Sorry, after the incident with devour, I will never buy things from him anymore. Yeah will try to contact numbertwo or just purchase it directly from dell website smile.gif Might just get that model & replace the hdd with an ssd. Should be perfect I guess.

The dell website says it comes with 4cell battery & 6cell is optional but I can't find anyway to add 6cell battery during the customization  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif

oh, what happened between you and him? as my POV towards devour is positive. hmm.gif

by the way, try talk with Dell's sales representative via online chat, see if they do it as Dell Malaysia's site is missing out a lot.

Prefer not to talk about it, dont want to spoil his "reputation". Don't really think that is a wise thing to do as a seller myself. Just some issue with after-sales service, nothing big deal.

That's a good idea, I shall try to talk to them tomorrow. Last time I remember someone mention can get promo code by chatting with them but the notebook price is quite cheap already, not sure if can get any discount on that or not laugh.gif Maybe they have some kind of student promo since I am buying for my sis anyways hmm.gif

Depending on capacity. Just an estimate: ~RM400 for 128GB; ~RM700 for 256GB
You can check the pricelist at Lowyat.net main page, it will give you specific prices/brands icon_rolleyes.gif

Both have the same processor.
Toshiba is better in terms of GPU performance, warranty and storage space
Lenovo is weaker in terms of GPU performance, but has a hybrid HDD which will help speed things up, and is lighter, slimmer and "foldable" hmm.gif

Which one to choose depends on your usage, which you didn't state nod.gif

I'm looking for a laptop for work purposes, using mostly Microsoft office and occasional usage for cad and photoshop. Will be bringing it along for daily usage.

Want a reliable laptop with good after sales service, 3 years warranty is necessary.

Budget will be around 4k.

Is it necessary for me to look for business laptops or normal home units will do?

Thanks.

normal home units will do. to add, they offer better specs as well, especially for your photoshop and cad use.

Dell
Inspiron 15 7000, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M (GDDR5) + (1920x1080; Touch)@RM3599[2.6kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8SL, backlit keyboard, 58Whr

Lenovo
Y510p, i7-4700MQ + Nvidia GT755M(GDDR5) + (1920x1080)@RM3399[2.7kg], 8GB, 1TB, W8.1, red backlit, swappable ODD, 120w psu, 2 yrs

Z510, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GT740M@RM2799[2.2kg], 4GB, 1TB, backlit, W8; 2 yrs

Acer
V7-582PG-74508G52k, i7-4500U + Nvidia GT750M + 24GB mSATA + 500GB HDD + (1920x1080 IPS; touch)@RM3399[2.2kg], 8GB, W8

HP
Envy Touchsmart 15-J053TX, i7-4702MQ + Nvidia GT750M + (1920x1080;touch)@RM3499[2.56kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm), W8

prices in RRP and negotiable. my best vote goes for Z510 if your cad and photoshop isnt intensive, Y510P if you are intense.

Thanks for the recommendation.

Agree that the specifications for home use laptops is always better than the business laptops of the same price range. But will there be any significant differences in terms of reliability and built?

Have used a couple of home used laptops before this, but they does not last too long. Was told by my friend to go for business laptops instead, such as thinkpad. But the price variance is quite huge for similar specs. Are they worth the extra money?

Thanks

true that business laptops are built to last longer than home laptops do but technology evolution wont stop. the demand of performance will increase as well when you want a productive work to produce faster. an average laptop life span is 2-3 years, but if you are lucky enough, maybe 5 years also wont become a problem.

about business laptops, they are worth to buy for last longer usage but negative side is the low resale value and price over performance factor.
