The SI2 stone has bad proportions. Confirm leak light.

The VS2 stone is also quite borderline to me. If you can see the stone physically and like it, then can consider if the total price is below 4.25k together with 18k ring, if not, then you have other options like Zcova.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Thanks for the prompt reply sir. I’ve seen both stone physically and the VS2 is indeed looks better. Price with 18k ring is manageable at below 3.6k, is that a good buy? Budget is too constrained, do you have any other suggestions, aside from sourcing online?

Thank you.

The price looks reasonable enough, considering the seller will of course earn some profit. I would strongly suggest you to view the arrows of the diamond to make sure they are more or less well-aligned enough, if not better.

Other suggestion including visiting Wah Chan at both MV and 1U. At least that is what other forumer suggested. They have quite a lot of options too at reasonable prices. But from the looks of it, it seems that your stone may already be a Wah Chan stone... I guess.

looking at the heart & arrow with my “cacat” eye, the arrow seems to be an “ok”, was properly aligned.
wow really a sifu, it is indeed from wah chan. So the price is reasonable for the VS2 stone right?
and for comparison, besides wah chan is there any physical shop would have better bargain for a decent stone?

Actually you can try other brick and mortar too.. Like Habib. You can then have the chance to compare with a better cut diamond like Hearts of Fire, which is distributed by Habib.

If can, try to compare the stone you intend to buy against the brick and mortar signature range of stones. For Wah Chan, it will be Solitaire Club.

Back to the VS2 stone. Price wise, it is certainly okay if we consider the 4Cs alone because the total price is good. Just make sure you really like what you see and don't rush into things. If possible, look for diamonds with a 34.5 crown angle and a 40.8 pavilion angle. That is the closest you can get to the original ideal proportions determined by Tolkowsky.

really appreciate for your input. i will try to have a look at Habib and other stores, is Tomei’s price consider ok?

ya, the VS2 stone is actually pretty decent for me with the price quoted, even though there’s something with the stone and i couldn’t say why, thus i gotta survey and see more stone before my purchase.

Tomei I believe can nego like any other store. You will be surprised even DeGem price can be good too, if you can nego.

Hmm? Something with the VS2 stone? Anyway, do survey and find out more. Let me know if anything. Good luck.

sir, got 1 really newbie question, if the diamond is having character of being crystal or feather, is it considered as a bad stone?

Depends on the stone's clarity and the inclusion location.

For instance, a VVS1 with feather is much better than a SI2 with feather... And usually I don't prefer to buy something with feather at the edge of the stone...

ohh then it’s a relief for me. Because i visited habib and found their stone which is surprisingly bargain, and their casing is able to give quite a lot of discount, even though the casing design is a bit of old fashion
Im starting to have quite an headache due to the limited budget and time also mega_shok.gif

Try to look for stones that have a newer certification date. Some stones that have been there for tooooo long are usually there for some reason.

Try to make your 4C requirements clear. Also, if you can set your own proportion tolerance level, it is even better as it can speed up the process.

sir, got a question regarding the criteria you mentioned previously.
for a stone’s report, if it’s around Sep-Dec 2018 will it considered very old?
actually for my budget, the weight i can go max is only 0.30, so im certain on this. Now only bow down to the cut>clarity>colour, not sure how to choose sometimes sad.gif

No. That is not old. What I meant by old was like a few years back at least. Sometimes even the cert is still an old version.

May I know your budget?
