WIKI say they are the best anti guerrilla unit on earth, wonder how is ours compare to them?
can't say for certain if our commandos fight those insurgents, they won't be fighting mano-o-mano with them like pinoy probably does.. like in LD, ours will fight with the support of artillery, air strike..thus, higher chance our commandos will win.. or maybe our Senoi Praaq will be enough to annihilate the insurgents..
true that..wonder what kind of training those insurgents have for them to able to fight as equal to the commandos?
Fighting in their own turf. they know every nook and cranny of which to hide from the army. The Sulu peoples have been fighting since they were kids. Mostly among themselves. They dont view death as a tragedy like most people are, instead death to them is like accidently twist an ankle to us.
Best in the world based on some hyped up propaganda and wikipedia? Please kill me now.
I cant say much about it...

during the 70s and 80s, our soldiers was considered among the best in jungle warfare. The reason is very simple. At that time, we face an active insurgency. Even the Wataniah at that time was a highly experience soldiers. There's no substitute to real combat experience in shaping a soldier. There's nothing like a real threat of death to push a person beyond their limit.

after watching multiple spec ops training TV documentaries, i think i can say that the toughest spec ops are among those from Asia's nations..and the most hardcore of them all are among the South East Asia nations' spec ops..
and btw, is it true that pinoy actually send their spec ops's trainees on an actual combat mission against insurgents as a final test for the recruits to passed before they are approved as part of the particular spec ops unit?
edited: i found out which spec ops unit is that..Phillipine's Scout Rangers..good lord, they actually send them to actual combat before their graduation ceremony..
Though this "test" mission is more like recon only, sometimes they got unlucky too, ambushed and whatnot.. every year got casualties
Last year.. rip

Slain soldiers in Sulu were on test mission
ZAMBOANGA CITY—“We still haven’t learned our lessons,” retired Col. Ariel Querubin, a former superintendent of the Philippine Marine Corps Training Center, said of the killings of seven Marines in a clash with Abu Sayyaf bandits in Patikul, Sulu, on Saturday.
“They were on a test mission, these were students, they may be the best considering they were with the Recon (reconnaissance team), they belonged to the Marines’ elite team but the doctrine of the Recon is basically just to go out there to gather data and they are not there to engage their enemies,” Querubin said Sunday in a phone interview.
Around 20 soldiers on two teams of the Force Reconnaissance Battalion were sent to Tugas, a hilly jungle in Patikul, for the purported test mission that led to the incident in which seven Abu Sayyaf bandits were also killed.
i don't know whether to call it brave or effective or smart or idiotic to send trainees into actual combat..
the comments are right in this one>> "If it was indeed a test mission, why send them into hostile terrain, and with a military objective? If it was a bonafide combat mission, why send green troops under an inexperienced junior officer into unfamiliar, enemy-infested country? Weren't there any other Marine units, who have years of experience fighting the Abus, and who know the territory, who could have been sent?"

what I heard is that our SpecOps trainees had to 'capture' police station as one of their final test...when they 'captured' the police station, then they will rang the district police officer to come down and signed the acknowledgement papers that they had successfully 'captured' the police station..
