The TRUE Jesus Church- Everyone else is FALSE?

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As we look at the the True Jesus Church we will see the similarities that are called a special brand of truth “New Revelation.” The True Jesus Church believes that God prophesied that he would send the latter rain “through the Holy Spirit and is revival of The Church of the apostolic Days.” As promised by God and recorded in the Holy Bible, the True Jesus Church is the restored Apostolic Church in the end time” (1). This they claim descended in 1917 in the land of the rising sun, in Peking China. Three of their early workers were Paul Wei, Lingsheng Chang and Barnabas Chang were formally associated with other denominations until they received “The revelation of the perfect truth of salvation” (General Assembly tract-facts about the True Jesus Church).

There are a few basic things evangelical Christians may agree on with this church. They teach the Bible is God’s word, original sin, Christ being God in the flesh. But it is often what they mean and practice that can change a recognized doctrine. But they also hold to teachings that make them unique and exclusive, that develop into severe problems. This Church cannot be considered orthodox because of their exclusive statements and extreme interpretations of doctrine.Their claim is that the Lord founded their church and personally revealed five doctrines of salvation to rebuild the church to the model of the church in the apostles time so they can preach the complete Gospel. These doctrines are: the baptism of the water and of the Holy Spirit for the washing of sins and the guarantee of eternal life, footwashing to have a portion in the Lord Jesus, Holy Communion and the Sabbath. They believe that the saving of one's soul is only possible by following God's complete plan of instruction in the Bible. This includes the need to repent and to be baptized “in the name of Jesus” only for the remission of sins (including a certain bodily position and in particular type of water) along with a number of these other requirements for salvation. Clearly, this is not grace through faith with all these other requirements, despite that they claim it is.

On the website: point number 5. they emphatically state “The True Jesus Church is the true church restored by God through the Holy Spirit of the latter rain. She is the revival of the apostolic church in the end times.” They believe that they alone teach the restored truth of salvation that started from Beijing. Just as the gospel was spread from Jerusalem outwards in the days of the apostles theirs is the latter rain. Their Scripture justification is Isaiah 2:2 (which happens to take place in the millennium, not now). They believe after a few decades the Gospel went to every province of China then expanded to other parts of Asia. They claim “ the True Gospel has also reached countries in America, Africa, Europe and Australia.” In 1949, with the Communists coming to power in China, the church lost its freedom and underwent great persecution. They compare the church in Taiwan, to the church in Antioch in former times. In 1985 the International Assembly was relocated from Taiwan to Los Angeles. Their purpose is to preach to the nations of the world, to unify the doctrines, help the local churches, and bring the gospel to countries that had not yet received it. They say the gospel was bought to the US in 1930. 1979 the gospel was brought to Africa. Missionaries from China brought the “true gospel” to Hawaii in 1930 and began the church here in 1932.

It becomes apparent from their writings that they are claiming that there was no true teaching or gospel to these areas until they came along. Let me quote them again to make this clear: “Until today, the True Gospel has also reached countries in America, Africa, Europe, and Australia” (True Jesus Church of Chicago). “The True Jesus Church is the true church restored by God.” By saying this they would have to reject some of the major influences by missionaries in China as well as men of influence from themselves, such as Watchman Nee.

CHRIST-HIS PERSON

The Only Begotten Son of God before His Resurrection

Regarding the Son of God there are two aspects: the aspect of the only begotten Son of God and the aspect of the firstborn Son of God. Before His resurrection Christ was the only begotten Son of God. John 1:18 says, “No one has ever seen God; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has declared Him.” This verse speaks of Christ as the only begotten Son of God. John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son. From eternity until the time of His resurrection Christ was the only begotten Son of God. However, this does not mean that after His resurrection Christ is no longer the only begotten Son of God. In a sense, He still is the only begotten Son. Nevertheless, as we shall see, from the time of His resurrection He became the Son of God in another sense, in the sense of being the firstborn Son of God.

