Hello!
I did my tax online and after claims and deductions, according to it, I have over paid my tax by rm2k++. However I only just received a little over rm1k+ in tax refund. What happen to the remainder? Do they give tax refund in installments? (as far as I remember, I've always gotten lump sum) The only difference for my tax filling year 2013 is that I claimed Interest in Property (I meet its requirement) and declared my wife and son. Wife not working and son under 18 years of age. |

Not subject to tax and not filing is two separate issues. If he or she has a income tax file opened with LHDN, it's better to file even though you're no subject to tax. |

QUOTE(supersound @ Apr 16 2014, 11:23 PM) This you no need to worry too much about. I am not too sure about this....If say you are paying tax at 20% rate for that year. And you "claimed" rm300 of tax relief. When they found out that you are not entitled for that, they will send you a letter and ask you to clarify. And if they concluded that you can't get relief, you only need to pay rm60. Remember, get any official letter from LHDN, don't ignore it and settle it ASAP. But once you have this problem, you will be "black listed" for 1-2 years. They will keep on looking on your records to see is there any "mistakes" done or not. I made "mistakes" few times already and I never asked to pay penalty. But I saw this link on the first page of this thread. http://www.hasil.gov.my/goindex.php?kump=5...1&cariw=penalti It is stated somewhere that the tax penalty is 1,000 to 10,000 and 200% of tax undercharged. Perhaps expert here can verify. |

In fact their latest brochure on "TAX DEDUCTION, RELIEF & REBATE" also don't have such item. This post has been edited by csong60: Apr 17 2014, 10:49 AM |

hi guys,
i've been reading around that if you earn 2.5k and above per month, you are taxable. my question is, is this 2.5k referring to nett or gross salary? My gross salary is 2.8k per month = RM33,600 annually. my nett salary (after minus EPF socso) = RM2478 per month = RM29,736 annually. Assuming no tax relief/rebate. By just looking at the amount above, am I taxable? I look at my salary slip from my company and under the 'income tax deduction', it is RM0 every month. |

QUOTE(liette` @ Apr 20 2014, 02:59 PM) hi guys, The monthly PCB deduction is just an estimation. Ultimately it'll still go to your annual aggregate income which includes bonus and allowances. i've been reading around that if you earn 2.5k and above per month, you are taxable. my question is, is this 2.5k referring to nett or gross salary? My gross salary is 2.8k per month = RM33,600 annually. my nett salary (after minus EPF socso) = RM2478 per month = RM29,736 annually. Assuming no tax relief/rebate. By just looking at the amount above, am I taxable? I look at my salary slip from my company and under the 'income tax deduction', it is RM0 every month. Therefore, just file according to the EA form prepared by your company HR. |
