Bro, mind sharing how to fake 501L to install a 503L ROM ?

I downloaded the EMUI 2.3 320dpi beta, but can't install it.

My Chinese is not good enough to read thru long blocks of text on huafans tongue.gif

Hi Joytest, that is what I did to update the 7d-503L firmware,

1) Download the attachment is this page (download.zip), http://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-med...20-dpi-t2923307
2) Unzip the file, you will find 2 folders and 2 file. Copy all the content to your microsd and put it under dload folder.
3) replace the update.app with the EMUI 2.3 320dpi beta update.app that you have downloaded earlier.
4) insert to your phone and reboot, it will start the firmware update.

Note: Please ensure your data is backup as it will erase all the data and content.

I hope this help as this is what I did for the EMUI 3.0 beta.

Hoho this one....ok, coz I asked the thread as the instructions weren't clear that it was to fake a 501L to take the 503L ROM.

Thanks. Probably try tonight.

I'm guessing root works, but not Xposed....how is your experience?

Note 4 is the longest I've held off rooting so far (already 5 weeks) .... all the rest were within 2 weeks or less.

Find it hard to get around the conveniences that Xposed affords, not to mention Titanium.

X1 is rooted, with Titanium, but without Xposed, it's like only half done.

I do agree that there is currently no other that can replace this Mediapad X1. For me, it still almost complete. I have managed to change the firmware of 7d-501L to 7d-503L firmware which is running at emui 3.0. It worked wonder and the phone is much faster now. Even the ram management is better, it have about 1GB free ram. Just that this firmware does not have google services but that can be installed very easy without rooting the phone. EMUI 3.0 is really nice, so far the firmware is good, it have not lag or hang.

Hi pwf, if I update my 501L to 503L is there will be any problem with the 4G? And where to download the 503L with EMUI 3.0 firmware? Thanks.

Sorry to interject the current ROM topic.

I'm on B007, run very well without issue except one: I just did not get notification on apps icon! There's notification on "Notification Panel".

e.g. I received an Whatsapp/SMS/email message, notice appear in Notification Penal, but the relevant icon no indication of "1", this happen in every apps I mentioned above. I've try to check out "setting/Notification Manager --> Rules: ALL Allow". (what's the different between "Allow" and "Notify"?)

Notification on the app icon is a property of the launcher. It is not default behaviour in Android.

Nova launcher has a plug in that allows this. Not familiar with other launchers.

Tks Joytest. But even the default Huawei EMUI 2.3 launcher also exhibit similar characteristic! I have tested Next launcher, Windows 8 launcher. KK Prime launcher, semua sama, no "notification" on apps icon!

P/S: Default launcher does indicate the number of SMS message, but not email or whasapp.

I guess because Android has a richer notifications system than that other platform, showing a number on the app icon was probably not something necessary in the design.