The Firstborn Son of God from His Resurrection

Before His incarnation Christ was the only begotten Son of God, but through resurrection He was born to be the firstborn Son of God. As the only begotten Son of God Christ did not have humanity; He only had divinity. Therefore, before His resurrection He was the Son of God in His divinity. That was unique. But by His incarnation He entered into humanity and took on human nature as part of His being. However, His humanity was not “sonized,” that is, designated the Son of God (Rom. 1:4), until His resurrection. This is the reason Paul says in Acts 13:33, “God has fully fulfilled this promise to us their children in raising up Jesus, as it is also written in the second psalm, You are My Son; today I have begotten You.” This verse indicates that resurrection was a birth to the man Jesus. He was begotten by God in His resurrection to be the firstborn Son of God among many brothers (Rom. 8:29). He was the only begotten Son of God from eternity. After incarnation through resurrection He was begotten by God in His humanity to be God’s firstborn Son. Through resurrection His humanity was sonized to make Him the Firstborn among many sons.

If it were not for Paul, we would be able to see that Psalm 2 speaks of the resurrection of Christ. Paul saw the Lord’s resurrection in the word “You are My Son; today I have begotten You.” Paul applied the word “today” to the day of the Lord’s resurrection. This means that Christ’s resurrection was His birth as the firstborn Son of God. Jesus, the Son of Man, was born to be the Son of God through being raised up from the dead. Therefore, God’s raising up of Jesus from the dead was His begetting of Him to be the firstborn Son. It is crucial for us to realize that the Lord’s resurrection was His birth.

The Lord Jesus had two births. First, He was born of Mary to be the Son of Man. Then thirty-three and a half years later He was crucified, buried, and raised from among the dead. Through resurrection He had a second birth, for as a man He was born in His resurrection to be the Son of God. Therefore, in His first birth He was born of Mary to be the Son of Man, and in His second birth He was born of God in resurrection to be the Son of God.

Romans 8:29 and Hebrews 1:6 both speak of Christ as the Firstborn. First, He was God’s only begotten Son; second, He is now God’s firstborn Son. The words “only begotten” indicate that God has only one Son. John 1:18 and 3:16 speak of the only begotten Son of God. Eternally speaking, Christ was the only begotten Son of God. This was His eternal status. But through resurrection He, as a man, was born to be the firstborn Son of God. The word “firstborn” indicates that God now has many sons (Heb. 2:10). We who believe in Christ are the many sons of God and the many brothers of the Lord, the many brothers of the firstborn Son of God.

Before His incarnation, Christ as a divine person already was the Son of God. Romans 8:3 says that God sent His Son. By incarnation Christ put on an element, the flesh, the human nature, that had nothing to do with divinity. That part of Him which was Jesus with the flesh, the human nature, born of Mary, was not the Son of God. That part of Him was human. By His resurrection Christ sanctified and uplifted that part of His human nature, His humanity, and He was designated out of this resurrection as the Son of God with this human nature (Rom. 1:4). In this sense, the Bible says that He was begotten the Son of God in His resurrection (Acts 13:33; Heb. 1:5).

As the only begotten Son of God, the Lord is the embodiment of the divine life. The Gospel of John emphasizes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and as the Son of God He is the very embodiment of the divine life (John 1:4). Through resurrection Christ became the firstborn Son of God as the life-dispenser for the propagation of life. Through His becoming the firstborn Son of God in resurrection, the divine life has been dispensed into all of His believers to bring forth the propagation of the very life that is embodied in Him.

Not only was Christ born in resurrection, but all His believers were born with Him at that time. Hence, that birth in resurrection was a corporate birth. We were regenerated in Christ’s resurrection, when His humanity was born of God. This birth in resurrection included us. We all were born with Christ in His resurrection to be the many sons of God and His many brothers.

True Jesus Church

QUOTE
True Church Must be Followed by Signs, Wonders, andMiracles

1. The Lord promised, “And these signs shall follow them thatbelieve.” Signs, wonders, and miracles are to confirm theLord’s abidance with his true believers (Mk 16:16–20).

