My glider still havent wake up and its almost 2am, i m not sure he is sleeping or not and if i go kacau him he crab(so should i kacau him) cos its supposed to eat his food-_-i wan him to follow time table le or else a lot of ants.(will ants bite sugar glider?)

i had the best time early this morning watching my sg eating. I was sitting directly infront of it and it didnt crab. he seem to like grapes also(is it ok for him to eat the grapes after 5hours its been left there?)

today i m going to sunway pyramid to buy the bonding pouch. I saw some of the pouch in the internet and it was really nice.

your glider will probably take just a short while to get used to the pouch. the difficult part is getting your glider INTO the pouch. i slowly ushered mine into the pouch and next thing i knew, she was sleeping in it.

bear in mind that gliders have different temperament and habits although they're generally nocturnal. gliders will crab when they get afraid or agitated. during early stages of bonding, you'll have to bear with it. if you back off when the glider crabs, it'll get the idea that crabbing will discourage you, so just ignore the crabbing lol.

forcing the glider to eat according to time will be difficult, if not impossible. just leave their staple diet in a dish, when they want to eat, they will eat. try to hand feed them fruits and mealworms. handfeeding will probably take a lot of patience, because the glider is still new, its afraid of you. starting it will slowly come to you, smell smell, maybe run away and come back, and finally when its confident you're not there to eat him/her, the glider will take a bite
you can also try dipping your finger in yoghurt and let your glider lick off your fingers.

tip: baby gliders may not like mealworms at 1st. what you do is chop off the head, squeeze the guts out abit, and 'bribe' your glider, let him/her suck the juices. once they start, they'll automatically help themselves. you know you're on your way when your glider runs to you when you're holding a mealworm

get rid of the ants. your glider will probably lick them up anyway lol

my glider loves grapes too. as long as its not over 12 hrs i think its fine. clean up leftover food.

I made a mistake by offering them large pvc pipe as their hideout...end up the urine of the male sugar glider annoyed the whole house...swicth back to coconut shell now...lau eh.,...

Not to sure whether the guy's name is Jeff or not haha anyways, with regards to them escaping from a drawstring pouch, well, that can happen if they want to get out of the pouch. But if you're always guarding them, then that's fine. After a while. you'll know your glider best. For me, I bring my glider everywhere -- to work, to the shops, etc and he's just in his drawstring pouch. I'm always keeping an eye on him so : )

With regards to him not waking up eventhough it's 2am -- that's normal la -- usually if the lights are turned on -- they won't bother to get up. Mine doesn't. As long as the lights are on, he'll go on sleeping which is a bad thing so I usually turn the lights off and he'll get up but --- these days he wakes up at about 1am or so -- so that's when I prepare his dinner lol

You should clear the food dish after 12 hours la max : )~~~ no worries wan la.

Ants..hmm it depends -- if its red ants -- they bite anything that moves lol~~~~ try to give the whole place a good wipedown or change the position of where the cage is at until the ants have stopped making an appearance there. Then return it to the same spot. Just be sure that you give the area a good clean every time la~~~ hopefully that'll get rid of them. So far, I've got no trouble with ants. I always wipe the cage and the area next to it with baby wipes haha~~~

My Pickles' pee really smells! I think I would need someone to recommend a good, strong deodourant to help with this problem. lol

male glider pees to mark their terrories...the only thing I fine which help with the odor is the smell remover for small animal....AZOO 1 smell goods...i will try more brand soon...but the spray will not permanent solve the problem.

my idea is ...keep only female glider...they are more tame n less crabbing n most importantly they do not pee here pee there....
now I have to place my glider cage outside of the house....my hosemates all bising....

Yah hahaha... so she is rarely bored... she gets to climb anywhere and everywhere in my room... sometimes she goes missing the whole afternoon and later at night come out to cari makan, then later go missing again. Sure curled up somewhere to sleep.

I'm gonna add a hanging tissue box and more ropes and strings later on.

they are more suitable than rope I think....coz when u wanna disinfect it...u just boil hot water n dip them in....n they dry fast too...

She don't pee on the rope, so all quite dry.... poo always on floor so I sweep... but I wonder where all the jio go coz I can't find pee... LOL... oh wait, normally she pees on me hahaahh..

Hahah... most of the things in storage boxes and my shelves aren't used anymore... just rotting there... so pretty ok to find certain stuff coz those that I need are easy to find in places I stored them... the hardest creature to find when its asleep is Kiah loh.

i was wandering if its normal for glider to lick their hand while they r eating, sumtime he roll and lick his tail and body.Then i came across glider sm(selfmutilation) cos he still small i cant really tell if he is licking or bitting but i think its licking la, and i scared later this will lead to sm. So and one here have sg that lick itself?

I decided to call my sugee haru cos it was down to either haru or joshua and he seem to reponse to haru so there u go.He is kinda active a night jumping here jumping there so i guess he is adapting to the surrounding.M i right? he is not as afraid of me now meaning if i offer him fruits through the gap between the cage he will come and take from me so i hope this is consider a improvement and he crab less unless he is sleeping and i clean the cage and accidently shake it.

The pouch thing u all mention i manage to get him in to the pouch and i tigthen the string but he was crabbing so i was so lost weather to hang him around the neck or to release him and guess wat i was to soft and i let it go.M i supposed to continue if he was crabbing.for ur information the drawstring pouch is like a smaller version of sling bag and i made some hole so air go pass through.

as for the pouch thing...I dont intend to very very bond with it....coz for my case I have four of them....n I do not at home evryday...so let them independent better....

Its 4am and my haru just wake up but he dun wan to come out-_-.my eye wanna close liao waiting for him to come out and give him eat.

I just leave the food in the cage, next morning sure finish.... you don't need to wait for your Haru to wake up and watch him eat if he is a late nighter....

Yagami, you don't really need to be so worried about your Haru eating. He will eat when he is hungry.

I am always worrying that my SGs are not eating enough. I give a half of a big cube of mix every night, and fresh fruits in the morning. They always finish their mix, but not if I put in the whole cube. And they only eat a few bits of the fruits during the day. I considered this undereating as there are 2 of them. But they don't seem skinny and are healthy with super soft fur

But during the weekend one night, I heard an all mighty "bang" and then really loud squeakings from the cage! I think the they were fighting! Why? They are always super loving. Why would they fight? I didn't hear anything last night though.....

Bang? They fell down ha?

Yeah gurl they always fall when they run on the wheel. They get over excited and always end up flying out of the wheel. But last Saturday they were fighting!

Wah! I meet this girl pet safari that had to keep her SGs apart because the female was attacking the male. I hope this is not a common thing.

Oh now this is something that is very common in pet shops! Mistreatment of SGs! I went to this shop called "88 Pets Mart Sdn Bhd" in Sunway Mas. They were according to the guy who assisted me, keeping wild Glider's taken from some SG farm in Genting.

The SGs are suffering!!! If they are wild SGs, why put it in a store? They can not cope, they are attacking each other viciously for territory. All the SGs in that shop has disfigured faces and bodies, with open wounds. And this store helper won't even touch them. He says they are all too fierce and they will attack him. And there were 20 brought in from the farm and already more than 4 was killed off by the other Gliders.

He then brought out a really pitiful SG at my request. Says that the pitiful SG was separated as it would have been killed otherwise. The lil thing looks so sad! Nothing like a SG should! The guy then took out his pen to poke the SG out of the cage. Ahhhh I am so angry. To put the SG back he grabbed its tail to throw it back in its small, shallow, extremely dirty cage!

Can report this to SPCA?
