anyone done MSI monitor rma before? I had a similar issue to this https://www.reddit.com/r/Monitors/comments/...razy_artifacts/ barely 1 year old since purchase. Don't even bother try fill the online web form. you will get errors https://www.reddit.com/r/MSI_Gaming/comment...nding_web_form/ even the live chat is only for US customers only. and the contact for msi malaysia ask u to click to find out their email, after which that also errors. The only thing that worked was calling the malaysia service center number. And you only can get the email AFTER you phone them. So it's not like there isn't an email, just they don't properly list it. Then during calls session, i explained the issue. The fella was like, did you check other cable. And did you try on a different machine. basically pointless questions, because he and i both know it's the monitor that is faulty since it's a common issue as posted on social media. So all that is doing is stalling. But i sus he realized i knew what i was talking about so he stopped beating around the bush and proceeded with my rma request. i sent screenshot and video as proof. I sus they get many such requests so seems like he just okayed it afaik. So here is the million dollar question. Who pays for shipping? cause on social media u got many scary msi rma experience, one of which is the buyer has to cover the shipping themselves. But actually for Malaysia that's not the case. I asked and he said msi will cover collection and delivery at no cost to the buyer. So that is one worry off my mind. I don't know are they going to straight up replace or repair. But it's a 3 year warranty, and it's already the 1st year. I can't say yet whether malaysia msi monitor rma is good or not since not yet completed, but i'll report back here. they will collect 1 day after i made rma claim request. so that at least was fast. will they ship back replacement equally fast? no idea. I'm guessing 1-2 weeks. You have to print out the collection slip. They ask you to package in the original box with styrofoam. Luckily i still had it because i'm a hoader. In their fine print they said if the monitor is damaged during transport, they wont cover any fixes for that But this was my first msi monitor. It's a MAG 274QRF QD E2 I enjoyed the monitor but it was dying within this past week or so (maybe earlier but i didn't notice till now when it became very obvious). my previous Dell and Hp monitors lasted many years before they started acting weird. So i'm disappointing with MSI for how long it lasted. The only saving grace i didn't spend too much on this. But it will make me reluctant to get another msi even if their rma was rock solid. How can it only last 1 year? and online i saw this is a common occurrence. Anyone else experience this with msi monitor? Mine is a 2023 model fyi PS: how is rma for asus and gigabyte monitor in malaysia? is it reliable? So while trying to figure out the rma i was checking out other monitors. This was a nice oled monitor by gigabyte https://www.tech-critter.com/gigabyte-mo27q...monitor-review/ But then i read here to wait for the upcoming model QUOTE Wait for mo27q27g 280hz, a tandem woled for $499. Coming out this july or august https://www.reddit.com/r/OLED_Gaming/commen...igabyte_mo27q2/ another cheaper oled (its still expensive. but cheaper as in relative to the other oled offerings currently) was this AOC https://www.rtings.com/monitor/reviews/aoc/...n-pro-ag276qzd2 But it has some cons. So i thought the gigabyte was better If you don't want to pay 2-3k, then you have to look at ips monitor for 27'' 1440p This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jul 14 2025, 12:25 PM Skylinestar and gobiomani liked this post

QUOTE(ycs @ Jul 14 2025, 12:16 PM) how old is yours? i bought mine in 2024, so is 1 year old. i check the label says manufactured 2023.Maybe i just got unlucky Nice sig quote by the way. i'll try not to be too sad. things seem to be moving in a positive direction at least so far. I can save my money and not buy an oled monitor. Prices for oleds have been falling. they quoted oled was 1k usd last time, now is like 400-500 usd. So prices for oled are coming down, and probably more in the following years. So i rather make do with this ips and wait for those prices to come down more. most seem to be fixated on 4k, but for 4k monitor usually u need the highest end graphics card and a good cpu to match it to push the fps for 4k gaming especially. for me, 1440p 27'' is just fine, that's what i usually buy these days. Free sync cause i use and amd graphics card rx7800xt This post has been edited by Moogle Stiltzkin: Jul 14 2025, 12:29 PM gobiomani liked this post

QUOTE(ben3003 @ Jul 16 2025, 02:29 AM) this is because techcritter didn't thoroughly review the monitor "properly" - which is why I said before that malaysian tech reviewers have tendency to perform flawed, dirty and incomplete reviews. incl reviewers in lowyat net (the official site) also. hope that improves soon.1. SDR in OLED will always be at pretty low nits of brightness 2. HDR is more complicated here - when it says it can output peak 1000 nits, it means that it can produce "1000 nits at 2% window". contrary to something like a Mini LED TVs or monitors which can actually output close to (or more than) 1000 nits at 25% window (some even can sustain close to that at 100% window), OLEDs simply cannot do that or else its organic compound in "O"LED wears out even faster. at 100%, HDR brightness in OLED usually will drop down to ~250cd/m2. this applies to all QD-OLED and WOLED monitors in the current market EXCEPT for high end OLED TVs such as the LG G5. 3. in different HDR mode, the ABL a.k.a. Automatic Brightness Limiter behaves differently. for example my current monitor FO32U2P when set to HDR Peak 1000, ABL kicks in quite high. however when set to normal HDR mode where peak brightness is ~450cd/m2, ABL kicks in less likely resulting in overall brightness being brighter than HDR Peak 1000. the only thing Peak 1000 mode is good at is that it can show >1000cd/m2 when 2% window. at 10%, brightness immediately drops to ~460cd/m2. 4. when testing HDR on windows 11, need to tell the OS that ur monitor can output 1000/cdm2 at HDR by using Windows HDR Calibration Tool. after using the tool to calibrate, an EDID (extended display identification data) will be created that tells OS that "yes, my monitor is capable of outputting 1000/cdm2 peak brightness" (case by case basis). then what's the point of OLED monitor? I can think of a few reasons - actual true black without blooming artifacts, instant response time without degradation at all Hz range, great colour accuracy and coverage etc. honestly when I watch HDR movies or play HDR games, I enjoy it a lot. why should u avoid current OLED monitors then? I also can think of a few reasons - lower sustained full windows brightness (~250 nits at 100% window), QD-OLED raised black issue (will be a deal breaker if u have a directly lamp on top of ur QD-OLED monitor), QD-OLED and WOLED gamma shift at different Hz when VRR is turned on (will be a deal breaker if ur fps sways a huge range in dark scenes with VRR turned on - gamma shift means black all the sudden becomes a bit grey in a split second for x amount of times - resulting in VRR flicker. WOLED is even worse, if u cap ur fps, the gamma shift is sustained), poor text clarity exclusively for non-4K monitors (e.g. 27" 1440p, u will notice blurry text with red and green banding if on QD-OLED, or simply just blurry on WOLED. on 4K 27" or 32" the issue is no longer perceptible due to high PPI) the display guy a.k.a. graphically challenged is even worse, dogshit review + clickbait + ragebait (I remember once he said a display was glossy, not knowing that it had protective cover on). lapsap reviews from him. his graphically challenged youtube channel also use same formula, sampah in sampah out iirc latest tandem OLED from LG can sustain around 300 nits at 100% windows. 50 nits more but still an improvement. always rely on RTINGS and Monitors Unboxed for monitor reviews guys! TFTCentral also gooding as they actually teach u about monitor behaviors. This post has been edited by lolzcalvin: Jul 16 2025, 09:02 PM Moogle Stiltzkin and gobiomani liked this post
