if u drive more on highway u'll definately need this cruise control for cruising ofcos.. and achieve best FC

for me i only used it few time when driving to airport maybe.. normally i forgotten to use it lol

FC for city drive is not that good sorry to say but highway is amazing for 2.0

QUOTE(rayhvs @ Jan 23 2015, 02:56 PM)
I have went through its specification. Very surprise that the non-plus version does not come with cruise control....

the gearbox is respond slower so it actually lagging ~1 second i think when u switching gear with paddle so no fun at all, S will time it perfectly for u and it very close to manual gear shift but i use it only when i need fast maneuver or rapid stop & accelerate

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Jan 23 2015, 01:44 PM)
As mentioned by Wingwp, instead of reverting to manual mode with the manual gears(or paddle shift), one can opt for the S(Sports) mode too. Both D and S mode should cater for all driving conditions. Heck even D should be sufficient for all driving conditions, S for more spirited drives when going uphill or in racing mode.

very true, if can't endure rattling noise inside cabin (it's quite minimal actually) buy sedan/Titanium, I have seen too much complaint of stiff damper, if prefer comfortable just don't buy Sport, it's really difficult driving on uneven road =P

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Feb 12 2015, 08:18 AM)
If you want better handling, the hatchback is the car to get. Before I test-drove the Focus Titanium, I test-drove the Focus Sport. The handling is agile and sharp. Along the straight road, the stability of the Sport felt slightly better. Not that the Titanium is not good, but the Sport does show a bit more composure and didn't bounce as much when going over undulated or uneven roads. Due to the higher levels of stability of the Sport, comfort is sacrificed a bit as you will feel the sharp knocks and all imperfections of the roads more prominently than the Titanium which soaks up these irregularities on the roads more efficiently due to the 205/60R16 tyres. The Sport comes in 17" lower profile tyres.

During cornering at T-junction, the difference in stability and handling between the Sport and Titanium will also be different not only because of the different tyre sizes but also the shape of the car body and the suspension system (I understand the Focus Sport comes in stiffer sports-tuned suspension).

Y bother buying a Focus when you care so much about resale value? Don't think you'll have much choices except Toyota or Honda.

it look thick black when drain out but u can try spread on ur finger, its actually still clear & good, atleast mine is before i send servicing

QUOTE(karl039 @ Mar 26 2015, 03:20 PM)
just had my first 10k serive ( at 9028km )
from the look of the engine oil drained out from the engine, it looked very thick n black so i assume it might be too late to have a service at 10k and for me i think it should be made at 5-7k interval.

They only change the engine oil n filter. Didnt even bother to make a thorough inspection on the brakes, etc. However the once vibration, juggering problems that i had previously looks like becoming less and my engine run smoother approaching 9000 - 1k mileage.

Black color is actually awesome color, but on the road you don't see much impressive black car. I think is because lack of maintenance, or rather, hard to take care of.

by the way i heard black and white are equally hard to take care of, not sure if this is true.

good for u man, glad u found ur dream car

there r 2 types of driver, one who treat a car like soul mate.. and one just want to travel from A to B

i myself own a 18 yrs Fiat, everyday I excited to start the engine and drive it, due to aging it need repair occasionally but I still bring it back to roam the road

Focus is not for everyone honestly, its for someone passionate about style & driving satisfaction

QUOTE(Ginny88 @ Apr 12 2015, 08:05 PM)
The discount of the Focus 2.0 Titanium is indeed very tempting and coupled with high specs, powerful engine and good handling I initially though I had found the car to replace my aging Kia Optima.

But reading about the Focus systemic problems in this forum has sent me screaming back to a Jap car. When one buys a new car one should be able to settle down and enjoy it without drama for at least a few years. I have no intention to deal with jerking issues, grinding noises, suspension knocks, steering rattling, idling roughness, clutch assembly replacement, oil leaks and transmission overheating even before the car reaches 20K km. Lack of ready spare parts is compounded by overcrowded service centres resulting in the car having to be left days in the SC even for minor repairs and that is after waiting weeks or months for the parts.

People may knock Korean cars but I never had to wait for any part for my 2005 Optima whether wear and tear parts, accident parts, drive shaft or cosmetic parts.

I've now settled for a Civic 2.0 which will cost RM20K more than the Focus 2.0 Titanium (all discounts considered) with slightly less powerful engine. I also want an exhilarating ride but the price for this with the Focus is too high. Low second hand value I can deal with but spending lots of time in SC and  being without a car for days I cannot.

Anyway, this is not to disparage Focus owners. I salute all of you who have the energy, patience and temperament to own and maintain a Focus. My hat off to those who still buy a Focus after knowing its problems, fueled by incredible optimism. I for one will take the safe and boring path.

