there are office work too.. shift work are for operations ; croupiers, cashiers etc

(A battery brand that starts with G) @sia. An IT outsourcing company that is based in Subang Jaya. My experience with this company? I was involved in providing onsite services for Dell Malaysia through another vendor that deals with ATM machines(the one that got hacked recently). At first, I enjoyed my work until they ask me to travel places which is located outside KL like Bestari Jaya, Sepang and Sekinchan .I can only claim RM 0.50/km btw. The bosses are not flexible when it comes to choose where to go even though I have to use my mother's old car to travel. If they ask you to go to outstation locations, you have no choice and you can't say no. I have been forced to travel to Sarawak because my other colleague who was supposed to go has a baby to take care. So, I went anyway just to gain some experience. Air ticket is provided but for accommodation I have to fork out my own money and claim later. I stayed in Sarawak for three days, hoping after that I can come back to KL, but I was wrong! They asked me to go to Sabah as well. I told them that I ran out of clothes to wear since I only brought three days worth of clothing. But the management said that I can ask the laundry services at the hotel to wash my clothes. Reluctantly, I went to Kota Kinabalu and once I landed at the airport, I took the first cab to reach the customer's site at a shopping center. After completing my first task, I went to my second location which is situated nearby. I searched in circles for the location based on the information given on my BlackBerry but I couldn't find it. Tried calling the customer but no one is picking up. Actually, Dell did not provide the name of the company, so it was very hard to find. Then, I called my call center in Singapore to inform about the problem and we had a conference call with Dell over the phone. It was already 7pm and I haven't had my dinner. To my surprise, Dell told me that it was actually Public Bank and I was fuming because the bank is already closed at 5.30pm If Dell had informed me earlier that it was Public Bank, I wouldn't have to run like a mad man searching for the location for 2 hours!

I had enough of that crap. At the same day, I lost my phone in a taxi and I have to fork out RM 112 just to stay at Tune Hotel for one night. The next day, I told my boss that I need to come back because my mother wasn't feeling well. So, I came back and I was happy.The next day, I travelled to Sungai Buloh to replace a client's laptop screen and I got a call to go to Kuantan. WTF? I told them that I can't go by giving them some excuses. They said I can travel by bus but I said I want to travel by plane. They said it is not possible and I said I will not go unless you give me a flight to go there. They were angry and they ask me whether I wanted to work or quit. I said I quit and they told me to tender my resignation immediately. So, I went to the office in Subang Jaya and surrendered the company's Blackberry as well as my Dell tag. The sad part is since I was tied to a bond for 1 year with the company, all my claims and 3 months salary will be offsetted to cover the training costs. Even though I did not receive my salary, at least I am glad that I am out of this hell.

I was in a chinaman company, when in job interview, they asked about your relationship of you with your girlfriend.
Good thing i left it last month and join better company.

At least shift work just require one to work at odd hours......
But, if you are in IT or engineering there, you need to standby or on-call after office hours, that's without any pay.......
And, the percentage of you getting call after office hours is almost 100%.........meaning that you need to wake up then attend to incidents..........

You may be right but it depends on the situation. In my situation, I did not want to accept outstation calls and they were not happy about it. I was issued a first warning letter because of this and I quit because they will keep assigning me more outstation clients.

i also want to add another, @don1s, i got the details through someone working there. 6 days work, low salary. During CNY they close doors for around 1 week but give unpaid leaves.

another 1 is a japan facial company, got japanese staff there... 1st 3 months NO pay slip, NO EPF, Socso.

believe it or not, sometimes i had to pick up shit... physical shit

we are allowed to bring pets to the company as long as they behave. (pet related co so it's allowed). anyway, there's a colleague of mine has a dog that does not behave well. Pee & poop as it likes. If dunno how to behave don't bring here lah... but she said if leave at apartment it will bark until neighbours complain... She works as a salesperson so most of the time not at office. So guess who have to pick up the shits? Sometimes the owner will say sorry & paiseh, but still... haih...

Worst thing is boss also likes to call me to pick up shits cause i'm a dog person... (so therefore not afraid to pick up shit? what logic is this? ) I never bring this topic up, just patiently clean the mess.

not respecting other religion
most of the staffs are non muslims, but sometimes got 1-2 are muslims. Normally we will find halal food, but sometimes they (boss & partner) secretly complain of not able to eat non halal food. One day, we went to a mall for lunch, where there are manay halal choices but the partner said want to eat wong kok we said cannot, non halal, then he answered, what? got halal mah... got chicken, got fish... at last we settle for nandos but we can clearly see his attitude.

went outstation for events, sometimes just settle for chinese food because cannot find mamak. When eat mamak, my boss purposely said: see, we eat mamak because of YOU. my muslim colleague was angry when the boss said that.