2. God bears witness to the true gospel with signs, wonders, different miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit (Acts 14:3; Heb2:1–4).

Signs and wonders are signs of apostleship, i.e., signs of those who are truly sent by God (Mt 11:2–6; 2 Cor 12:12).

QUOTE
At present, many Christians, as well as many churches, are likethe lost sheep of the house of Israel. Many Christian churchesare zealous for God; they have devoted themselves to the work of God’s salvation. However, they do not follow the truth of thegospel found in the Bible. Therefore, it is our duty to spread thelife-saving message to them and pray the Holy Spirit would moveand lead them to return to the same fold of the Lord (Jer 23:3, 4;Jn 10:16
).

Sabbath observation is an interesting one

IV.Should Christians Keep The Sabbath?

A. Many Sunday observers assert Christians need not keep thesabbath since they are not Jewish. Thus, many Sunday observers

are really non-sabbath observers, since even Sunday is notsacred. In light of this argument, let us examine the following:

1. God gave the sabbath to Israel, because they were the chosenpeople by whom his oracles and will were proclaimed to theworld (cf. Rom 3:1, 2).

2. The Lord Jesus said that “the sabbath was made for man”(Mk 2:27). So God established the sabbath after he hadcreated man on the sixth day. When the Lord said “man” didhe only refer to the Jewish man? Most likely not, since therewere no Jews in the beginning; in fact, there were no racialdifferences in the beginning. Thus, we are all “man,” i.e.,human beings, and the sabbath was made for us according toJesus.

3. The Bible tells us that strangers who joined themselves to theLord had the privilege of enjoying the grace of the sabbath(Isa 56:2–7). Many of these strangers were Gentiles

.4. The sabbath reminds humanity of God’s creation. Is God theGod of the Jews only? Can Gentiles be exempted fromremembering the Creator and from worshipping him? (Eccl12:1, 13; 1 Cor 8:6; Phil 2:9–11).

B. Many non-sabbath observers argue Christians are saved by grace,so they do not need to keep the Ten Commandments. However, according to the Bible:

1. Salvation does not come from the works of law, but throughthe Lord’s precious blood and faith in the Lord (Rom 3: 25,28).

2. However, under the grace of the Lord, Christians can neverabolish the Ten Commandments, nor should they transgressthe commandments at will. Paul told us to uphold the lawthrough our faith (Rom 3:31, 6:15; cf. Mt 19:17; 1 Cor 7:19;Rev 12:17, 14:12). The ordinances of the law have been takenaway by the cross, and so we need not follow the rules andrituals in a legalistic manner (Eph 2:15; Col 2:14, 16; Heb9:10). Nevertheless, the fulfillment of the law does not meanthat the Ten Commandments are obliterated, perverted, ortwisted. Rather, Christians must keep the “spirit” of the moral law, i.e., the commandments, through the help of the HolySpirit. Keeping the “spirit” of the law is a much higher stan-dard than the legalistic keeping of the law, for it is written inour hearts rather than in letter only (cf. Mt 5:17, 18, 21–23;Heb 8:10; Jas 2:10–12).

3.Observing the sabbath under grace differs greatly from thelegalistic observance according to the Old Testament andadditional Jewish traditions (Ex 35:1–3; Num 15:32-36).Observing the sabbath under grace is neither a burden nor abondage (Mt 12:1, 2; Mk 3:1, 2). Actually, sabbath undergrace can be seen as a return to the rest of Edenic days—loving, joyful, peaceful, and healing—since Christians enjoyspiritual and physical blessings from the Lord (cf. Gen 2:3; Ex16:23–25; Lk 12:9–13; Jn 5:1–18).

