QUOTE(zimhibikie @ Jan 27 2014, 04:56 PM) yeah, but wouldnt san antionio class be sued when the beach head or port is firmly secured? LCAC needed to transport hardware during battle.. ![]() Cutaway illustration of the U.S. Navy's San Antonio-class amphibious transport dock ship (LPD). The amphibious transports are used to transport and land Marines, their equipment, and supplies by embarked air cushion or conventional landing craft or amphibious vehicles, augmented by helicopters or vertical take off and landing aircraft in amphibious assault, special operations, or expeditionary warfare missions. LCAC also fit into san antonio class, they got bigger well deck compare to USS America which is cater to more aerial invasion. |

Type 071 amphibious transport dock The Type 071 (Yuzhao-class) are amphibious warfare ships of the People's Republic of China's People's Liberation Army Navy. They are built by the Shanghai-based Hudong-Zhonghua Shipyard, and the first entered service in late-2007. The Type 071 has a capacity of one marine battalion, including 500-800 troops, and 15-20 amphibious armoured vehicles. Troops and equipment may be deployed to over longer distances and to more difficult terrain by hovercraft and helicopters. The well deck may hold four Type 726 Yuyi class LCAC. The ship is armed with one 76 mm gun and four 30 mm close-in weapon systems. The Type 071 may operate as the flagship of a task force. As with similar ships, it may also conduct humanitarian and civilian evacuation missions in addition to amphibious landings. The China State Shipbuilding and Trading Corp. consortium offered to build a modified Type 071 for the Royal Malaysian Navy. The Malaysians had a requirement for a 13,000 ton LPD; the Type 071 would cost a third of the similar US-built San Antonio-class LPD |

After finishing trials the ship was commissioned to the South Sea Fleet on 30 November 2007, at Zhanjiang Naval Base. Its estimated production cost is 300 million USD$.
On 9 March 2014, the ship was deployed in the search for the missing Malaysia Airlines Flight 370. |

QUOTE(atreyuangel @ Mar 19 2014, 04:39 PM) QUOTE(kerolzarmyfanboy @ Mar 19 2014, 04:50 PM) Since the first day when MH370 went missing, i always thought that hijacking is the main caused. But when so many countries help us on SAR so willingly, especially those big powers like USA, china and india, i suspect there is a very valuable cargo in that plane. Now with this commando stuff appear, looks like our government knows something on the plane whereabout. Great conspirasy behind. |