What a stupid boss. He should not hire muslim if he wanna eat pork all the time if u guys having dinner outside. I mean, if u wanna hire muslim or hindus, respect their religion la. Do not insult them. Other time also can eat pork ma. No need to say we eat mamak because of you. Why hire muslim at the first place if he wanna eat pork when having dinner with staff.

How about Teledirect Telecommerce? Founder is a French guy but management style is chinaman to the max(most of the management team are Chinese especially the Team Leader, Project Manager and Project Director ). Salary wise sucks because you need to work for commissions. If you don't make any sales, they will scream at you like a pontianak. Must work on Saturdays even though it is stated in the offer letter that we need to come only on alternate Saturdays.I used to work there in 2008 but I don't know whether the management style is still the same?

I m workin at one of cinaman co for 2months now. In puchong. Suck ur energy kaw2.. During iv, manager said ot is up to u. They not force u to ot.. After u work, they said must ot. Saturday also work. Half day. But supervisor like me should work till 5pm on saturday. Damn.. Monday - friday, ot till 8pm. So suck isnt it. Pay u small amount of salary and ot. All his son working with him. Family company. All family in the office. I got a senior supervisor. He is really suck. Push me here and there. Also, like to comment and condemn at the same time. As if he is super good. Kanasai. One shouldnt work at a family own company. Its kinda bored u know. At least find a bigger company. Or the family not working there. That one will be better.

what to do? not everyone wants to work in ah pek company. salary just 2k. i'm not sure the phrase "we eat mamak because of you" is just a joke or not, as i'm not there... just heard it from colleagues. But still, sensitive issues are not meant for jokes

the boss invited us to his brother's wedding lunch... we never met the bride & groom before, but we went there to give face to the boss. Boss said no need to give angpow. No problem. Problem comes from the partner & his friend, told us to go there early to help out. Err... the boss himself didn't ask us to help... Why so kepoh? Boss only invite us for lunch, no mention of helping out. The friend probably just wants to impress the boss. We ingore them and just went for lunch, the partner is unhappy.

another problem is, the muslim colleague didn't turn up. We (staffs) understand as the wedding is in a chinese restaurant. Non halal mah... but the boss said was unhappy that he didn't turn up. But the staff also not responsible lah... not coming must tell early mah...

I graduated with a diploma in mechanical engineering, not to boost myself, because nowadays diploma is also not very high qualification and I dropout during pursuing my degree. So my story begins in February which is after CNY I started working till now. The job scope I applied for is business coordinator in a warehouse. So after I got in I have been given a 3 months probation. So here is how it goes. I started with stock checking, then picking items. And I am not talking about small items, The items I deal with is big and heavy like toilet bowl and basin, but also got small items. The job description is about handling orders and dealing with customer. But it gets worst.

The manager ask me to lift heavy things, then sweep floor(the whole warehouse), then when I go back on time, the manager ask "why go back so early? got wife waiting ar?" Then like to change from A to B. Ask u do A then after done she will said I ask u do B la.. When in good mood c u time hehehe when bad mood, she will said what r u doing?? If can't finish u don't go bek today!!!. Or worst ask me change her pet tortoise water and then ask me to crush tin cans. Sometimes work so tired picking things walking here and there,up and down then at the end of the day only get a packet of Kopi ais. She think she can buy me with just a packet of kopi asi.
Then the office ppl also treat me as their handyman, when need to bring things to their car, they will call me like sometimes I just pass by them they will stop and ask "hey help me take this to my car or hey help me find some unused box" I mean cmon I am a diploma graduate. I didn't sign up for all of these. When confirm time which is June the Hr said I mayb can start doing some paper work but at the end just kuli till now.. Seems like I have been fooled, The worker(warehhouse dept) there also half half la, some ok some show face and backstab.

I really can't tahan anymore, I work till spinal bone pain and leg muscle pain, Hand got a few scars since I got in there all because I doing the manual labor. Shud I just leave? every single day once I open my eyes I just thinking of leaving. Am I a weak person because work not even 1 year, just 8 months. Or is it the job got problem?

Your job scope hinted neither anything mechanical nor engineering. If your Diploma result is not too bad, why not try to go for another job? It's painful to work a job where you wake up questioning yourself every morning. Your job scope doesn't add to your CV in the future as well. Better to leave early and work at someplace with relevance than to waste your time in this hell hole of yours.

If you can't find a redeeming point then why bother?
