Saw this new H96 Pro+... Was wondering with S912, 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM will have any significant performance boost or not VS the boxes with S912,  2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.

True, either 24 really light apps or more likely they aren't all running simultaneously.. The Android OS is just that good at killing or placing the apps on standby.. You know, recycled RAM.. I remember when the same was said about PC RAM.. Nowadays, we have PCs with 32GB+ RAM.. Sure it's overkill for most and for others, just right. It's a personal preference..

Google’s official minimum spec for a 64-bit phone (that’s pretty much every phone these days) is 832MB - 1824MB RAM (depends on density and screen size), which tells us quite how tight memory will be on any phone with 1GB or even 1.5GB of the stuff. For a bit of wider context, the Facebook app is using about 400MB RAM on a phone... While I don't use the living room TV for social media apps.. I do use it for Kodi and a bit of gaming.. Kodi requires RAM to cache content and using a customized advancedsettings.xml file, I can increase the buffer size, allowing it to cache more content.. This is going to be particularly useful for the smooth playback of full 4K videos for those with access to such files and a 4K TV... Heck, probably some high bit rate 1080p files..

As for gaming, well that's self explanatory.. smile.gif

Guys.. got a budget arnd ~RM700.. and eyeing between the Himedia Q10 Pro and the Minix Neo U1.

I like the idea of the Q10 Pro can slot in a sata hdd, where i can dump all my medias in the sata hdd, snap it into the box and no more worries abt space.

Which one would u guys recommend?

Personally, I'd recommend the Minix Neo U1..However, the HiMedia Q10 Pro does feature HDR and better HD audio passthrough tech... I believe 7.1 HD audio passthrough with Dolby Atmos, DTS-HD and True HD - not to mention 192K/24 bit audio decoding, which is rare among devices with Android.

Try getting your hands on the firmware.. Perhaps a manual flash may solve the issues.

q10 pro is a premium device.

if u r into big files incl bdmv's, 10bit, 60fps, 4k, HDR, dtshdma, dtsx, ddatmos and ddtruehd, it will be the right choice.

if not, those capabilities will not be utilized.

if not mistaken, the slot can take an HDD up to 4TB.

the brand is reliable, good hardware, frequent firmware updates (make sure u know how to get them).

the specs are 3 years old.

such a box did sell for rm400 or so at that time.

now, RM100... ok.

if u are a light user, RM100 is quite alright.

just make sure it comes with or u can find the current firmware.

Hi All,

Planning to get a TV box as well, any recommendations? No budget.

The ones that have plenty of channels (english and chinese) and movies. Dont have 4K tv now but might have in the future.

Will the channels be free or is there a one time subscription fee?

Thanks!

Cant read chinese, so if the navigation is in English, better!

Firmware updates introduce new features or bug fixtures.. There's a saying: "If it ain't broken, don't fix it"... So it's up to you to decide to upgrade or not. However, if it's the Neo U1.. I recommend flashing the latest FW release as it includes several noteworthy bug fixes.. One which improves SD content PQ and some x265 video playback issues.

This is a common misconception.. An Android powered TV box does not equal immediate live TV channels ... In addition to reading this thread, visit the garage sales thread for sellers of IPTV services.. Most come bundled with a particular box..
