This is the first time my budgies have chicks, I'd just bought the bird 2 months ago. I have no experience rearing chicks, so any helps and tips are welcome.

Can't wait to see them fly..... I hope they all survive... sweat.gif

I have a white canary. Used to sing quite a lot, ever since I bought other songbirds like Magpie and Pekin Robin, now my Canary refused to sing. sad.gif

Actually I feel geri by looking at these chicks (when they are very young without much feather).

My handfeed lovebirds had grown up quite a fair bit. See picture below. Now I put them into a bigger cage during day time, so that they could stretch and flap their wings and learn to stand on the stick.

I think he feels inferior as compared to those Magpies. Sigh....

Birds also can get jealous too, if I put my 2 cockatiels on my shoulder, the tamed one (normal grey) will try to push the new bird (Lutino) off my shoulder. Very funny... tongue.gif

The hen is an English Budgie, the cock is a normal budgie, I don't know what to call the chicks thou, Probably they'll be normal budgie like their dad.

I put my birds in a flight cage that's big enough to fit ten people. By looking at the rate they're breeding, the flight will be full of budgies by next year. drool.gif

I'll post some more pics soon

Hmm. It could be feeling 'pressed' by the Magpie singing, But Pekin Robin should be ok ga..But hang on...U guys can still find Peking Robin? I thought ban from exporting in china? I remember 10 years back I bought Peking Robin for RM 10 only. THen they chau until RM 250 after the band.

RM150 would expensive if it is not tamed. If untamed it should be around RM 60-80 depending on the length of the tail too. I had one..Until it got curi-ed along with my other prized magpies.

I'm not selling them yet... the family is attached to the birds. I'll let you if any tame english budgie turn up for sale.

Added on May 28, 2008, 5:36 pmAnybody breeding budgies? I wanna start my own colony..... I've seen the birds flock in a video more than 20 000 strong. I'm really interested to breed these birds. I'm thinking of building a bigger flight cage so they all can live together.

Any advise?

Sigh... not a good day. My baby tiel just died. Apparently the female fed it too soon, overfed. The abdomen was so hard, and the crop too full.... sigh.... maybe I should have taken it out to hand feed sooner.

Another egg is fertile.... gonna wait another 15 days for it to hatch.

Anyone here withe experience with hand feeding 1 day old hatched chicks?