C. Non-sabbath day observers argue that the sabbath is “a shadow of the things to come,” and Christ came to eliminate the sabbath. Thus, Christians are not required to observe sabbath any more. However, according to the Bible:

1. In Colossians 2:16–17, the food, drink, festival, new moon andsabbath are a shadow of the things to come, but thesubstance is of Christ. These “shadows” are “eliminated” orovertaken by the cross. The Passover has, for instance, moved from the shadow to true substance, which came withChrist (1 Cor 5:7, 8). The ceremonial laws in the OldTestament concerning food and drink are no longer observedin the New Testament, but the substance of the food anddrink cannot be done away with—the substance coming withChrist. Likewise, the stifling legalistic or rabbinical rules, oralor written, concerning sabbath observance are abolished bythe Lord Jesus; however, the true substance of the sabbathitself, instituted by God from the beginning, cannot be elimi-nated.

2. So from Colossians 2:14–17, Christians should clearly under-stand that we must not return to legalistic regulations, lest weincite judgment from others (2:16). However, Christiansshould take care not to judge another Christian because he orshe keeps the sabbath under grace. As stated, sabbath obser-vance under grace is very different from observance under law. So the “food, drink, festival, new moon, and sabbath”under the law are merely a shadow of things to come, for thesubstance is indeed of Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ gave usvictory by his death on the cross, on which all the ordinancesand rituals were nailed with the Lord. Though we do notobserve the Old Testament sabbath ordinances and practices,we must still observe the sabbath under grace lest others judge us hypocrites, i.e., do not take the sabbath lightly justbecause we are no longer bound by stringent regulations. Donot use liberty as a cover for vice. The “things to come” inColossians 2:17 may refer to the completion of the LordJesus’ work of salvation at his second coming, when we shallenter the true and eternal substance of sabbath rest found inChrist (Heb 4:10).

D. Non-sabbath Sunday observers use Galatians 4:10 and Romans14:5–6 as evidence that there is no difference in keeping thesabbath on Saturday or Sunday, since the observance of eitherday is unto the Lord. However, according to the Bible:

1. “One day,” “another day,” and “everyday” do not refer to “thesabbath” or “Sunday” at all in Romans 14:5–6. Close analysisof the passages in context reveal that these two verses mainlydeal with special fasting and feast days, including all thefleshly ordinances of food, drink, washings, etc. (Heb 9:10).In the Old Testament, there were many feasts and days of fasting, such as fasting on the day of atonement (Lev16:29–31, 23:27–32), fasting on the day of Purim (Est 9:31),and fasting in the fourth, fifth, seventh, and tenth month(Zech 8:19; cf. 2 Kgs 25:25; Jer 39:1, 2, 52:12, 13).

2. Looking at the two passages in context, we understand somebelievers of the early church followed legalistic practices of the Old Testament, observing days (feast and fasting days),new moons, sabbatical years, and dietary laws. Many of thesebelievers simply focused on the legalistic practices forgettingthe true substance of the gospel. For this reason, Paulexclaimed, “I am afraid I have labored over you in vain” (Gal4:11). The fact is that Galatians 4:10 and Romans 14:5–6 werenot written to refute the sabbath. We know this for at leasttwo good reasons. First, Paul himself observed the sabbathunder grace according to his custom (Acts 17:2). Second, we must remember that the sabbath controversy betweenkeeping the sabbath versus Sunday had not yet arisen duringPaul’s time, when he wrote the two epistles. The sabbathcontroversy only arose after Sunday observance becamepopular and was proclaimed by Constantine in A.D. 321,which was many years after Paul.

V.Jesus Christ And The Sabbath

Non-sabbath Sunday observers often maintain Lord Jesus abol-ished the sabbath. Therefore, we should look into the statementsand actions of Jesus on the sabbath, since he is lord of thesabbath (Mt 12:8).

A. Judah Failed to Honor the Sabbath

udah’s captivity to Babylon was due to their failure to honor thesabbath unto the Lord (2 Chr 36:17–21; Jer 17:27). After returningfrom Babylon, many Jews deeply understood that the rise and fallof their nation depended on the observance of God’s laws (Neh13:15–22). In fact, many Jews made oaths that they would keepthe sabbath from then on without fail (Neh 10:29–31).In light of this stress upon sabbath observance, rabbinical tradi-tion added many rules to the sabbath. The Mishnah codified 39different kinds of work forbidden on the sabbath. These addi-tional traditions are complicated and burdensome regulations thatbind sabbath observers to the sabbath, i.e., making man for thesabbath. In contrast, the Lord Jesus said “the sabbath was madefor man, and not man for the sabbath.” According to Jewish tradi-tion, anyone who transgressed the rules would be expelled fromthe synagogue by the rabbis.

