QUOTE(yvonnesoo @ Dec 9 2014, 11:29 AM) lol.. they like to use this tactic so that tourists don't have reason to bargain much.. but actually some of the label that state "made in korea" is not locally made also. some is manufactured from other countries and put that label on.. i knew that because i went to 1 garment manufacturer factory in Bangkok before ya. either we buy or go. haha. now buy things also can't 100% believe where it come/made from. of cause there is some that is genuinely made in korea but you can know by the price. it's not cheap though btw. just wondering y i didnt get any notification when i got your/someone replies. do u know whr to set? QUOTE(Kampung2005 @ Dec 10 2014, 01:22 AM) 3 layers. 2 thin, 1 jacket. Glove is a must. Face mask is optional. Lips must be constantly moisturised. hmm. i don't think 3layers enough for me. cuz that time 10-15ºC for me already freezing cold. or maybe i wore wrong clothes. lol. if didn't apply anything to our lips when you eat something hot it burn. that happened to me. my lips were like on fire and hurt badly |

QUOTE(yvonnesoo @ Dec 8 2014, 02:18 PM) it depends what you buy or who you deal with. nowadays you can't bargain much plus some won't bargain and will tell you it's "made in korea" and will shoo you away i got "conned" out of a lot of money during my 1st trip to dongdaemun. then later only realise can bargain ah..anyway, so far no snow. I was fortunate enough to walk home one day and saw specks of snow coming down. I think for few hours only. That's it! a week here and no snow on the ground. boohoo |

Heard the sales of selfie stick has been banned in Korea. Can we still use our own stick to take selfie?

QUOTE(yvonnesoo @ Dec 10 2014, 10:45 AM) winter in korea is quite harsh. especially the wind blow towards u.. First day I had worst surprise. Snowfall + strong wind. There was a situation where everyone ran away for cover after strong wind. In my case, when I came out of subway exit (Hoehyeon station), the wind blew right to my face, thus I had to ran back to the subway.maybe you wore clothes that is not suitable for the weather. for autumn, you can wear 2 layers plus a coat/sweater/jacket/windbreaker. for winter wear long john/thermal wear underneath your clothes.. or layer with fleece.. plus coat or downjacket.. your lips are dry. you must apply lip balm la |

QUOTE(cynthusc @ Dec 8 2014, 12:26 PM) Hey there...if you are okay with a little distance to Seoul, try Daelim Residence in Guro. I paid KRW109K approximately RM240 per night for a room that can fit four. It has two Queen Size Beds in the room. Hi there, thank you for your suggestion! Appreciate it a lot Althernatively you can check out IBVILLE Residence which has family rooms available but are pricier at KRW120K per night. If you stay at Daelim, it will be a 20 min subway ride to the heart of Seoul. It is definitely cheap, the owner is very nice and it is very near to AK Plaza which is a mall. The food around this area is also cheaper. I went to a BBQ restaurant recommended by Mr Kim, one of the staff and one set of beef was only KRW16K. In Myeondong it was KRW22K for the same set. It is a 5 minute brisk walk to the subway station. As for IBVille, it is also a good place but it is on hill so walking is a little troublesome. If your parents are active walkers this should not be a problem. IBville is in Myeondong but not in the heart of it. Please note that there will be a lot of walking and most subway stations do not have escalators or lifts so if you want the most convenience for your parents or if they are not big walkers then it would be better for you to get a place in the heart of Myeondong but it is of course pricier. Finally I'd managed to book a guesthouse located in Insadong. My mom had knee surgery just 7 months ago, so I try to find a place that is near the subway. Plus it's winter. Anyway, expected there will be lots of walking, coz I'd been to Busan and there was a lot of walking and climbing stairs |

QUOTE(yvonnesoo @ Dec 8 2014, 02:14 PM) feb you are going and now you only search for accommodation will be quite rush.. plus some good guesthouse mostly fully booked.. but you can try your luck to ask by emailing to them your travel date. Yea quite last minute, but finally i managed to book a guesthouse near Insadong. if you want to stay at around myeongdong area. u can try to ask namsan guesthouse 2 or 3. zaza bacpackers 1 (2 will be further up and the road is hilly. not recommended for old people) or mom guesthouse. all walking distance to subway and myeongdong |
