wat flaw? jerk is not flaw

r u sure replaced gearbox? wats abt it

QUOTE(kelvinftg @ Jan 8 2016, 10:53 PM)
My honest positives and negatives on my 2013 Focus Sport +. These are my very own unbiased views so other owners may not agree. I still love my car, but too bad ST was out of budget.

While it does not break down and require towing like the infamous VW Golf or Peugeot 308, it definitely has its flaws. And the biggest flaw is without a doubt, the transmission.

+ design (subjective)
+ Less common
+ Powerful 2.0 NA
+ Handling
+ Front seats
+ Technology packed
+ Fit & finish
+ 5 years warranty (no disputes so far for all my claims)

- Space (fine for me, not so fine for my rear passengers as I'm tall)
- Terrible driving at low speeds, traffic jams etc. Jerks due to poor double clutch design. I DREAD it.
- Engine vibration at idle (Literally no one at Ford knows WTF is going on)
- Replaced gearbox, clutch, steering rack, drive shaft & engine mounting so far.
- Service centres need improvement, same goes for some of their staffs.
- Absolutely horrible resale value

y buy a Ford if resell value important to u

or y buy a car when even Toyota can't fetch u good resell value

QUOTE(Ken77 @ Jan 22 2016, 04:48 PM)
Yeab.... just went to Honda showroom with plan to sell  off my Ford Focus. My year 2013  sedan car was able to trade in around RM46K to RM50K only ....WTF!

I left no choice to drive this car for few more years ( come with package of no spare parts which require to wait for few weeks , problematic gear system and last and not least , screw up  after sales service till I complaint to SDAC General Manager)

usually rear is stiffer for most car, front need to absorb impact more so Focus will also total lost if head on very hard

r u talking about ur 05' Focus? what it has to do with current Focus MK3?

QUOTE(cba6p @ Mar 24 2016, 12:37 AM)
Nothing from the same class beats FF in term of body rigidity, engine durability and many others but too bad its bad transmission is a BIG downside. Just like a muscular man with a weak kidney. Can you imagine how terrified I was when driving back from northern Thailand in a jerky car? The car jerks when speed is >80 km/h. It took me 5 days to reach JB....lol

lol he'll probably enjoy ranting at every places not T/H, to proof his dick size, usually u'll just choose to ignore these ppl

QUOTE(Dwango @ Mar 24 2016, 09:40 PM)
You are just being ignorant. If you feel utterly disgusted with the resale value of the Ford, that doesn't mean everyone should feel the same like you, as you have stated confidently that EVERYONE will be disgusted. Just because you are disgusted, you think everyone should be in the same boat feeling the disgust? That is just pure immaturity that you are showing there.

If Focus owners (or any other car model) should not feel okay with the poor resale, what should you suggest that he do? Bang his head on the wall or jump into the sea? You didn't realise that your rant here and some others who think that EVERYONE should look at the losses of the Ford with disgust not only makes you look like sour grapes, getting the car and then having regret, crying out about the shitty resale value like a small child.

Get over it. I repeat, NOT EVERYONE look at high losses with disgust or we try to comfort ourselves. That only applies to you. You are just speaking for yourself, and to imply that EVERYONE feels that way is just stupid.

wat most facepalm is some fella thought Mazda is continental car, no kidding

QUOTE(dares @ Mar 25 2016, 04:59 PM)
If you care about RV but went ahead and bought a Ford anyway, you only have yourself to blame for not doing your due research before buying.

As the old adage goes : mau RV, belilah Toyota/Honda.

Not even the excellent new Mazdas can guarantee you decent RV come resell time.

Its MK3.5

I doubt the diff is big or very noticeable from MK3

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Mar 27 2016, 10:21 AM)
Has any current Focus Mk3 owners test-driven the new Ford Focus 1.5 Ecoboost? Any difference between the Mk3 and MK4, and is there any noticeable difference between the Sport Hatchback Mk4 and Titanium Sedan Mk4 in the ride and handling?

pre-facelift center hand rest is bigger & cooler

QUOTE(zas3 @ Mar 29 2016, 03:27 PM)
Hi all,

Had an opportunity to test drive the FL Focus at SDAC Jln Ipoh this morning. My wife has a 2014 Focus which I drive quite frequently.

The following is my first impression and comparison with the pre-FL Focus driven back to back. Both cars are the hatchback variants:

Interior - Like the center console of the new Focus. Less busy, better designed central cup holders, 2 USB ports among others. Did not play around with the touch screen and SYNC 2 functionality.

Engine - Acceleration is quicker at low revs. It feels more responsive. Somehow I found the noise from the engine bay is louder/harsher compared to the pre-FL Focus. Kinda bothers me a bit during the drive. Maybe it's the characteristic of a turbo engine. The only turbo car I've driven before was the new Mondeo, but that car was very quiet. Prefer the engine note of old Focus, but this is purely individual preference.

Transmission - Very smooth compared to the pre-FL, as expected of a conventional auto. My 2014 Focus has this loss of power feel when accelerating at low speed and slight jerking, which is not an issue with the new Focus. But when driven hard, I find the gear change of the auto transmission a bit lifeless. It kinda takes away the fun of driving this car hard. For spirited driving I prefer the DCT of the old Focus, mainly for the quick shifting and the little kickback it makes when changing gears.

