Hoping this is one of the other Zelda games for Wii U.
Hopefully the old tech demo of Zelda from the previous E3 is a different Zelda game.

seems like they promise the world is seamless.. means going into dungeons without loading! cool..

dont think there will be 2 Zelda games on Wii U (Hyrule Warriors doesnt count)

i believe they chose to use WindWaker+Skyward Sword art styles for the new Zelda U game

There are 2 Zelda games(Not including Crossbow training) on Wii before so I'm hoping there is another one. I don't see why there should be less Zelda

Ermmm. With NX is not the new console but a peripheral then maybe they wanna incorporate the new thing in this game? Thus delaying it.

Watched the E3 stream, looks like ZeldaX

it doesn't fit into wind waker timeline imho
before ww, just flood after ocarina of time
after ww which leads to phantom hourglass, which is still flood and already no sign of master sword (stuck at ganon's head in ww?)
and then spirit tracks, with big *new* hyrule land yes but master sword totally gone (lokomo sword shines instead) and there should be some train tracks seen... so no~

if the game take place on old hyrule it might be possible since there's no mention if its still flooding or not...

and then there's that bridge of eldin great bridge of hylia that looks like from tp and some say its the long bridge from zelda ii...

and then link wake up from a resurrection shrine, suggesting some failure have brought into saving the world and seeing that how experienced link is using all sorts of weapons without holding hands or guides or training like previous links had... totally a sequel to a game but what?

so much mystery unsolved...

EDIT: wrong bridge that other one very deep and can't confirm have stream or not, hylia bridge got a huge lake but the height between bridge and lake seems shorter in BotW than in TP...

well it's just an early speculation made by a lot of people after the first few hours of reveal. two thing that i remembered why it is probably on wind waker timeline is Korok being in the game, and Link is asleep for 100 years. The Link part being asleep for 100 years might explain why the hero doesn't appear when Ganondorf unsealed during the early timeline prior to the great flood.
But another theory is that this game is on Fallen Hero timeline, with Link being recovered for 100 years after his battle with Ganondorf. (this one is because the starting place is called Shrine of Resurrection. This one kinda support your speculation.

The game doesn't show much (or any) special gamepad intergration. Assuming standard controller for NX? Or the return of the motion controller?

Seeing PS4 adopting VR and PC as well, while Xbox dropping their Kinect stuff, I believe like you mentioned as well, they're coming out with a new controller system for their NX. Depends on what is their killer for NX, I dont want to get another home console already.

Latest rumour: Will Axe BOTW WII U version and become switch exclusive.

Reminds me of the original ShenMue...it was developed halfway for the Saturn, then get axed when the Saturn was put out of commission and became a Dreamcast exclusive release.

There was even video released for the Saturn Shenmue version (but it looks extremely crap compared to Dreamcast).....the WiiU BOTW at least looks respectable and similar except maybe suffering from low frame rates.

that rumour is rubbish. it originated from a newly created goo blog which the rumour post is the only post there.
plus, the hint the blogger said where listing on amazon jp, bic camera etc are removed are 100% wrong since those shop never list stuff that haven't get an exact release date, unlike online shops in the rest of the world where item will be listed even when there's no exact date (they might put placeholder date which some people ends up thinking that's the real release date lol)

Still having doubt if I want to buy the game just to collect it, dont think I am going to purchase the Switch and hardly have time for WiiU.

Adulthood is just so limited time.

I have to admit that if I am not into my new hobby this and switch will be my day 1 purchase. This zelda is too gorgeous

Ahhh,I'm tempted to get of of this.

Now the story will never be complete without DLCs (and seriously they could have put Cave of Ordeals-like / Hard Mode with amiibo instead like TPHD)

Also $20 maybe nothing to the US, dafuq they're now crushing us even more

And Zelda have always been "complete" games and you can revisit to enjoy the full game, but since DLCs are only available within the Switch's lifetime and what if EOLed, you will no longer access to those DLCs anymore...

This is why I hate DLC practices and I rather wait for GOTY or Complete Edition if there is one...

my take for story dlc in general is:
1. if it's being made before the main game is finished. that's shit but sometimes understandable but not always. some publisher do demand for the game to be finished & shipped before certain deadline, forcing the dev to cut contents just to meet deadline
2. if it's being made after the main game is finished, I would take it as omake, or bonus chapter. like in manga where this extra chapter which usually sometimes not related to main story at all or sometimes gives some extra point of view towards the characters that we don't see in the main story. not every avid fan ends up buying the manga volume when they just read from the weekly/monthly magazine that it first published on.

while this are obviously false equivalency, do you go back to ocarina of time 64 and suddenly realized that the game isn't really complete since it doesn't have master quest like gamecube or 3ds version? or since you feel game will be incomplete, do you avoid playing every modern game that has downloadable game updates? since those are also pretty much render out of box base game "incomplete"

as for why not putting pack 1 dlc to amiibo instead, I guess you didn't encounter even once tphd ganondorf amiibo complaint fiasco last year in the internet?

edit: in no way i'm saying "shut up just accept it and move on" lol. I do get the complaints. even I didn't like some of the way they're announcing this.

