No major issues that I know of. You might just get some minor wifi issues.

It's supposed to be a minor degradation in signal.

The 501L International version has Gapps installed. This is the model sold here by Huawei.

400 dpi. All the recent releases are 400dpi.

Sorry, reading a lot of this "400 dpi" and 320dpi" thingy on Mediapad x1, can help share with me what's all about?

It is a mode that determines how some apps appear. 400dpi makes everything look bigger, since it is treated as a "small screen" device.

320dpi makes everything smaller, since it tells apps that the device is "large screened".

Some apps may not work properly in 400 dpi though the number is very small.

got myself a Galaxy Tab s 8.4.. thought of wanna replace my X1..

but i'm now really torn apart.. after trying to use it, put aside my X1, really feels there are some trade off..

first of all, size.. X1 has been a perfect size for my media consumption, because it is pocketable.. the tab s 8.4 is really not pocketable.. can't get into any of my pant's pocket.. lol.. so using it to listen to music is cumbersome as i need to hold it all the time.. i always use X1 while working in the lab to listen to music.. so for this tab S, its not possible as it needs me to hold it (my hands need to hold pipette!)

but on another note, the bigger screen is a benefit when it come to viewing, of course.. web browsing, movies etc.. and reading as well.. love it to read journals. but, also due to larger size, it is harder to hold longer for typing, its more convenient on X1.

battery life.. its nowhere near to what X1 have.. although battery capacity Tab S=4900 mah, X1=5000mah.. but tab S battery life is just pretty standard like other smartphones.. while X1 battery life is super long.. so its another trade off..

sound quality! uhhhh... being a chinese manufactured, new boy in the block, but the X1 sounds a lot better when listening music via earphones compared to Tab S.. its a bit surprising, and seems like samsung really neglected this part of area.

design wise and functionality though, i have to give it to Tab S.. beautifully crafted, very slim, good design, good screen (but i still prefer X1 IPS screen, more natural), fingerprint, microSD slot, stereo loudspeaker, LTE, it have almost anything you want for a mobile device.. Touchwiz also added many more personalised functions.

so, for those of you who think to switch to Tab S, think again.. for me, there is still nothing in the current market that can replace X1.. its almost perfect! if i can turn back time, i will not buy a Tab S 8.4 if it is just to replace X1. but now that i already did.. one of them must go, as usual.. for future proof, i think i have to choose Tab S, sadly..

X1 still the best!

Nice. Pinned to post 2.

Pocketable size is a very important factor for me as well.

From a spec perspective, Nexus 9 wins hands down.

However, I believe the main tradeoffs are pocketability, storage and likely battery life.

Im not going to carry it around that much.My only concern is storage & aspect ratio.Early review doesn't seems show N9 have good result. Maybe wait the price drop also.

This aspect ratio thing....when we went 16:9 from 4:3, people wrote justifications, now we swing back to 4:3, another round of justifications.

I got used to 4:3 from my early involvement with computing, then spent some time adjusting to 16:9....now back again (if it actually does change).

even though X1's price is similar to ipad mini 2 i chose X1 because of its design, size and battery, i will only use it for gaming and movies. it's still pocket-able but for a phone this size it is too big for me.

I treat my X1 like a tablet more than a phone. That's why I prefer tablet mode.Lollipop looks great on tablet. I hope we get to at least that upgrade or no more Huawei for me.

I do agree that there is currently no other that can replace this Mediapad X1. For me, it still almost complete. I have managed to change the firmware of 7d-501L to 7d-503L firmware which is running at emui 3.0. It worked wonder and the phone is much faster now. Even the ram management is better, it have about 1GB free ram. Just that this firmware does not have google services but that can be installed very easy without rooting the phone. EMUI 3.0 is really nice, so far the firmware is good, it have not lag or hang.

Bro, mind sharing how to fake 501L to install a 503L ROM ?

I downloaded the EMUI 2.3 320dpi beta, but can't install it.
