i think you should just use htpc for dtsma/ddtruehd and android box just for streaming.

i think android tv box most likely will give audiophile sakit kepala.

You can get many cheap android box review here too:

once u hv tried 2 or more diff class of boxes, u will understand why there is such a diff in price.

it is not relevant for those who just want simple streams or playback basic ripped files.

but it is a prime requirement for those who demand the best video and audio output quality incl hd audio, bluray menu, ease of navigation and control when playing back the highest quality files/folders on home theaters and large screen 1080p/4k tv's.

Hmm... maybe it didn't work well with my m8s+. No such issue when running GoatTV, Rice & Flying Fox.

BTW, GoatTV has started asking for payment.  sad.gif

Google Play store doesn't welcome piracy. You have to side load the APK.

Hi guys, I need some advice.

My dad has asked me to get a box for him that can stream countless channels and movies. he saw on lazada and was selling for RM480. i went to gadget zone and they are selling theirs for RM590 with one year warranty. And i take it, one year warranty means, uninterrupted streaming until i'm block by the authorities.

Any specific brand or specs I should buy?
Thanks.

I would recommend you to buy from Nicety (his nick) from Garage Sales section. He gives very good advice and guides. But he does delivery. If you wanna look at the physical device, I would buy from Digital Mall PJ, the shop on the right side of the escalator on the 1st floor. I bought mine from there. No complaints after 1.5 years.

Thanks, I'll check out Nicety. I am in Penang, so my choices are limited compared to KL.
I was looking at Unblock (UBOX) Gen3.

Mistake number one.. It has been mentioned over and over in this thread.. Buying an android box does not always equal endless entertainment.. Especially one preinstalled.. Can endless entertainment be achieved? Somewhat, BUT it's completely dependent on the box owner's ability to keep up with the ever changing apps/services world (legal or otherwise). Once you fully understand this, your only concern will be getting a capable box that should handle almost all thrown at it..

P.S. That tiger in your avatar better be punching a rat or similar.. brows.gif

That's a long time... Looks like progress is being made so just let it run its course and don't interrupt it.. Risk bricking the device.

It's sufficient for certain streams and or downloads.. Not ideal though.. Some buffering is expected.

Hmm.. Been awhile since me last Hulu subscription.. It did work on the Minix Neo U1. Though if it's just Hulu Plus that interests you, consider Google's Chromecast instead.
