my take is to avoid it.

I rather you take manual instead of AMT which is a time bomb.

I drove savvy manual for 9 years, never fails before

Where u stay? if nearby to my place, I can help you to locate it and replace it for you.

I'll try to snap picture for you if got time. The location is at the back of the gearbox, nearby extractor. You need to open the airbox to see it

All cars are time bomb if not service and drive properly.
If you just follow the recommendation on the service book and do inspect your car (by yourself) monthly, then shouldn't have any issue. Just need to monitor the AMT fluid level and change it following the recommendation, then you'll be safe.

stay in usj. ya i opened up the airbox already. there are a few wires there near the extractors. just dunno which one.
the sensor can be pulled out for cleaning?

i dont believe its spoilt. driving halfway the error will come and go.
i think its just bad connection.

i sell industrial magnetic hall sensor and these are passive components. never will fail unless mechanically damaged.

I guess so, during the 9 years of ownership, I am proud to say this car had served me well.

I seen numerous friends who own AMT throwing the towel.

You are correct, this kind of sensor will never or very hard to spoil but unfortunately it will spoil on D4F engine (cannot compare with industrial magnetic sensor). Maybe they designed it like that or the magnetic field become poor already(meter reading on/off) because the magnet tip is very small (like lidi sate only). Could be spoiled because of oil leak as well. If the sensor not spoil, then either connector or your meter kaput.

Speed sensor cannot be service. Once spoiled just throw it. Hahaha.

BTW there is only one sensor stick in at the back of the gearbox. Can be pull out but not so easy if first time to do it (need to twist² a lil bit)
***still go no chance to take photo for you. Hahaha***

Yeah, for cars that have a lot of sensor, we need to do preventive maintenance (replace before it spoiled - not wait until it spoiled)
Once spoiled, you cry la rclxms.gif

talking about the sensors,
what are the important sensors on this car?

to be frank, I have never really replace them before.

I only change ignition coil set 3 times,
speed sensor once.

i guess none of the sensor is critical until cannot move. it will run open loop.

but one particular is the tdc sensor - if die cannot crank start the car