B. Jesus Christ Observed the Sabbath

While Jesus was in the world, “he came to Nazareth, where hehad been brought up; and he went to the synagogue, as hiscustom was, on the sabbath day. And he stood up to read” (Lk 4:16).In another instance, Jesus went down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught the people on the sabbath (Lk 4:31).

As the Son of man, Jesus himself “ceased,” in a symbolic sense, his work on the seventh day (Jn 19:31), rested in the tomb, andresurrected on the first day of the week to continue his work of salvation (Lk 23:54–56, 24:1, 2).

C. Jesus Christ Instructed the Disciples to Keep the Sabbath

The controversy between the Lord Jesus and the Phariseesmostly concerned the legal aspect of the sabbath (Mt 12:9–14; Mk 3:1–6). The reason was not because the Lord Jesus did notobserve the sabbath, but because the method, attitude, andperspective of sabbath observance between the Lord Jesus andthe Pharisees greatly differed (cf. Jn 9:14–16).During Jesus’ time, the Jews kept the sabbath under the Mosaiclaw, in addition to the many traditional restrictions. According tothe law, prohibitions and rules were strictly enforced, includingthe following:1. No labor is allowed on the sabbath (Ex 20:10).2. No fire is to be kindled on this day (Ex 35:3).3. All should rest on this day even during plowing and harvesttime (Ex 34:21).4. Any one who profanes the sabbath shall be put to death (Ex31:12–17, 35:2; Num 15:32–36).The Lord Jesus—the Lord of the sabbath—brings us abundantgrace (Jn 1:14, 17). Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law(Gal 4:5). Therefore, the Lord’s sabbath observance does notfollow the fleshly ordinances of the law. Under God’s grace andfavor, Jesus observed the sabbath as a free, joyful, and graciousblessing rather than a burden (cf. Gen 2:3; Ex 16:23–25; Isa 58:13).Although both kept the sabbath, the Pharisees kept it under thelaw, while the Lord Jesus kept it under grace. For this reason, theLord Jesus rebuked the Pharisees for looking upon him as a law-breaker. The Lord Jesus came to proclaim the true substance of the sabbath. Thus, Jesus set an example of sabbath observancefor his disciples, keeping the sabbath in a gracious mannerdespite constant threats and persecution from others.

VII.Who Changed The Sabbath Day From Saturday To Sunday?

If the Lord and the disciples did not abolish the sabbath, who did?How did Sunday, often called “the Lord’s day,” come to replacethe seventh-day sabbath?

A.According to the Catholic Church, “The Church of God [i.e., theCatholic Church] has in her wisdom ordained that the celebration of the sabbath should be transferred to the Lord’s day”(Catechism of the Council of Trent, Donovan translation, 1829, p.267).

B.“It was the Catholic Church which, by the authority of JesusChrist, has transferred this rest to the Sunday in remembrance of the resurrection of our Lord. Thus the observance of Sunday bythe Protestants is a homage they pay, in spite of themselves, tothe authority of the [Catholic] church” (Mgr. Segur, Plain Talk About the Protestanism of Today, p. 213).

C.The Sunday legislation has, dated from the first Sunday edictissued by the Emperor Constantine in March, 321 B.C., beenmortified and carried on in Christendom.

D.The term “the Lord’s day” did not appear in any civil legislationconcerning Sunday until the year A.D. 387, more than two genera-tions after the first law (“Sunday,” Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious Knowledge, Vol. 11, p. 147).

E.Sunday observance has been existing in Christianity side by sidewith Sunday activities regulated by the civil legislation of thesecular world.

