Should we make a list for rigs in ________ category and ______ budget?

Hasn't it always been copy and paste? Haha.

Nah don't think so. Budgets of often vary a lot, coupled with different usages. It's better to recommend based on their wants and needs in the thread.

i7 4770K OC's sweet spot is how many GHz?
*
There is no sweet spot. It all depends on silicon lottery. Most can reach 4.2-4.3GHz without much hassle. Some goes up to 4.5-4.7Ghz with careful voltage management and proper cooling. Rare golden chips hit 5GHz. You'll only know how far your chip can go if you spend the whole day tinkering with it.

But truth to be told, it does nuts for gaming. If you want high powered OC computing, get a X79 based system with a cheaper GPU. Otherwise, clocking the 4770K to 4.2Ghz is enough.

Noted and can run at 4.2Ghz 24/7?
*
Why do you need 4.2GHz for 24/7 for ? Yes it can, but you definitely need a powerful AIO to keep it frosty.

I suggest you build your rig around the Intel Core i7-4930K. OC like hell with six cores to play with, if you need CPU power that much.

Business not there yet to support a RM1.8k processor  sweat.gif
*
Well, you could get the cheaper Core i7-4820K @ RM1070. Then upgrade in the future. brows.gif

But seriously what do you run for 24/7? Games or torrenting doesn't take much CPU power. If it's graphics intensive you only need a Xeon E3 1230-V3 paired with a powerful GPU.

Yeah that build is fine. But I would suggest getting the RAM I suggested earlier. Otherwise, good enough build.

No.

Not for now but might as well. Cause any bugs on design on lower end boards ( Ahem maximus Hero ) etc
its been fixed or should have been fixed.
*
Feeling like flogging off my current board and getting one of the nice looking MSI or Gigabyte ones. But meh, that's just the itch. Will wait for the newer processors to be launched first.

QUOTE(y4ng @ May 14 2014, 11:39 PM)
hello sifus,

i see most of the time you guys recommend i5 4440..why not the higher range e.g. 4690? cos of price or cos the difference can be ignored?
*
You mean the Core i5-4670? Well, simple. Most if the rigs here requested are for gaming. So resources are mostly allocated towards a powerful GPU, with the occasional SSD. Why? Having a Core i7-4770K or a Core i5-4440 as a processor has very minimal impact to your gaming capabilities. Unless your specifically requested high cpu demand power computing rigs, then we a're more likely to give a Core i5-4440/Gigabyte 290 combo than a 4770K/GTX760 Setup.

Here's an example.
user posted image

So whether you even have an old 2500K, doesn't matter. Gaming has little bearing on how your gaming performance is going to be, at most 3-5fps tops.
See where the crazy expensive 3960X is? It's not at the top.

Oh btw guys, you can actually build a super budget WC setup. Get a basic XSPC kit, add this to your 750Ti and you'll have the ultimate budget WC build.

why would you wanna WC a GTX750Ti?? the card is not a very hot card to begin with.. can't think of anything other than bling... cause if you want performance there's always the Gtx760 mini
*
Nothing wrong with keeping your card under 45℃. biggrin.gif

But yeah, it's mostly for bling. Option for people with budget rigs to build a WC system.
