gearbox wont breakdown easily la, my friend's Clio has similar Getrag dry clutch gearbox as us, Turbo engine, his console can show gearbox temp, it'll shoot to very high temp but he is steady only, so good to know gearbox warning about overheating but it won't expode
QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Sep 28 2015, 10:47 AM) Very little (negligible) jerking at low speed now after the clutch replacement which is a good thing. Before the clutch replacement, the grinding sound seems to have reduced considerably. So far I have not heard any grinding sound after the clutch replacement but will monitor further. As for the warning sign of "Transmission Overheating - Stop for 6/7/8 minutes", I have encountered this 3 to 4 times before. It is very easy to get this warning if you are stuck in traffic jam, stop-go-stop-go traffic up a slightly inclined slope. The last time I got this message, I was stuck in heavy traffic at Changkat Bukit Bintang. Stop-go-stop-go jam up a slightly inclined road. I continued to drive and the warning sign went off by itself. From this experience, to minimise this warning sign from coming up, I think it may be best to switch to N whenever possible, even if it is for a short while. When the warning sign comes up, you would hope that the car won't shut down the engine by itself if you continue driving. Especially in heavy traffic. It would not only be inconvenient but embarrassing as well, the car stuck in the middle of the road due to transmission overheating problems. |

yup crampy, compare to some jap car i can even put my leg up like a boss at the back seat
but some ppl enjoy the bulky design & no care about back seat passenger.. if too empty inside don't feel secure.. worth to mention the seat in Focus is very comfortable.. QUOTE(J1@l_ l_l l\l @ Oct 7 2015, 08:11 PM) I don't mind if it's the nature of PowerShift and was designed to have this behavior, it's acceptable but if it's due to design flaw causing reliability issue, then I guess it's better to stay away. May I know what technical changes was made on the 2014 or 2015 models? U mean the transmission is only in US? Isn't Focus and the Fiesta a global car and sharing the same R&D of transmission? The Focus, theoretically is a good car, but after tried it in the showroom, I feel it's really crampy, even some of the B segment cars have more spacious cabin than it. |

it is normal, engine braking involve the drivetrain not just engine as long as clutch is stil engage when throttle released, lower gear give more friction and noisier and the new transmission configuration prefer to maintain lower gear hence the dragging sound but better control and traction for u on the road..
QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Oct 24 2015, 08:36 PM) Would like to draw experience from those who have had the clutch on the car replaced with a new one. After living with the new clutch for about 1 month, the jerking/juddering of the car has significantly reduced. However, at the expense of the smoother ride, I now can hear the dragging noise from the clutch/transmission/gearbox(whichever one) during low speed acceleration. The dragging noise sounds a bit like engine braking. But this sound is not from the engine but from the clutch/transmission/gearbox. The sound will drag on for a while, then it disappears. Not exactly a big issue but the car isn't that quiet anymore with this dragging sound. When the car was new, the car is quiet and there is no dragging sound, though the car jerks quite a bit. Now, the car doesn't jerk much but there is this dragging sound. Does anyone experience the same? |

did they tell u is worn out clutch after diagnosed? i dun find the oooooo sound is cause of problem
QUOTE(seshatri @ Dec 22 2015, 08:15 PM) Hi SportyHandling, I have the 2nd issue after my clutch change at 30k service however I already noticed the 1st one even before the clutch change. I think I started to hear the 'ooooooo' sound (the faster I drive the louder it gets and when you let go the accelerator while crazing fast it's more prominent) at around 25k. The SC told me the sound is due to worn out clutch but even after changing it the sound is still there. I need to send back to check again. |

the loss of power is to compensate the jerk, it's too jerky at current setting u dun feel it? now it tuned to lesser acc power to smoothen the gear change, yet stil complaint
bare in mind our gearbox dun hv torque converter as normal auto and it's simulating it only, u'll get jerk and wat not if u dun go ease with the acce. |

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Dec 31 2015, 09:33 AM) Lastly, the tyres that the new Ford Focus model that Philippines will be getting are 18-inch Y-spoke rims with Goodyear Asymmetric 235/40 R18. Those are massive when the current Focus sedan model here is only on 205/60 R16. Hopefully the tyres would be downsized to 17" rims when the new model comes to our shore. ![]() |
