Hi, I'm seeking an advise here...I am an IT Administrator in O&G company...My job is to manage user creation, file sharing access, and few IT support...I'm looking to improve my career as IT in this field but how? What skill should I have? Recently I took ITIL, and I think it is useful for my job or any job...Beside ITIL, what cert should I have and any particular skill that is needed in O&G for IT?

Might want to start looking at possibility of learning how to manage the.O&G databases such as Landmark's OpenWorks, or SLB's GeoFrame and also some Unix/Linux administration as those databses are based on those systems. Knowledge of Oracle would also be extremely valuable.

they are like technip... EPCC basically. Initially a dutch company but was recently bought over by a german company. But top management mainly still dutch people. From what I heard they have been invited by technip to collaborate in the RAPID project

After 5 years working in Power Industry as Electrical Engineer, I managed to divert into Oil&Gas Industry. I will start as Service Engineer at one EPCC company next month.

Before this, dealing with power plant, power utility substation & private factory substation. Soon will be dealing with distribution network for offshore oil rig system & onshore system.

Not much different I think, only differ in scalability, safety & specification. But still a new environment for me.

PBJV? hmm.gif

Hopefully you are good and they take you in so that you can help them raise their stature as an effective brownfield contractor.

We are getting nervous with their current performance. sweat.gif

Thanks, will keep that in mind. So, at the moment, which is the best contractor? I am thinking of going to Sapura Kencana, but no invitation so far from them.

Hello guys, anybody knows any company actively pursuing graduates with BTEC Instrumentation Engineering in Oil & Gas Operations? it is more on the technician side. Will appreciate anyone who can give me a link to their online application/e-mails.
