This release is pretty much like an existing peripheral revision. Impossible for an exchange program in Malaysia, it's even impossible for an exchange program worldwide.

good thing I hold me horses during the merdeka sales and upgraded to Pro instead.
we can expect to see a price drop in PSVR1 when 2 is launched. but for PSVR2, it's still a cable mess ![]() This post has been edited by greyshadow: Oct 3 2017, 08:35 AM |

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Oct 2 2017, 05:37 PM) New revision of the PSVR headset will be launching soon. May I know which cable connector is different? Is it the port on the PSVR unit itself or the one on the processor unit? Because if only on the processor unit, it should be fine with simply swapping the older model with the new one right? The changes are: - The processor unit now has capability to pass through HDR, basically this means the HDMI port has been updated to HDMI 2.0. - The headphone cable has been streamlined together with the rest of the PSVR cables, making it less messsy. The headset itself remains the same (perhaps with some internal changes to cut down on production cost, as is usual of these kind of products). Pricing is unchanged and unfortunately, no you change your current processor unit to the new one as the cable connectors are different (yes, you're screwed if you want to pass through HDR). https://blog.us.playstation.com/2017/10/02/...e-ultimate-faq/ |

QUOTE(greyshadow @ Oct 3 2017, 11:30 AM) my guess is the cable connector from the headset to the processor unit I see, that's sad. Maybe after some times, and the replacement parts are more readily available, some shops will offer to swap the older model's HDMI connector with the newer one. hence you can't just swap out the processor without changing the headset $ony as usual... changing connectors with version update So if you wanna HDR passthru without HDMI switch or plug/unplug, then you'll have no choice to fork out extra for this V2 But it's weird, since it's a pass-through connection. It should be between PS4, Processor Unit and TV only. hurm |

Because the cables of CUH-ZVR1 and CUH-ZVR2 are different, you cannot swap the Processor Units. |

They technically could sell a special pack which comes with the new PU, and an adapter/converter for the V1 cable so it would fit... Though I doubt they'd be so nice to us who adopted early...

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Oct 3 2017, 06:33 PM) doesn't makes sense to me if they don't lower SRP of the v1Given the same price, any potential buyer of course will buy the better v2, either they need HDR passthru or not and without lowering the SRP of the v1 to promote sales, how are they gonna clear the existing stock? and whoever holding a large stock of the v1 now, die la... |

Ah.. i cant wait to try it immediately, couldnt wait for 1 or 2 months i would suggest you to wait, should be here in a month or two after the official Jp launch And i wont play with 4K TV most of the time, therefore HDR should be not an issue. And newly launch wont get such price for bundle with Move. Thanks for the reply, i have answer already |

guys, don't forget they also will be releasing the v2 Move controllers around the same time, this time using micro USB to charge instead of the old PS3 era mini USB, and with larger batt capacity as well
was hoping they might use a type-C tho... but no |

I foresee a few additional problems with the PSVR v2.
Since the headphone cable has been streamlined together with the rest of the PSVR cables to cater for the integrated headset earphones, does that mean : a) you can't plug in your own higher quality headphones anymore, right ? Or the headphone jack is still available either on the processing unit or on the headset itself ? b) if the answer to question a) above is no, then you are permanently stuck to using the headset integrated earphones for 3D positional audio, right ? OK, I've taken a look at the headset renders, it seems to have a headphone jack on the headset behind the left ear. The default earphones looks detachable with the yellow jack. https://www.dualshockers.com/wp-content/upl...StationVR-2.jpg https://www.dualshockers.com/wp-content/upl...StationVR-5.jpg This post has been edited by Hattori: Oct 7 2017, 12:10 PM |
