The other minus is from spec. I think Mali 450 can't handle the amount of pixels this device churned out. Might be the reason for the stuttering and drop in frame rate when gaming.

Build quality is top notch. That I can't argue. And I really love reading on this screen.

Coming from Sony Xperia Z1, X1 camera is no where near good quality for me sweat.gif
Especially low light it has alot noise, dull color, lack or contrast and saturation.
On day time it was OK smile.gif
I am using "A Better Camera" app instead of stock cam since it can Auto focus accurately. Waiting Kitkat come so that I can install and use Google Camera.

Does Huawei support custom dev community well?Like releasing source code? Any news on AOSP rom for this device?

I really miss my AOSP.The software side is killing me.I hope they do something good in next firmware update.

I can't find anything wrong with the software except its smoothness is not top class eg vs Nexus. However it is still acceptable to me. "Killing you " is serious n I suggest you change phone than

You can install Nova launcher with Zooper or any of the theming engines. Why restrict yourself to wait for the manufacturer? That is the beauty of Android.

True2...

After playing with the device for few days I started to accept the slightly lag and stuttering OS.(got pampered by my Nexus 4 smoothness)

Battery life is awesome. Manage to survive until I finish my shift.Something that I never enjoy with my N4.I didn't even try smart or endurance mode yet.

Reading on the device is a joy.Screen is crisp and sharp. The design and weight also made reading on long hours comfortable.Comic & manga readers this is the device of choice.

The camera can take some great picture with the right setting and conditions. Way better than my N4.Still tweaking to get better results constantly.(any recommended app?)

While playing high grafic game might drop the frame rate it is still acceptable. The device also don't heat that much during long hours of playing.

Now my wish would be AOSP rom on the device and some kernel tweaking.

Should I buy Huawei mediapad x1 the Chinese version or international version? I know the difference is radio band but I am not a heavy data user(use just wifi) since the international version is limited in my country especially the black one......

Any proper custom ROMs will only happen after Huawei releases the kernel sources.

It's for the 7D-503L. Ours is the 501L here.

I suggest you could get the 7D-503L.

Mind sharing which country you're from?