F.“Is there no express commandment for observing the first day of the week as the sabbath, instead of the seventh day? None what-ever. Neither Christ nor his apostles, nor the first Christianscelebrated the first day of the week instead of the seventh as thesabbath” (New York Weekly Tribune, May 24, 1900).

G.Dr. Edward T. Hiscox (Baptist) commented, “There was and is acommandment to ‘keep holy the sabbath’, but that sabbath wasnot Sunday. It will, however, be readily said, and with some showof triumph, that the sabbath was transferred from the seventh tothe first day of the week.... Where can the record of such a trans-action be found? Not in November 16, 1893).

H.“It [the Roman Catholic Church] has reversed the fourthcommandment, doing away with the sabbath of God’s word, andinstituting Sunday, as a holy day” (N. Summerbell, History of theChristians, p. 418).

I.“Sunday is a Catholic institution, and its claims to observance canbe defended only on Catholic principles ... From the beginning tothe end of the Scriptures there is not a single passage thatwarrants the transference of weekly public worship from the lastday of the week to the first” (Catholic Press, Sydney, Australia,August 25, 1900).

J.“The Catholic Church ... by virtue of her divine mission, changedthe day from Saturday to Sunday” (Catholic Mirror, Baltimore,September 23, 1893).

K.“Question: Which is the sabbath day?Answer: Saturday is the sabbath day.Question: Why do we observe Sunday instead of Saturday?Answer: We observe Sunday instead of Saturday because theCatholic Church in the Council of Laodicea ... transferred thesolemnity from Saturday to Sunday” (Rev. Peter Geiermann,C.S.S.R., The Convert’s Catechism of Catholic Doctrine, 3rdedition, 1913, p. 50, a work which received the “apostolicblessing” of Pope Pius X, January 25, 1910).

L.“The seventh-day sabbath was ... solemnized by Christ, the apostles, and primitive Christians, till the Laodicean Council did, in amanner, quite abolish the observation of it ... The Council of Laodicea (A.D. 364) ... first settled the observation of the Lord’sday” (Prynne’s Dissertation on the Lord’s day, pp. 33, 34, 44).

M. “Question: Have you any other way of proving that theChurch [Catholic] has the power to institute festivals of precept?Answer: Has she not such power she could not have done that inwhich all modern religionists agree with her: she could not havesubstituted the observance of Sunday, the first day of the week, for the observance of Saturday, the seventh day of the week—achange for which there is no scriptural authority” (Rev. StevenKeenan, A Doctrinal Catechism, p. 174, New York: EdwardDunigan & Brothers, 1851).Church history gives ample evidence of the origin of Sundayobservance, “a venerated day of the sun,” which has pagan rather than biblical origins. The Catholic Church abolished the sabbath,an act that she has triumphantly declared to the world. Therefore,Christians should not assume Jesus and his disciples substitutedthe first day of the week (Sunday) for the seventh day (Saturday) just because it is a long-standing tradition. Rather, Christiansmust return to the truth and observe the true sabbath under theLord’s grace (cf. Mt 15:9; Rev 22:18, 19).

VIII.How Do We Keep The Sabbath?

So far, we have examined: how the sabbath was established byGod at creation; how it was made known to Israel before thegiving of the law; how it was included in the Ten Commandments;how it was related to the severe legalistic rules of the OldTestament; and how it was given new significance by the LordJesus, whose observation practices were handed down to theapostles. Let us now look into the Scriptures for how we shouldobserve the sabbath:

A. Put Aside All Secular Activities“If you turn back your foot from the sabbath, from doing yourpleasure on my holy day, and call the sabbath a delight and theholy day of the LORD honorable; if you honor it, not going yourown ways, or seeking your own pleasure, or talking idly...” (Isa58:13).

B. Attend Church Services/Gatherings“Six days shall work be done; but on the seventh day is a sabbathof solemn rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no work on it; it isa sabbath to the LORD in all your dwellings” (Lev 23:3).“And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up; andhe went to the synagogue, as his custom was, on the sabbath day.And he stood up to read...” (Lk 4:16).“The next sabbath almost the whole city gathered together tohear the word of God” (Acts 13:44).

