QUOTE(charkoteow3 @ Jun 25 2014, 04:13 PM) Thank you Clem1982. you can get away with a good 600W PSU but a little more headroom doesn't hurt actually... the 550W can power the rig but I'm not sure what plans you will have for your GPU.. and the Silverstone one is fully modular as wellDo I really need a 650W PSU? Was thinking about ditching out the HDD and grab another SSD. Also, the BitFenix Colossus-M might be too tall for my liking, but are the provided fans quiet enough? A Cooler Master 130 Elite is a lot cheaper, might be able to throw in an air cooler for the cpu and a few 'quieter' fans. You can grab another SSD, no problem if you do not require that much space So far the Spectre fans are good, generally quiet, Understand about the BitFenix chassis yup no doubt the Elite 130 is smaller but before you go and buy extra fans and a cooler... have you actually seen the space limitation? you can only have a single 120mm fan at the front and your air cooler would have to be a c-type... I'd go with an AIO WC unit to save space |

Hi, my old dell from 2006 just had its motherboard die on me, now I wish to get a new desktop.
However, I wish to not spend too much on it yet. I'm hoping to get a decent spec PC, though.. Err I'm not sure how much I can spend. So keep it RM1.3k for now? I already have everything else, with a 23" Dell IPS display. Can anyone recommend me? I already have a Samsung 160GB and WD Green 640GB so I intend to salvage those. ALSO salvaging my DVD burner along with the TP-link PCI wireless receiver for wifi. I plan on upgrading it in future, step by step, so basic specs are okay, will still need an average graphic card for DOTA 2, though. Thanks! |

My previous computer runs on Pentium D 3GHz, with GeForce 8600GT, 1.5GB DDR2 ram, stupid question but should the performance be a lot better with this rig? I shall google more on it but was wondering if you can share your opinion with me. Yup,you can change the processor to an i5 or i7 or Intel Xeon, but the processor have to be compatible with the motherboard. The i3 i suggested is of Haswell architecture, which uses socket 1150/LGA1150,which is what the motherboard(Asrock B85M-Pro4) supports. |

The psu you've recommended me, is it just enough for the 750? Is 750 the best it can support? Let's say if I were to choose on a slightly better one, say a 760, will it hold? Also I'm seeing discussions of comparisons between 750 TI with R9 270, which do you think is better? Thanks! You don't need to upgrade the Mobo to get a better GPU. Intel follows a "tick tock" product life cycle. The current Haswell processors are under the "Tock" cycle, meaning it's a completely new architecture and featuring new LGA 1150 socket. The next refresh would be Broadwell under "Tick", while still remaining under the same socket. After that, Intel will come out with a new socket all together, and the cycle repeats itself again. So the board that you have should be able to support the upcoming Broadwell processors (I have no idea when this will be released though). More read here. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I would suggest going with at least a good 500W PSU in order to have support for GTX 760 / R9 270. Definitely, R9 270 is faster than GTX 750 Ti. R9 270 is not in the chart below, but it is roughly faster than HD 7870 and slower than R9 270X. » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by rav3n82: Jun 26 2014, 11:24 AM |

The 780 Ti might just last a little longer(3-4 years maybe?). Or an R9 290? This post has been edited by charkoteow3: Jun 26 2014, 05:42 PM |