actually I am aiming for canon-ity so missing out a certain storyline that really a core part of the entire plot will make me feel left out a lot, so mangas are out of the question

while ocarina of time does got updated with fixes and tweaks for newer platforms and Master Quest, they are in fact complete with their storyline intact and does not depend on service availability from Nintendo (eg: no longer can get Rotom alternate forms in Pokemon Platinum since Nintendo Wifi Connection was long dead unless inject AR codes)

modern games from Steam etc however has GOTY/Complete edition and I rather buy that instead of buying several separate DLCs + 1 main game, both economical reasons and replayability...

no. manga equivalence is appropriate. I've seen a lot of series having bonus chapter on the series final volume that happens either after final chapter or somewhere in between that is consider canon that doesn't in magazine during weekly/monthly publish

while I get your point of availability of the service, your example isn't a good one tbh. there's a difference between paid dlc availability & giveaways.

as for amiibo case, there's too many complaint about them. lazy to list but the common ones are:
-why the heck you didn't do paid dlc Nintendo instead of doing this
-why am I wasting money to buy that trash figure
-how easy can I get that amiibo now?

there's no multiplayer

In game development the scenario and art department usually finish their work long long before the game itself get gold. They either move on to their next project right away or use the time in between to create additional contents. It's unlikely that Nintendo is cutting up contents to sell it piecemeal, and you'll not get it included in the main game for free unless they delay the release date (again).

just seen the preview video and my god , I never felt any excited for any zelda game before this until now.

Less than a week away and there is no digital version on eshop to pre-order or even a pre-load option before launch like other major games. Very few local suppliers (hi Kyo!) taking orders for this too.

Complaints aside, I'm still very excited to play this.

Phew, good to know that about the Europe eshop offering the preload option already.

Hopefully everything goes well with the local supplier stock and Maxsoft, I just want to play the game at the end of the day. Not going to bother about Master or Special editions anymore though it's a pretty d*ck move by Nintendo to make Master/Special edition only for Switch version considering this game was originally designed for the Wii U.

Already pre-ordered my, Switch version. Initially wanted to buy the WiiU version but you have to tie down at home to play. So, I ended up getting the Switch version as I can play anytime and anywhere. Great.

It's not Fallen Timeline nor Adult Timeline but BOTW seems to be unifying all of them...

The game opening reminds me of Shadow of the Colossus which is not surprising because those games borrowed heavily from past Zelda games.

Just got out of the first area after earning the Paraglider and got a horseback to the first village.

Still severely underpowered, found a secret boss in the Great Plateau but couldn't beat it yet. I mark its location and promised to be back haha.

Where to buy the game? Is it out on hard copy already?

Sad to say because of the art direction and game engine used, the colors looked pretty rubbish and muted when playing on the Wii U Gamepad screen. Maybe it's better on the Switch screen but I'm not sure by how much.

Definitely looks much better playing on a TV screen, it doesn't have the vibrant colors of Wind Waker because of its art design. I prefer WW art style for sure.

I'm at the point of trying to recover the lost memories.
More than 12 hours in it's pretty good as expected.

While you might find the side quest and stuff lacking at the start, once you go on further, there is much more missions for you to complete.

While it's true that while the world is really huge but it lacks a lot of stuff while you are exploring. But the issue goes away once you can ride a horse, travelling is fast and you'll have much stuff to do in between one point to another. Walking is definitely a no no, takes too long at the start lol

havent reach botw turn yet, too many unfinished games

Almost 30 hours in and i'm really loving the game. I saw at howlongtobeat website that it took 30h plus to finish the main story only and I think that's very inaccurate. Pretty sure once i'm done i'd clock around 100h or more. I haven't even clear all the shrines yet or even get to the highest tower to unlock half of the other map. There is so much to do and i'll be happy to clear them all. I'm pretty sure i'm not even half way done yet.

Love the part that you can pretty much do any quest you want and go to whichever place you want to advance the game. Definitely one of the best game so far this year.

how hard to increase your life bar (hearts), from the screenshot around the net, notice most ppl still with default 3 hearts.

Eshop says this game has more than 100 shrines hidden, that is one truly massive game !

So much to see and do in the game, finding the hidden memories is going to be tough just using a photo as reference but rewarding to see the voiced cut scenes.

You do no go head on with a Lynel, just stealth.

I'm at 11 hearts now. All you need to do is find all the shrines. Also if you do Divine Beast and clear it, you'll get one heart as well.

If you found those horse stable place, there is always the travel dude to help you pinpoint which image is located where. It will narrow down ur search and makes things easy. One photo hint for each different stable.

The horse stables are quite rare too tbh, why can't it be as many as shrines lol.

I'm always too far away from my horse or stable to call a horse to my aid, wished the horse was like Roach from The Witcher 3 where it magically appears whenever you called.

There is two or so in each region I think. Yeah it's not everywhere. Apparently with fast travel, I don't have much issue and in need of the horse much. Best thing to do is when exploring for shrines, just travel to the highest tower which unlocks the map region. And just glide your way to where you want to go. Lots of climbing and gliding.

I wish we could call the horse as well, but i think they want to discourage people from just running around the world with a horse, because you'll skip a lot of stuff that you are suppose to enjoy and explore.

Aku dh agak dah. That stealth armor is the most useful one, i always use it for kinda everything. I'll try to do the thing he did in the video next time.