S+ Upper door panel is hard plastic and I hate it, rear doors r not very good too, Titamium is better

Center speaker cover is cheapo and most rattling sound come from there

gear lever is loosen but the touch on the leather is great and I love to molest it

sound system is brilliant btw

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Apr 13 2015, 10:19 AM)
Congratulations for settling down with the Civic 2.0. Since you have bought the Civic, I wouldn't pass comments here on the car.

For the Ford Focus, all the issues may sound serious and discourage potential buyers from considering the car. But in real life, the low-speed jerking and minor vibration at idling are not exactly bothersome issues as the symptoms are rather subtle. There are no more grinding noises and steering rattling (rattling noise in my car is due to a part in the air-cond which was fixed), and there are no oil leaks. Transmission overheating prompts will only come up during abnormal driving conditions and you can still drive you car as normal even if the prompt came up.

Korean cars are never on my list and they will never be. As much as they have improved, they are 3rd rate to me, still behind Japanese in terms of quality and reliability. As a matter of fact, after driving and experiencing the quality of the Focus, there is little chance I will go back even to the reliable Japanese again, considering all the quality not only in the handling and driving dynamics but the quality in the dashboard and interior. The dashboard material and door panels, the leather seats up to the steering wheel and gear knob feel. In all these aspects the Ford Focus is superior to all Japanese. Perhaps the interior design of the Mazda 3 is a bit better due to the futuristic round knob at the centre console which is reminiscent of BMW designs, but the quality in plastic material used in the dashboard and door panel still loses to the Ford Focus.

If you think I'm biased, we have a Mazda CX5 2.5 CBU from Japan. Although the drive of the Mazda is jerkless and smoother when compared to the Focus, as nice as the interior of the Mazda can be, the material of the dashboard and door panel is inferior and not as nice as the plastic tone of the Ford Focus.

The advantage that Japanese cars may have over continentals is in reliability, fewer problems. And cheaper maintenance. That may be one factor that drive people to Japanese cars.

Camry not bad, I sit in one in showroom I like the black interior, it's indead way better than it's rivals

QUOTE(Dwango @ Apr 13 2015, 12:19 PM)
The current Civic has lost its appeal already and is suffering plummeting sales due to lack of innovation and competition from Altis, Sylphy, Mazda3 and the Focus. The so-called "problems" are often exacerbated by non-Focus owners after reading about some issues by owners, blowing them out of proportion. In actual fact there isn't any issue with the car at all other than driving pleasure.

in sum, engine braking = Adrenaline Rush rclxms.gif

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Apr 20 2015, 01:51 PM)
Ok. FWIW when overtaking, even in D it is already sufficient and powerful. The S or Sports mode, in my opinion is more useful in certain driving conditions such as when driving up Genting Highlands, or down (although D is equally sufficient in these conditions). If you want to get up to Genting Highlands quicker, then Sports mode is fun as the RPMs are higher and you get more torque at any given speed. But the drive is slightly more jerky, but the jerks can be fun in these conditions, as opposed to annoying in normal driving conditions in city drive.

the HB actually not so steady at hard corner but it just that not easily lose grip

compare to other low profile and stiffer suspension ride, HB sorry to say I'm not that confident LOL cos it got slight wobbly and feel like going to fish tailing..

u'll feel it when zig zag at the corner

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Apr 21 2015, 07:06 PM)
Not too sure about the rear of the car being loose and having small swing on corner. Do you mean you feel the back of the car swinging slightly when you do high speed cornering? FWIW I tested the Focus Sports before and the cornering is more stable than the Focus Titanium.

I agree the cornering of the Focus is excellent. Occasionally when I am in fast-n-furious mood going into a corner, I tried not to apply the brakes and the performance of the car surprised me. Even at pretty high speeds, the car held its own during the corner. The fun part comes when you are out of the corner and you step on the accelerator and the Turbo power instantly kicks in, propelling the car forward like a beast.

im fine with the suspension setting, older now need more comfortable ride LOL and at least not like some "fake" comfortable suspension make ur car floating like boat =P

QUOTE(SportyHandling @ Apr 22 2015, 08:52 AM)
Ok noted. My test-drive session of the Focus Sports hatchback is done at pretty low speed even during cornering. But even at low speeds I can feel a certain solidity of the car when compared to the Titanium. Maybe the 17" tyres play a part too. The car felt like it is planted to the ground very firmly.

The suspension of the Focus is to the softer side and not too stiff, hence the car can be wobbly if the roads are undulating. I suppose the Focus is only good for some normal spirited drives but not overly enthusiastic sessions. It balances well between handling and comfort. If the suspension is stiffer which provides better handling/less body roll or feeling of the car losing control etc. , the car wouldn't be so comfortable for everyday driving anymore. The Focus is still comfortable for families (though not as comfortable as Japanese cars) and yet possesses the added handling and driving dynamics for some spirited sprints.
