jinyee, u're really a good skin consultant... i've been following this topic and i guess i should ask u some question... tongue.gif

i have acne for 10+ years now... my face got scars and pimples, sometimes puss... cry.gif

my combination now is estebel (from DHCL, sorry for the spelling) toner and facial foam, and Simple Shine Oil Control Matte Moisturizer (something like that)...

currently, the pimple is put under control, still got puss but the oil can be as much as cooking oil... i really want to control the oil... icon_question.gif will the Clean & Clear oil removing film helps? and also the neutrogena on-the-spot helps?

notworthy.gif thanks! u're the best notworthy.gif

Well, thank you for the compliment ( dare not to take it at first ). Having acne for 10+ years is not a really serious problem if you start having it during your standard 6 or form 1 time. The problem might persist and it might stop automatically during a session as if its due to hormon. However, if its because you are having sensitive skin and yet using harsh products, then I have to say sorry to you because you might not be getting acne for a longer time but you are also harming your skin.

Anyway, you really need to scrutinize into the root rather than eliminating one pimple on your right, then another pops up from your left. So, for having it for 10 years, I would recommend you to either look into your skin type and other criteria.

Puss is because your skin is dry in oily out. Well, you may need to apply something that is moisturizing yet is non comedogenic. SIMPLE Oil Control moisturizer will only helps to moisturize your surface layer of skin rather than your whole skin which consists of dermis and epidermis. It may control the oil as first, as it forms a film on the top of your skin, its like shielding it out but as time goes by, your inner layer of skin will feel dry because it cannot breathe. So, to moisturize itself, your skin by itself develop extra sebum to keep your skin in balance, the inner and the outer part.

That's why I emphasize, and always emphasize on products that did not really make your skin worse as it claims it will help at first ( their marketing strategy ). Estebel, well, I would highly recommend you to put aside your current facial cleanser, substitute it with my favorite Cetaphil and put aside SIMPLE and your toner as well. As in toner, many brands intend to put large amount of alcohol inside, as their perception is that alcohol will be a good anti-bacterial agent but it hurts your skin if its too dry.

For every person that PM me for their acne problem, I would sincerely recommend them to change to the products that I recommended. The mighty CETAPHIL GENTLE FACIAL CLEANSER, and again the NEUTROGENA ON-THE-SPOT. For moisturizer, you may go for Neutrogena® Oil-Free Moisture for Combination Skin  as it will helps in soaking extra sebum on your face with cyclomethicone ( its silicone that soak up oil ).
thanks for the info rclxms.gif

i'll try ur recommendation n give some feedbacks...

btw, do u recommend any mask that's suitable for acne?

again, thanks jinyee, u're the best notworthy.gif thumbup.gif notworthy.gif

hi jinyee...

it's nearly 5 mths since i've used ur regimen... my face is clean now with less pimple... but still small ones still pop...

recently, i've been sleeping late... average around 1-1:30am... blush.gif n started to start a bit "heaty"... then i notice that the pimple that pops out is reddish with yellow dot... usually it takes abt a day to clear it up... now at least 3 days... cry.gif

is it due to the late nites?

and my skin can be flaky (which i dunno why)... it often happen on the face and the leg (below the knee)... is it due to dryness?

thanks in advance jinyee... now i think u're the official lowyat acne consultant... cheers! rclxm9.gif notworthy.gif rclxms.gif

Great to hear that your skin is almost clear. Keep me up to date on your condition through this thread, ok?

Heat will cause pimple. From the viewpoint of 'TAO', you need to release the yang that you absorbed at the daytime and neutralize it with the yin at night. So, if your yang was not neutralize, it will be accumulated in your liver. It will cause burden to your liver as it needs to detoxify your body during the night time. To me, I combined the chinese philosophy and the western thinking in one. So, from the traditional chinese viewpoint, insufficient sleep will cause acne.

Flaky is because your skin is too dry. Do you always expose to air conditioned environment?

Continue the regimen and by 9-12months, you should be clear with occasional pop out.
*
nope, i'm not always expose to air conditioned enviroment... just in office only... in fact my bedroom is the hottest... so when i'm in front of the computer, i'll have the fan aiming to the cpu... when i sleep, i let the fan spin... my bf said that i have a slightly higher body temperature than normal person... but the temperature still the same... i dunno y... the falkiness only happens at the face and leg (only thigh below the knee)... other areas aren't affected... curious...

will continue using ur regimen... rclxm9.gif icon_rolleyes.gif notworthy.gif cheers to u jinyee!
