for sake of completeness and future reference for anyone installing xbmc for the first time and want the above "big four", easiest way to get is to go to settings->file manager->add source... and get them online by keying in one by one:

http://fusion.xbmchub.com
http://install.mashupxbmc.com
http://use.superrepo.org/Frodo
http://xfinity.xunitytalk.com

of course, after that, need to get the whatever zip files and then enable the addons you so desire.

thank you, and there are where the fun begun thumbup.gif

actually, unless one is a tv fanatic, a few good addons is more than enough for most people, incl all in the family...

fusion: 1channel, icefilms, daily flix, kissanime, navi-x
mashup: mashup n all the goodies incl live tv stations, news
superrepo: football today (in hd)
xunity: istream, iwo

life is never the same again with xbmc! tongue.gif

Good question. I also want to know how good XBMC runs on
- Minix X5
- Himedia Q series
- Rasberry Pi (some says it's a bit slow)

Looking to get one of these for my second TV, mainly playing from HDD (NAS maybe in future) and probably streaming.

I've been running OpenElec XBMC with RPi for quite some time now.

IceFilm, 1Ch are good but recently i m using SimplyPlaer and GoTV/I wanna watch to watch US TV Series in HD. Especially SimplyPlayer is highly recommended.

There's no simple answer to which repo to use. U can go to XBMCHUB.com forum to read up on all the available repos but for me easiest way is to install all the REPOs and then install all the add-ons 1-by-1 to try them out.

There is also a wizard in FUSION which will install the most common/recommended plugins for you. Go try them out smile.gif

Good Chinese/HK/Korean sources are scarce nowadays. Mainly using Azdrama.net , Good Drama and Drama Crazy. Last time AzDrama used to have lots of 720p sources but noawdays 240/480 at best sad.gif

KissAnime is great, they stream 1080p animes and all up to date smile.gif

For sports you can try Navi-x or SportsDevil (maxmusterman Repo)

But nowadays HD sports channel are also hard to come by sigh...

To me RPi is fast enough. All depending on the SD Card you use. Also i moved the storage to USB ThumbDrive instead of SD Card itself and the best thing is you can easily Overclock RPi to make it faster (I m using medium settting).

Try to google as much as you can, all info are there. Once you get a hang of it, it's easy.

i've even managed to reprogram the buttons on my TV remote for one touch functions like searching for Subtitles etc tongue.gif

Also, you can download XMBC remote using ur iOS/Android device to control XMBC.

And i especially like the AirPlay function. You can stream any video / picture from your iphone/ipad to the TV. No need buy ATV tongue.gif

Raspberry Pi, with a casing and SD card think you will spend not more than 200 ringgit will get you small foot print player. But need to be IT know how to set it up running. The disadvantage, Rpi don't have storage to store movies.

Any Rpi uses here using USB keyboard? Searching without keyboard is really a pain.

Been using XBMC for a month and it's awesome.
For my main TV I'm using a budget PC connect to my TV using HDMI. Sometimes I use ARC from my TV to my HTIB for better 5.1 sound to get cinema experience. There are many contents in HD and in 5.1 audio and of course new movie or TV show release are available almost up to date.
Mashup contents itself is more than sufficient. There are even 3D movies too and no issue with lagging even with 3D with my VIP10 Unifi.

I also use a Himedia Q5 for my bedroom TV to watch late night sport on Navi using WIFI. Totally satisfy.

Some say Himedia Q (dual core) are not good enough to run XBMC.
Does it have any problem on streaming (mashup, 1channel etc) on a Unifi VIP5?
I do read somewhere they have problem playing 1080P video from HDD.
Do you have any problem with video playback from HDD (720P/1080P)?

As I have mentioned my setup consists of the following:

2 units ATV2 jailbroken - awesome
1 unit OUYA - also awesome in 1080p

Basically any Quadcore will do as dual core will never have enough juice to run XBMC and WILL always have problems like lag, hang and FC

BTW I also have 2 units of Himedia collecting dust

I only use USB keyboard during the initial setup.
After that, I use yatse remote control for XBMC (Android phone) where you can use keyboard to type in when u wanna search for something.

Q series using HiSilicon chipset, not officially supported by XBMC. Lack of hardware acceleration.

If IINM, RK3066 and AMLOGIC chipset based android player is supported.
I know Minix series run RK3066, not sure which player support AMLOGIC.

Official supported hardware
XBMC wiki supported android hardware