C. Perform Evangelical and Charitable Works
“And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbathhe entered the synagogue and taught” (Mk 1:21).“And on the sabbath day we went outside the gate to the river-side, where we supposed there was a place of prayer; and we satdown and spoke to the women who had come together” (Acts16:13).“So it is lawful to do good on the sabbath” (Mt 12:11, 12; Mk 3:4,5).As for the time calculation of the sabbath day, it is to be kept“from evening to evening” (Lev 23:32, cf. Mk 1:21, 32). That is,from Friday evening to Saturday evening. At first glance, it may seem difficult to reconcile the different timezones around the globe. However, all we need to do is honor andkeep the sabbath according to the time and dates of the localarea. Therefore, regardless of the country where a true believerdwells, he or she can keep the sabbath according to God’scommandment, and enjoy the abundant spiritual blessings

In short, Sabbath observation (old covenant) was over-ridden by the new covenant. but if Christian want to do so, it is okay but not to impose the same to other Christian, right?

Like Paul's example in Romans 14, we practice the spirit of generality in the church-life as long as the items of faith is there. Also as long as something [other than the speciality of the faith] is not divisive, sinful or worldly, we can be quite general. Usually, believers are weak in their faith [or full knowledge of the truth]. Or we are "divided" over winds of doctrines. tongue.gif:P

So when a brother who is a Seventh Day Adventist comes and insists on keeping the Seventh Day, we should say to him, “Brother, if you like to keep the Sabbath, you do it. If we have the time, we will come to be with you. We have no problem with you, and we have no argument.” This is the attitude, the spirit, taken by Paul in Romans 14. But, this does not mean that Paul was not clear about the doctrine of the Sabbath. He was very clear, but he did not insist. We are clearly told by him in Colossians 2 that the Sabbath was a shadow of the Christ who was to come. The Sabbath was a shadow, and now that the Body has come the shadow is over. However, in Romans 14 Paul still tolerated it.

New Covenant is all about living by the Spirit. I think PehKay did a very good depository on life by the spirit in his previous sharing.

It's no longer about "doing" but "living" the new Life. The Old Covenant has been invalidated by God himself.

Oh PehKay is he. Sorry I always though is she. Guess I am not good to identify some names biggrin.gif

Anyway, it seems like OT law is harder than NT 'law' but actually NT is higher standard. For example, lust. So hard to battle it oh.

It is higher and harder as it deals with our inward being, motive and intention rather than the outward action.

Yet this understanding is still lacking or natural.

The secret lies in the divine life, indicated by the repetition of the words, "your Father", which occur many times in your example, I think in Matthew 5-7. The highest demand of the kingdom of the heavens can only be met by the highest supply of the heavenly Father’s life. This life not only saves us but enables us to reign in life—a reigning that issues from our experience of God’s life. Paul explains that reigning in life is a result of our receiving God’s measureless grace, not our striving (Rom. 5:17). Yet, we have to cooperate with Him for His inward working.

E.g. the real understanding of the reality of Sabbath: that you can take only God and all that He has done for you as your satisfaction, enjoyment, and rest. Keeping the Sabbath indicates that you have nothing on earth other than God; you take only God Himself and all that He has accomplished for you as your enjoyment, satisfaction, and rest. Your God is your everything, and He has accomplished everything for you. All you need to do is enjoy Him and take Him as your satisfaction and rest.

Who can do it? No one can biggrin.gif but Christ.

Isn't Pehkay a guy's name? biggrin.gif

Living by the Spirit is not about fulfilling the Law.
The Law of God has been set in such a way, the harder you try, the harder you will fail.

Why try to fulfill something that only Christ can fulfilled?

This is where many Christians are confused where they try to live a life of change thinking that is where it starts when it's not.

Yeah true. As much as we pursue God's standard of righteous, we could not reach His standard, perfectly, all the time. Just like the rich young ruler story, after Jesus replied him, the disciples asked "Who then can be saved?" and Jesus replied, "With man this is impossible, but not with God; all things are possible with God."
