MXIII-G II is a nice S912 box judging from the review: This post has been edited by BOTAK_WAI: Dec 8 2016, 12:55 AM |

QUOTE(ktek @ Dec 8 2016, 10:05 AM) oh is license issue. luckily bought 1 only. i think you should just use htpc for dtsma/ddtruehd and android box just for streaming.mibox give parents ok. i up himedia for next purchase. good resourse to spend my weekend i think android tv box most likely will give audiophile sakit kepala. QUOTE(voncrane @ Dec 11 2016, 11:16 PM) from kodi teamQUOTE Sorry guys but the Team with limited manpower no longer has the will to build in workarounds for vendors not following the proper API's, we believe that while we continue to do this the vendors will continue to release buggy firmware that doesn't properly adhere to the API's. While we regret users getting caught up in the politics, with Kodi having such a big user base on Android, we think we are now in a position to flex some muscle by no longer supporting the hacks of the past, and by only sticking to the API's do think there's any hope of creating a change in attitude from the box/SoC vendors. If users also only support boxes that do adhere to standards and boycott products which don't, then the box/Soc vendors will be further incentivise if they start getting hit where it hurts, by decreased sales and revenue. If you buy a product which doesn't support the formats it should for passthrough (see list from fritsch) then return the box clearly stating why. |

Bought this 2G/8G S905 box MX IV.
First thing I did when received the box: Dismantle! Haha… Wifi antenna is just a wire attached with an antenna sticker. What I not satisfy is it doesn't come with any heatsink on chip, so I mod it by adding a small heatsink. The internal looks (not my pic): » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « The remote sucks too, luckily I bought a Logitech K400 Plus for it. updated to the firmware found on aliexpress, ntg change because it is same with the stock firmware. problem so far can't adjust brightness in setting, no dts, internal memory quite slow (25 read 11 write only). boring generic launcher, GUI not nice but logical and practical. no pull down notification and no navigation bar. good thing is 3 usb ports at side, appreciate that for convenience. another otg port which i never use. green led when on red when off, luckily not too bright. old S905 chip although no ota update, it still comes with quite new firmware [p201-userdebug 5.1.1 LMY47V 20160902 release-keys], kernel is dated 20161007. wifi and lan speed no test. used the box to surf internet, play local media file, youtube and stream RICE and HDPTV only. Sekian. This post has been edited by BOTAK_WAI: Dec 18 2016, 12:06 AM |

most of those china tv box doesn't decode dts and ac3 with the pre-installed video player or mx player.
for those who don't use kodi or spmc, you can add custom codec to mx player so that you can watch the movie by software decoding the dts and ac3. (i think it just downmix to 2.0 and no bitstream, i got no av amp to test it out). tutorial here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-pl...upport-t2156254 wonder why no body share this here. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Dec 15 2016, 03:56 PM) Cuz there's no need to stream/download DTS-ish & larger files only to downmix HD audio back to stereo. Just play the smaller and readily accessible files with stereo sound... Those who possess the proper equipment to play HD audio know we'll to obtain and play em. some how i got some old dvd iso file collection…hahaQUOTE(AVFAN @ Dec 15 2016, 04:32 PM) primarily becos most people don't care about dts/dd since they play audio from tv mainly. yea…even my old himedia with realtek 1185 also more convenient secondarily, before the arrival of cheap boxes, most users go for better known brands that pay for dts/dd, dtshdma and ddtruehd licenses, e.g. himedia, minix. my 6 yr old ac ryan and 4 yr old himedia can pass thru dtshdma/ddtruehd. both can do bdmv's nicely too. both are made in china. |

QUOTE(voncrane @ Dec 19 2016, 11:06 PM) Nope.. I do believe it's slightly more expensive.. Also performs better. Doesn't face the poor video processing & bottleneck issues which troubles most RK CPUs. Wonder why realtek doesn't do well like rtd1186 era...Tried on a smartphone running 6.0.1 and its not working. App installs and launches.. Attempts to play any channel (tried more than 10 different links) ends up with the error message as below... help translating? [attachmentid=8278357] "channel in maintenance......" "recovering soon, plz wait dear........." maybe you can try adjust app permission? |
