hi jinyee,

i have been diligently using the regime u have recommended for close to 3 months now and my skin does feel and look much better!

The problem now being there are some minor scars which are taking quite a long time to heal - so much so that my gf bought me a product from biotherm homme called anti-rides line peel which promotes natural healing of the skin particularly on wrinkles and acne scars. It uses silicium, moisurising agents, thermal plankton ( main 5 ingredients: aqua/water, dimethicone, alcohol enat, glycerin, octylodecanol ). Is this product safe to be used? She is also thinking of buying a home microdermabrasion kit being sold in guardian - i will post the name and the ingredients after work once i have checked out its contents. Thanks again for all ur help, jinyee~

Great to know that the regimen works on you. I think you should thanks to your patient as well, because normally acne sufferers are anxious to see result in short time.

Please do not use other products. Its Biotherm but I don't think its great. Just be your own self. Let your skin to work on it. Make sure you have proper lifestyle, meaning no clubbing until too late, lots of alcohol and so on.

Microdermabrasion is a NONONO because the one sold in Guardian did not use high quality crystal on the cream. Normally, when you are able to minimize the appreance of new acne, you could perform the microdermabrasion once per month. That's all, because it will upset the skin if too frequent usage.

Please google more or search at wikipedia to learn more about the mechanism of microdermabrasion.

Well, minor scars, you do not require to go for those expensive therapy. Just consume some collagen and let your skin to heal by its own. I saw Total Image collagen is quite affordable. So, let it works from inside out. Going for therapy really risk your skin as normally for shallow scars, dermatologists will prefer cheaper alternative but charge you skyhigh, its glycolic acid peel with different percentage from 30%-70%, otherwise they will either go for salicylic acid or lactic acid peel which I consider its yet still unstable for acne skin. Thats why my point is always gentle and mild to the skin, rather than using aggressive treatment which may let you see significant result one-off but who knows the outcome might be destructing.

Anyway, always bear in mind. Mild and gentle, and patient wink.gif

I would prefer Cetaphil, but some people claim that their skin is oily and would expect a 'clean' feeling, so liquid neutrogena is not a bad alternative as well. But, I do prefer Cetaphil more.

By the way, Merry Christmas everyone!

Merry Christmas!

Yes, vitamin E does help. But eventually if over consume, it will retain in your body and cause a lots of burden to your liver and kidney. It is not water soluble, thats why it will retain in your body.

Yes, I don't think its a problem if you concurrently use Neutrogena cleanser should you have suddenly run out of Cetaphil. My advice is that, when the pharmacies were doing sales, grabbed and stocked more than one Cetaphil, because the price will be cheaper and sometimes you might get free gift such as face towel.

Its normal because it lets the skin to breathe and bring in sufficient oxygen to kill P.acne bacteria. Anyway, its a temporary condition, should your skin has settled down, you would not feel the itchness anymore. My advice is that, please apply Panoxyl once per two nights to build up the tolerance towards BP.

You could find it at Watsons or Guardians. I believe Watsons is doing promotion of this item. Just go to the counter and enquire from the salesperson. They would be willing to help you to get the item.
