Sure bro do your research it's always good but as i mentioned there's hardly a Android media box brand which you can name here and i would not have tried and based on that experience i recommended that instead of wasting money on those so call good for nothing Android boxes you should spend that money to build/buy a Raspberry PI 2. Based on different prices listed on Lelong and depending on how much storage you want in the RPI 2 it can cost you max RM400... This RM 400 will buy you a RPI 2 device with a class 10 32GB sd card and a wireless remote with keyboard at the back.
I have just build one for a friend of mine and that's how much it cost. If you only gonna use it to play online contents and IPTV and you do not have any local media (huge library of locally stored movies) then you won't need even a 32GB card and a 8GB or 16GB card will do which will bring down the cost as most of the Ads listed on lelong/here do include a bundle 8gb sd card and so price can be minus 70/75RM from the RM400. Again if you don't want to use a fancy wireless remote and simple IR or a old keyboard can do the job you can minus another RM100 from the cost.. So as such the device is around RM200 only but i think that would be the best RM200-400 you will spend to build a good performing media box.

If you new to all this i can help you build one and setup with all the cool Add-ons for movies and LiveTVs. smile.gif

chief Jaan76 u are simply awesome pal....i love ur thread. we should connect since I love technologies as well thumbup.gif

a quick check with you chief, I believe you would have done all the necessary tests before;
1. we already have class10 32GB SD Card fully configured with openelec/KODI setup. if you setup OR configure a high storage of USB stick (work as storage ONLY and for booting purpose use the SD card).
2. does it make any difference on the speed and all?

just wonder because I'm a bit of itchy in doing/testing this configuration hmm.gif Please let me know ya...don't want to waste time if that does not make any difference.

thanks in advance for your feedback.

ciao!

Sure bro we can catch up anytime smile.gif...

Ok i will try to test, it's just i don't have any media on USB as i'm using a purpose build NAS in my setup... so only that i need to copy movies to some USB and test and cuz I'm currently building 3 more RPI 2/KODI setups two for the forumers from here, who requested me to build for them smile.gif so may need some time to test this setup.

just share my setup here with my Rpi2 for sound system...

1. I have connected my Rpi2 to Denon AVR
2. I always watch movie with 720 OR 1080 depends on the movie i select AND most of the sound system comes with 2.0
3. yesterday, i was watching Jurassic Park (the 1st one) - 1080 video selection from KODI+2.0 sound system. the sound system from the movie via my Denon AVR (i was really thrashing the speakers loudly) was AWESOME until the neighbors kids come n c the movie together... thumbup.gif

How you guys connect the RPi2 to the sound system as the RPi2 only comes with a simple audio jack output?

RPI2 does support Digital Audio over HDMI and does support Passthrough for DD & DTS. However it doesn't support HD-Audio. I have tested it by connecting with me AVR and it works perfectly fine.

So I have tested 2 remotes with RPI 2, Mele F10 Pro Deluxe and Minx Wireless Remote. I found Mele F10 to be better and it works fine with Kodi/OpenElec/OSMC.
There's only one key which doesn't work if you using on RPI2 which is the menu key but rest all work out of the box and can be reconfigured to assign any action.
If you use these remotes with KODI/OE on an intel PC then even Menu key works fine.
So those who are looking for a small/dual job remote/keyboard for KODI/OE/OSMC on RPI or Intel PC can sure use Mele F10 Pro Deluxe as a good option.
I didn't try Rii remote which i also suggested earlier cuz of the price difference between 2, Mele F10 Pro is way much cheaper than Rii (At least to me as i did a bulk deal with the vendor and got a good price smile.gif )

for me navi-X sucks...there are better AddOns out there for movies and etc. Maybe you are looking for something else in Navi brows.gif

You can also check-out the following site for Addons recommendation;
1. http://kodicommunity.com/
