Was at USJ Cycles and the guy recommended the same Trinx FA-2016 to me but with Disc Brake...is this necessary?

Trinx FA2016D

And, he said same SPEC & PRICE, XDS-AFB 630.
XDS-AFB630

Any recommendation if it's between this two models?

For those who knows how to read mandarin,
http://www.qixing365.com/thread-74842-1-1.html

This girl uses Dahon SP8 to Lhasa, Tibet, China. Whole journey 2160kms.

When they say FB is not suitable for long journey ride
When they say FB wheel is so small and not suitable for long ride
When they say FB steel frame is so heavy, you will die and melt
When they say FB can't go mild off-road
When they say FB can't do this can't do that, but a girl has done it, it means you did not work hard enough. nod.gif

So, just buy and ride. It's more about your will and your stamina, not the restrictions of the bike.
Of course yes la, you shall not ride uphill with 11t. icon_rolleyes.gif

Any bicycle with get you somewhere. How far you will go, how high you will climb, how fast you will go, how much you can carry.....only a bicycle can tell you, and it can make the journey enjoyable or plain hard work, you choose the right bike for the journey.

For THAT journey I would have taken a full size touring bike which would have been faster, safer (big wheel), sturdier (less affected by load), better gears, and would have taken much less time....meaning she could have traveled further nod.gif

But....maybe she had to take some buses or trains along the way........

Maybe she normally ride with 11T with that 74T front....ok lah....... shocking.gif

Would be easier to change the back freewheel. If you can get a 11-30T or something similar, that would give you a much better top speed. Ask a few kakis here who has just bought on TaoBao.

This bike of yours, to mod, you'll have to spend $$. If the 11T is still not fast enough, then you'll need to change the crankset and bottom bracket.

You're correct when you say any bikes can get us somewhere, but not everybody said the same. Some of them are actually telling new biker to avoid FB even for a > 50kms round island type event. This perspective must change.

IMHO, time/fast or not should not be a constraint when we are saying touring, which mean we should take our own sweet time to enjoy the trip as the journey has been planned out beforehand.

Safer and steadier yes for bigger wheel, but when we travel slow enough like touring, 20"/16" should not be a problem. Gears are not problem this day, we can always go 11-34t and double chainring.

FB memang fun la... Now every day after work I park my car at my in law house, take out the bike from the boot and cycle away back home to settle everything, change shoes, go back to in law house and take my son then go for a ride. When done, lipat lipat throw it back inside the boot, makan makan dinner, then drive back home. thumbup.gif
