To my observation, the navigation to watch TV channels between Mashup and Livestreams nod.gif

Via Mashup
Video-addon > Mashup > Livestreams > My XML Channel - channel list

Via Livestreams
Video-addon > Livestreams - channel list

Map your way and don't get lost biggrin.gif

Hi guys, I've been using XBMC for quite some time using my laptop. So I know my way around it to get it works (add onn, etc). Now I'm thinking of building a HTPC. I'm low on budget, so I'm going to buy TV first. While saving money to buy a PC, I can play movies by plug in my external HDisk to TV.

My question is which brand that u guys recommend for me to use?that best to play 720p and 1080p? also, how well does a TV can serve while streaming live football from XBMC?anybody can share experience?

Now my laptop can play 720p movie and tv shows quite smooth. Only have dual core intel with 2GB RAM. Run XBMC on windows 7 ultimate. But when it comes to streaming live tv or football, the picture is quite bad.

For HTPC, I'm thinking as long as I have cope to the minimum requirement, I have no problem running XBMC right? or whats your opinion? Might as well have a better one to have better experience.

I have a 3.5" HD full with movies and tv shows, so I might have to install that one to the PC. I don't want to waste money to build or buy NAS.

Need some comment and opinion from XBMCgurus. biggrin.gif thanks!

i think someone here recently also asked for recommendations on htpc, how to build, where to buy... he couldn't find much here.
if u can't get much here, perhaps can check out this htpc thread...?

to my understanding we can gather and build it on our own, edited the existing url inside the .xml , the format of each url must end as .m3u8

something to peek and try it biggrin.gif

Just get the latest bay trail NUC from intel. IF you have extra budget, can go for the i3 one. Nice, sleek and fast for XBMC smile.gif

tv is probably the least u need to worry about. all will work with xbmc or any streaming for that matter.

quality of video and audio obvsiously depend on what device ur using and the video-audio output type - hdmi or component or composite, hdmi/avr or digital audio or lcpm...

my experience with tv is limited but for video, this i know:

sharp high end lcdtv - 4.5/5
sharp low end ledtv - 4/5
sony crt - 4/5
dell led monitor - 3.5/5

Low in budget might be differ to some, any older refurbished PC as low as Intel LGA755 also can run XBMC. Lets say:-
Any Quad Core Qxxxx series
Any low profile GC that supports HD displays, has HDMI or DVI output.
80GB sata HDD
OS at our own of choice.

What quality we are getting is depending on it's source, servers, bandwidth etc etc. The SD it offers, the SD we get.

My first post on top related, doesn't necessarily we need to invest on latest hardware than we able to play XBMC. Moreover it's only for XBMC and not doing multitask as normal PC do.

I am using 80GB for it and another 1TB for offline contents. XBMC doesn't need big capacity HDD to run it. IMO biggrin.gif

Thanks Powerwoot. Low in budget means need to buy one by one, cannot lamsam buy TV and PC. hehe. I also don't mind the HDD size for installing OS. As what I said before, I need the one that can add my existing external 3.5" HD for playing content offline. So no need to connect as external anymore. So i'm guessing the NUC suggested by arslow is not for me?

Recently I found this page which I think you should read : 8 things I would have done to build HTPC.

If for me, I would opt for the latest A88+ motherboard that runs A6 6400 for power saving (so its cooler), with no graphic card to worry about.

mATX would be the case size to go for for more superior ventilation.

As for me, I have been using A75 board with A6 (older model), with no problem rendering full HD video.

I see biggrin.gif
XBMC successfully installed right? what you need is add-ons. There are music add-ons, video add-ons and such. We have to enable 3rd party video add-ons to get vast of free movies streaming.
Give Mashup a try, there are many tutorials over the youtube if you search for it. Follow the step as per video below