Suspension - Couldn't really tell the difference between the two in terms of cornering and bump soaking. Both feels the same to me.

Overall I think both cars have their own pros and cons based on the criteria above. Whether one is better than the other depends on your priority and preference. Just my 2 cents.

well mayb im weird, few factors for me to make the deal on MK3 is the quiet cabin and great audio.. and handbrake position, center console, comfortable seat, bold interior, im more enjoy internal than anything else, crappy interior just make u no mood to drive at all

i am using S all the time now, sometimes D at low speed, it jerks more but its super fun & the FC seems improve in city drive, im 80% city so 2.0 is really not ideal for me actually.

S at higher speed & maintain higher rpm, 1 touch on the brake or sometimes jus let go of it, the gear will drop so fast u nvr can do in a manual thx to dual clutch =P, and thats the best noise u wanted + the awaiting torque when u put ur feet back at the throttle

QUOTE(Dwango @ Mar 30 2016, 02:52 PM)
When the car is driven hard at high speeds, we prefer to have the jerks(kickback) to give that extra adrenaline drive. But when the car is driven sedately at low speeds, we prefer the car to be without the jerks for a smooth drive. With the new Focus 1.5, we have managed to resolve the jerks at low speed (when driven sedately), but the fun factor is also gone as by eliminating the jerks at low speed, they have also taken out the jerk/kickback/jolt which gives the adrenaline rush. When the car is accelerating hard, the jolts that push you back to your seat. That's missing.

Guess that's the trade-off in the 6-speed conventional transmission, apart from the perceived rougher engine sound. Will see how the turbo engine sounds like when I have the opportunity to drive the car. Surprising that the sound from the 1.5 Ecoboost sounds rougher than the Ecoboost engine in the Mondeo. Maybe the Mondeo has more sound insulation, or the turbo engine in the Mondeo is a higher displacement unit compared to the smaller engine in the Ford Focus that sounds rougher/louder comparatively.

suspension is sporty but jumpy on uneven corner road that's y passenger will feel sick if he/she cannot tolerate, try adjust the seat to lean back a little, the seat actually support very well. the putrajaya highway road cant do high speed it jump too much cos stupid uneven road condition

QUOTE(Chungyehkoo @ Apr 5 2016, 10:00 PM)
Speaking of Genting ride, my in-law got car sick even I not doing it really fast.
Anyway, my very own opinion, on a daily rides, even I enjoying the "racing" ride high speed on cornering at trunk road, our stiff suspension does not really suite at Malaysia road condition, I will probably change it to a softer 1 after warranty over if I still driving my Sport +.
Driving in KL still OK, but over at Putrajaya or along at Kajang and Seremban, or Puchong or many others Taman-taman, I mostly do the corner with bit worry of the road even I am familiar with them.

met this David guy, he got too much claim job he even suggest me to try other sc which lucky i did

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Apr 5 2016, 10:17 PM)
A comment on sending cars to the Ford PJ service centre for accident repairs. I find the managing of accident cars by Ford PJ service centre to be very poor. First is they don't have a workshop runner to do all the paperwork, getting all the documentation ready for the owner for submission. That is one thing, not a very big issue but still, bad.

Secondly, when they return the car to me, to my horror there were several scratch marks on the driver's door, with one spot where the metallic paint has completely peeled off. Also, the front bumper had nicks and scratches. And the interior of the car is very dirty with stains all over the beige leather seats. Coupled by deep scratches on the plastic beneath the seat where you pull the handle to adjust the inclination of the seat.

The accident claim manager over there, David was pretty much unhelpful and not doing his job, often trying to evade responsibility by making silly remarks. After some argument, got all the damages fixed(a minor visible scratch line is still visible). The replacement for the plastic piece in the interior of the car with deep scratches will be ordered by the manager in due time.

Really terrible after-sales especially with problems such as these, damages with vehicles when the car is kept at the service centre/workshop for too long. In my case, almost 2 months. A mistake to have my car sent to the PJ workshop. Should have sent to another panel workshop instead where they have runners doing the documentation, and we don't need to leave the car at the workshop for a long time.

When I was there to collect the car, coincidentally a British expatriate was also there to collect the car. He had a big argument with this David guy and shouted at him, frustrated with the level of service he is getting. He only brought along a police report with him, and the documentation was insufficient for the PJ SC guys to process the claim. So there was this big argument going on and the Brit is left without a car, and he cannot proceed with the paperwork as he flying off to the UK on the next day.

I think this David must have got a lot of ear-bashing from owners with the poor attitude and service he is showing to owners sending their accident cars to the PJ service centre.

Personally I think the PJ service centre needs to improve the management or processing of accident vehicles. If not improving the quality of workmanship by returning the car in tip-top and clean condition to the owner, at least compel the appointed workshop to provide a runner to do the paperwork.

i nvr like too many holders.. pockets.. here & there, more holders more rubbish more messy
when u see nothing to put stuffs u wont plan to put stuffs, car remain tidy & clean

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Apr 12 2016, 12:06 PM)
The redesigned bottle holders may be more practical than the previous one, though from the looks of it, it can only hold one bottle? IT's a good thing there is a cover/lid to cover the slot (if there are no bottles placed at that area).
