After a long time of absence from the forum ... am back with the SmartBand SWR10

[attachmentid=3948717]

Early feedback (been using it for about a week now):

- initial firmware sucks .... the device kept disconnecting from the phone
- new firmware launched on 25 April fixed most problems and also added an auto night mode

So what happens is that you need to download a software called "LifeLog" which allow you to track all sort of stuff:

[attachmentid=3948720]

Things like steps, where you been before, the weather, how much time you spent on entertainment, music, photos, etc.

As a step counter, it works as advertised. But it does more than just that... you are basically recording your entire life in this software which probably brings up the next point... how safe is your data? I'm not too sure since the software sync all these info back to Sony Network (you can actually restore all your data after a hard reset).

I wonder if this will work together with pebble smart watch..

It doesn't even work together with the Sony SmartWatch yet ... something which I have suggested to Sony is that we should be able to use the SmartWatch as the display based on information captured by SmartBand (such as step counter, life bookmark, etc.) since the SmartBand itself doesn't have any display (unlike the Fitbit Flex/Force)

Hopefully we see an app for the SmartWatch soon ....

yes i'm rooted, upgraded to .757, locked bootloader, try to install on odex & deodex rom, all cannot.
and guess what? after several attempt on installing & running the portrait retouch & 4k video, both of my camera become malfunctioned! it always show error "No camera detect" whenever I start the camera, even in superior auto or manual mode. Try flashing back to prev stock rom (.257, .136, .290) + multiple factory resets, now my main camera is back to normal, but front camera still not functioning. so DO NOT TRY the portrait retouch & super video camera, the only working camera apps is background defocus, the rest dont install them!
*
After flashing back to stock rom also cannot work? Wow... This is serious. And I tot all these while if there's anything wrong with the mod software I just flash back to stock rom and everything will be back to normal...

How accurate is it? How intuitive is the sleep tracker?
Planning to get one soon. Was looking into Jawbone or Fitbit earlier

Hi guys. Just wanna share my experience.
Been a Galaxy S user starting from S2, S3 and S4.
My last Sony phone is the legendary X10.
I changed to Sony Z1 due to my S4 tends to be hot.
But now I realized that my Z1 gets hot the same when used. I can feel it while holding it. And not after prolonged usage like my S4.
Using the latest .757 firmware.
Any advice on this?

Oh one more thing. Experienced my first restart just now.
I do hope it's normal for all this.
Kinda starting to regret changing over to Z1.
Hope the next update will rectify everything.

That is what we're all hoping for. Don't worry, you're not the only one experiencing that.

Not sure what your expectation is. All phone gets hot when used. To me it is normal. Don't forget z1 processor is clocked higher speed than s4. And I think glass and aluminum is of better heat conductor than plastic.

Try checking what apps is always running at background. Also if you are using Chrome, try switching to other browser. Chrome, while fast and snappy, is a heat generator and battery drainer.

No, what meant is, will I be able to connect to both Pebble and swr10? And sometimes I'll connect my phone to mdr-1rbt as well.. So make it 3 bluetooth devices concurrently connect Z1, I have no problem with pebble + mdr -1rbt atm.. Not too sure about adding swr 10 into the mix

Ahhh .... understand what you mean. No problems with it. I'm using the SmartWatch SW2, MDR-10RBT and the SmartBand at the same time as well ... no issues

However, there seems to be some ad hoc disconnection that I am facing with the SmartBand at the moment (it was worst in the previous firmware) ... working with Sony Support to iron out these teething problems

Also, some bugs found are that the notification (apart from smart alarm and the phone calls) ... they aren't working at the moment

It's as accurate as any Fitbit Flex/Force and Jawbone. I used to own the Fitbit Flex .... the rubber strap on the SmartBand is actually more comfortable compared to the Fitbit .... furthermore the Force/Flex band causes skin irritation for certain users (not sure about the Sony .... but so far I'm ok).

Do remember that the SmartBand doesn't have any display (the Force and Flex does show you info on the band itself) ... and the Jawbone UP24 has longer battery life (SmartBand rated for 5 days). 30 minutes of charge will bring the band up to full 100%. The lovely thing about Sony products (apart from being waterproof with IP58 rating) is that you only need to carry your micro USB cable around. You can power up your headphones, phone, Smartband, smartwatch ... all the same cable

Thanks! That's the deal tipper I'm waiting for. I don't mind the fact there's no display. I'm actually looking for something to wear and forget about while getting proper tracking.

Also, the SmartBand is capable of storing 2 weeks of data if you don't sync with your phone. The LifeLog software from Sony also collects damn a lot of info (too much infact). Unlike the UP and Fitbit product, the SmartBand uses both your phone and SmartBand for central repository of what you do daily (hence the app name LifeLog).

You will be able to see where you go to daily (via Location Service), what you do on daily basis (play games, listen to music, take photos, communicate, browse internet, etc.), steps you take, calories burn, how much time spent sleeping, how much time walking, running, driving and cycling (driving and cycling coming soon).

You can also add life bookmarks .... something interesting happened to you ... double press the button on the SmartBand and record that moment in LifeLog.

I actually have the Lifelog installed. But without the band I won't be able to tell how deep the analysis is with the gathered quantified-self data.

been using the smartband for bout 2 weeks, initially alway gets disconnected even at close range

after the update, it seems better but still get disconnect sometimes

i am only wondering how it can track calories burn and running and walking time

in a day sure walk for than 30mins, however my daily walking time is only like 10mins?

pedometer is also not always up to date might require a few refresh before showing up
