If we tolong buy, then it will just make the shop get more gliders to sell... then the whole cycle will be the same. I would say best is complain big big about such petshops, allow authorities to take action against animal cruelty.

Argh!!!! It is so maddening to see such beautiful creatures being mistreated like that? Where is this place? I want to go see it. It better not be the same place that I mentioned months back. Things like this make my blood boil. Should write to the newspapers and hold a demonstration in front of the shop vmad.gif

Bravo! I saw the article too. I shall be making a trip to this place this weekend. Damn angry. Now I feel awful for not taking pictures of the SGs from the other pet shop. I shall most definitely be more proactive in any other cruelty I see.

*blink blink* just woke up....friend called to tell me...*runs to newstand*

EDIT: the article is censored too much already. I'll post up the original version later. And its so un-obvious which pet store is it. but the link to this thread is there.

Well...you can see that of all the medias that this letter is sent to only The Star responded(by putting it in the letters section? doh.gif, where is the pembongkaran edisi siasat style?) and the so called welfare foundations...none has responded. Where is SPCA? Where is MNAWF? Dogs are animals...cats are animals...but gliders?

I registered just so i could respond to the letter "Appalled by state of sugar gliders" in the star newspaper today. First I'd like to commend you in your concern and your effort to bring the plight of these lovely animals to the public. I'd also like you to know that you are not alone and there are lots of people who fight for the rights of these animals and all others everyday.
I noticed that the letter does not mention in which pet-store or shopping mall these acts of cruelty are taking place. This makes it hard for organizations like the SPCA to take action. This is understandable though, I guess you realized that the newspaper might not have published your letter if it had specifically named the culprits, fearing legal action. Anyway, please call the SPCA at 03-4256-5312 or 03-4253-5179 and ask for Ms. Sasi. She is the animal inspector and a true advocate for animal rights. She handles cruelty cases everyday. I'm sure she'll be more than willing to investigate.

Just a thought, also try sending an email to NTV7's Edisi Siasat too. Maybe a longshot since they are in the past few weeks been curiosly just interested in vice/sex stories.

Maybe now they can focus on other stories like animal cruelty for a change.

WELL DONE rclxms.gif rclxms.gif .... Another place also you can report is MidValley..I went there and they have like 6 SG there....I felt heartache when i see it....they put a big light on top of the cage. and the poor SG all had to hug each other and there was no bags or cloth for them to be in a dark area...i was very sad when i see it......i wish i have the money to buy all of them....

I hope people will realised how important is it to understand the nature of the pet before selling them or owning them. Just like me, I study and do my research in the internet before getting one and ask lots of question for the best of my SG....and i can say ...SG thread in lowyat.net had been very helpful.

If you want...i know people from NTV7....i can ask them if they are interested to cover ....let me know...email me the letter that you send to and i will forward to the producer.

thanks

This is my first post here. Saw the letter in The Star newspaper. BRavo to TAGreptiles.

Anyway, have you try sending it to The Mail? They are pretty aggressive too.

Good job smile.gif

I will definitely be making a visit to this Pet Store. TAG, why not send the letter to other newspapers as well? Maybe this can be curbed once and for all. My friend just told me yesterday there is a pet shop in Subang that houses about 20 SGs in 1 moderate sized cage! They have no cloth/shell or enclosure to sleep in. And they were all sleeping piled atop one another and their condition is terrible.

Many pet shops are like this.... this is obvious abuse to such gentle creatures!
